I personally thought the whole Blues side came into the match thinking they would win 30-0... having Cordner come off wouldn't have helped with subs and then Murray getting injured would've hurt late in the game. They had Keary, Walker and Cleary all on the field at the same time and they were all trying to control the game. They ended up looking like QLD in the first half. I think they need to put a Lomax or Crichton in the centres somewhere and Tupou needs to be replaced... Although Friend went alright and played the 80 I think Grant would've been far more damaging!

Anyone else notice QLD started putting it together when Hess went off..... coincidence?? I THINK NOT!!

QLD also need to fix their passing. The amount of balls that went behind the man and the amount of times a player had to jump/stop to catch a ball was ridiculous.

I honestly thought Friend would go a bit better. A couple of his forward passes were called and lots weren't.

Hunt played well when he came on. Allowed the other halves a bit more room to play.

The debutantes were the ones who really impressed me last night.
Coates, Capewell and Tino were great.

I don't see NSW losing their grip on the match with Cordner staying on and Murray playing the minutes he was meant to. QLD were good enough to take the chances they were given when they needed to. Game 2 and 3 are going to be very different to last night I think. NSW still have every chance to take the series.

Nathan Brown would be huge for the Blues... Bloke puts in 110% every single run... he would be mammoth for them in the middle.

One thing I felt during the game... QLD play for that jersey. They are playing for the spirit of QLD. Making the extra effort to get to a tackle/loose ball, going the extra mile... NSW just seem to be players in the squad cause they were picked.

Here in NSW we love a scapegoat. Keary has the perfect qualities to be the new Pearce in that regard, PLUS his super suss QLD connections.

Qld were always more of a chance than the press gave them. Coming in I thought Qld were stronger in both Front Row and halves, which are big match ups in Origin. And I didn’t think Friz or Cordner we’re in good form coming in.

    A few other comments.

    > Saifiti is better than I thought
    > NSW were at their best when Paulo was offloading. That dried up.
    > Players like Welsh are hugely under-rated and do such a great job.
    > Even though Capewell made a number of big plays and was huge, he is certainly not a centre who likes to pass to an unmarked winger.
    > Whatever Wayne gives Gagai, I’d like some please.
    > Jurbo is such a good defender. Consistently as good as I’ve seen. (Wish he had a few more Gillmeister style huge hits in him to draw a bit more attention to it)

Read in the DT that the refs get a 10second count down in their earpiece, and that was a few secs ahead of the clock.

Channel 9 clock was too slow. That's why there was a difference.

Brimmo out for rest of the series... Val probably slots straight there, which i would prefer to have on the wing.

Brimson potentially out for more than just rest of the series. Depending on damage/surgery Lisfranc injury is what Horsburgh had and is 3-5 month injury which is no preseason or missing early rounds 2021

Well Brimson and Murray both out for the series that’s big blows.

Wayne the wily old fox must’ve delivered a ripper of a half time speech. I think the Blues thought it was won at half time.

I’m pretty happy with ranking in at 17th out of the 49 that played  with 466 points including Cookie as captain and Addo and Capewell who were both late ins for me.......

Brown for Murray straight swap,? Brown certainly won't take a backwards step, he suits the origin cauldron

They might want someone with similar positional versatility to Murray - ability to play edge or even centre in an emergency - in which case Yeo seems a good shout.

Sticking with gutherson and Wighton as centres over lomax and chricton are gonna be big decisions with the defensive errors made in game 1 by those 2, however will they improve the team that much. Wighton defends as an edge as a half in one on one situations so it shouldn't have been such a problem, and Capewells fend was outstanding to get rid of gutherson. Gonna be some interesting decisions made.

There were 3 stand-out centers in this years NRL comp, Lomax, Crichton and Staggs. Both Lomax and Crichton deserve their positions on merit, its not like they are having to choose a 2nd rate player to get centers in the team.

When they have all of Cook, Hunt, Keary, Cleary, Gutho, Wighton, Teddy on the field at the same time, they have too many distributors on the field, with the wrong team balance.

I don't think it was a matter of the out of position players but the tactics. No-one was complaining about Freddy's choices when Turbo got a hat-trick at CTR last year or when Wighton was also great in G2 last year

NSW tactics were pretty wack, Tupou is nearly 2m tall and didn't get one bomb towards him. Granted Coates is same height but on debut could have been targeted better. Similarly Wighton great in air and has height advantage over Gagai

Cordner expected to miss the next game and possibly the series. NSW team to be named today.
