I've had Watson in my 2nd Hook position, which in turn has allowed me to have Cleary plus the three key (or at least I thought key) cash cows in Schuster, Walker and SOS. Can now trade out SOS and sub Watson to halves to get Simpkin and hope like heck he keeps his starting roll until rnd 13.

Agree teeth, in this format, for overall, you absolutely need your non-playing quad members to be making money, at least until about round 15... That's why several of the top ranked teams, including the team winning the comp will have no sho of taking out the title. They will drop off over the next 5-10 rounds, no doubt about it. Agree with Milch though, post Origin, you actually want to have red dots who will never take the field, at least a few anyway as it takes away some of the risk of low AE scores down the track.

100%. I need Blore or someone to come through because I'm stuck with Gosie and Topine (was a good idea at the time) in my second row and they're just not worth trading right now. Gonna have to hit and hope next round I think, even if it means an upgrade

not sure how im tracking this round tbh - 837 with Simpkin, Twal, Lauire to go - i guess on track for ~950.

Capewell was a shame , Schuster and Brailey too (although I assume most have the later 2). And (c) Cleary a bit underwhelming! At least the last 2 weeks I have been putting the last reserve spot on Walker.

    Hows everyone else going??

Thats a shame - you are usually right up there mate! Weeklys still fun and presumably you can be in a good spot for the eliminator!

On a different note, seeing your back 5 is making me think who the current top 4 Cs are moving forward (not that you need all four but certainly 2, and perhaps a 3rd)?

I've had Capewell and Laurie to start, now Capewell & Peachy.

Wondering about shifting Capewell on to Val Holmes? I get the shits with his minutes a bit, but also that he's generally first in line for a backline swtich. Would rather an 80min player and Holmes at FB with goal kicking seems solid.

A handful of other guys on the radar too: Lomax at a discount, Fergusson, maybe Best....

    Thoughts?

Team went really well despite the obvious outs. 987 for the week, another 100+ ranks chewed up. Didn't pick my best 17 it turns out, but I'm not unhappy with Capewell being my lowest scorer. Big downer is BMoz and his injury, both in fantasy and real life, you never want someone to go out like that.

So yeah will be working out that trade... at least he's worth a few bob. Looking at Ponga or To'o unless Pappy is miraculously back. But we shall see.

I thought about trading Capewell a few weeks ago, but then he busted out that big score. I just don't know if he's worth trading right now, BEs might help with that decision but I'm happy with 30+ in centres and he pretty much guarantees that. Of course Laurie is a more than able replacement so if you're happy playing him there then I can understand that. I can see a situation though where I never trade Laurie and he becomes my back reserve/18th or 19th man with Capewell staying in the 13 with Peachey

On back 5, I have Teddy, Ponga, Trbo, Laurie Capewell, Bird (ditched Pappy first week he was injured)

Don't think I've ever had all 6 of them fit at the same time since I got them top decide who to play. But other than maybe bringing Papp yback don't feel the need to play around.

Up to 22nd. Scored 993. Was a good round for me, except for Simpkin who didnt go as well as I'd hoped. I'll give him a week or two more, and then re-evaluate to see if it might be sensible to use him as a stepping stone to Mahoney.

I have 628k in the kitty for this week. Im probably going to be going one CC one Gun for the next couple weeks. Plans always change but liking the look of Tohu and Walsh & Matterson and Cini at this point.

Good work RnT and StuDogg. 878 for me this week. Isaako and Walker saving me from a bunch of mediocre scores. Out to 542nd but hopefully in a decent position to push on through the byes.

At the moment, I’m running Peachey and Capewell in the centres with Bird and Laurie in reserve; Papy, Teddy, Ponga, Turbo, and Isaako at WFB. So clearly that’s not where i’m falling short!

I'm running a similar set up at the moment, with Laurie basically 18th man switching with Niu between CTR and WFB - working well other than this week, when I got spooked he might be a late out and missed out on his 79.

I've managed to work my way up to 15th overall now and reasonably happy with my forwards and halves.
Back 5 is a bit shaky though - particularly if Teddy and Pappy come back this week (as I moved both on).

Currently running with Capewell/Bird and Turbo/Ponga/RTS with Laurie 18th man but generally slotting in somewhere each week.

On the radar for WFB are To'o, DEdwards, Douhi & Walsh.
For CTR, I obviously want Peach but reluctant to trade out a Rd13 player in Bird.

Sorry to the owners but I sort of hope Pappy and Teddy are out for a bit longer....

Good on you mate! 15th is well within striking distance and you have a nice team!

Looks like this forum is doing pretty well in this comp. There were a few other familiar names I noticed in the top 20 over the weeks too. E.g. Pacey in 10th. And another member is in 3rd and has a cracking team!

Yeah old mate in 3rd looks like a good team, I also think Pacey is really well set up for the bye.

Problem I am personally having at the moment, is any sort of confidence around who will be playing in Rd 13.

This round highlighted how frequently injuries are occurring this season - and if it isn't one of your blokes that gets injured, it could also be an Origin player, which then opens the door for a heap of fringe players to be away for Origin duties.

Yeah, its a tricky one. In my experience, bye planning is critical to winning this comp, but, there is a lot out of your control so there is only so much you can do. Get the key players when you can, and make use of the 4 trade week to grab the C/O round 13 playing guys (once you know who the teams are for that round).

I'll send you a PM today with a whole bunch of stuff which you might find helpful.

    Cheers.

100% mate - finding just a bit more difficult this year to dodge injuries/Origin selection.
Will almost certainly be making use of all 4 trades that week.

And thanks, would definitely be keen to see the info you send through.
