Stat I just saw that bears repeating.
Brisbane's NRLW team won more games than the men's team in 2020.
The women's team played 4 games this year
Ali Brigginshaw into the men's team will fix their halves problem !

Kikau had a shocker last night. Panthers chucked everything through him and he dropped the ball/pushed silly passes a lot.
He totally lost his head. It's like he played the whole game like it was the 79th minute and they're down by a try.
A more composed, "normal" performance and there were opportunities against Hughes and Brenko. It's a shame because I think he's the best 2RF in the game. But he didn't do it on the night.

1, Well done to old mate for setting the standard and getting the NRL, and therefore all Aussie sports, off the ground in the hardest of times.
2, Sutton as refs boss needs to go. The fact the best refs don't get a look in is insane (Chechin/Badge)
3, 6 again rule is great for the game, now we need to build on it. If you give away a deliberate penalty when it's 6 again sin bin them. It'll stop it really quick.
4, Buzz and his crisis merchant cunts at the Daily Telegraph are responsible for most of what's bad about RL. If they didn't whinge about the crackdown on penalties we would have a nice open flowing game by now, instead we have the Storm strangling the game into submission.
5/ When the refs let the guys play we actually get to enjoy the sport.
6/ Sutton legit has zero clue, facts say he is the worst ref when it comes to decisions he makes for tries/challenges - why is he still there? Convenient he was also at Cam Smith's wedding..
This.
I fully acknowledge my anti-Storm bias.
And, I will begrudgingly applaud the Storm (as a team) for rising above the many obstacles they faced to get to the GF and win it.
I think Smith's speech acknowledging the other players who train etc. and never got a game was a slice of class.
That said, my main gripe is in the inconsistency Sutton showed in the first half.
He really has no clue, either that or he was instructed to favour the Storm. (I stand by my NRL wanting a Smith fairy-tale ending statement)
1. The leg-pull penalty against the Panthers in the first half versus the leg-pull by NAS on the Panthers prop which led to him dropping the ball in the tackle. That led directly to Papy's try.
2. The Kikau knock-on, when the Panthers player had the ball in an attacking position versus Smith's Bunker over-rule of Sutton's no try call. Either nit-pick or don't, but getting technical on the Panthers (knock-ons etc.) and letting the Storm players get away with the same stuff not only ruined the game, it led to this year's GF being one of the least exciting to watch.
3. The trainer holding up play while the Storm re-set their defensive line and got their oxygen back was pure gamesmanship and should be hammered by the NRL, either a huge fine or taking premiership points from them in future. As soon as they do it, the rest will follow and we'll have trainers coming on and calling for a stoppage every time a team starts to gain ascendency.
4. Buzz and co from the DT need to be shut down, the Storm and Broncos are owned by News Ltd. so their views on any rule changes that negatively impact those two teams are worthless and in no way objective.
That's just my two-bobs worth.

I agree re Kikau but he's been playing like that most of the season, pretty inconsistent when he has so much potential. He's a massive unit, fast, good off his feet & a problem for all opposition defenses but he can't seem to put it together.

Kikau had a few injury problems at the start of the season which affected his fitness & he never seemed to recover & play good consistent footy

It was honestly pretty poor coaching from Ivan Cleary
May starting over Naden (even though it worked last week, May was getting caught out late in the game v Souths)
Kikau playing 80 mins. When Kikau has gone off for 10-15 min stint for Capewell (when fit) or middle player he's played much better most of the time, but Cleary Snr subbed Martin last night despite Kikau having a shocker

#3 was terrible, and they did the same thing against the Eels.
#4 I'm pretty sure News Ltd have zero ownership of the Storm and haven't for awhile?

Correct, we are no longer a News Ltd owned team and thank God for that.

North Queensland is on the verge of releasing young halfback Jake Clifford to join Newcastle.
That will open the door for Benji Marshall to join the Cowboys, reuniting with his 2005 grand final teammate Todd Payten, who is coaching the Townsville club.
