Cleary at 29% (4th most popular player) kinda makes me feel like you may just need to own him as defensive move

Ownership will obviously change closer to TLT

    Not especially.
I think every year there is a hangover attraction for the previous years top scorer.

Interestingly though, across the last 7 years there has only been one player that has managed to stay in the top two scorers in back to back years (Cam Smith every year from 2014-2019)

    Others that were close:
    Haas: 3rd (2020), 1st (2019)
    McInnes: 2nd (2020), 3rd (2019)
    Fifita: 2nd (2016), 3rd (2015)

No reason to suggest that Cleary won't do well, but if patterns are to be believed, this years top scorer/average will be someone else

    On a side note;
2020 top scorer: Cleary (not ranked in top 5 in any preceding year)
2019 top scorer: Haas (not ranked in top 5 in any preceding year)
2018 top scorer: Cook (not ranked in top 5 in any preceding year)
2017 top scorer: Cam Smith (ranked 1 the preceding year)
2016 top scorer: Cam Smith (ranked second the two years prior)
2015 top scorer: Corey Parker (didn't rank in the top 5 in 2014)

Yeah but I’m picking Cleary to be the highest scoring half, not necessarily the highest overall

Hey, even with my sarcasm, I'm with you mate.  I always loved watching him play, and I had him each year until last year. I really hope he can somehow get back to his best.  Fantastic footballer and if he did get back to decent form and 50 odd minutes, he's worth a look.  He is the perfect player for fantasy.  Balls to start with him though, depending on the bench.  I'll watch the All Star game with interest though.

Careful. Can almost guarantee he'll do well in the All Star game. Don't base your decision based on his big performance there

I now have a team with all of Cook, Lolo, Cleary, Teddy and I quite like it. I had to sacrifice my Holmes and Munster picks for Isaako and Brooks but I really like the balance, cows and uber guns. Also one less origin player.

It requires a few cheap edge players to be named, but even before trials there is Gilbert, Davey, Koala, CHN, Blore, Ford, Riki, BMM all in contention, don't know which ones will be named or which ones I want yet, they are interchangeable to some extent for now. Same with my centres, there's a few all around the same price. Anyway currently looks like this:

    Cook
    Lolo Koala LAM
    Gilbert Davey
    (C)leary Brooks
    Averillo Bird
    Teddy Turbo Isaako

    Brailey Watson Lodge Lam

    Liddle Niu Blore Simonnson 27k

Oh don't worry mate. I've been playing enough to know not to base much on those games in terms of fantasy. Was just more of a comment in relation to his fitness and to really see how injury free he is.

Mate I think we’d be better going with 4 forwards on the bench.

Which combo of two players do you think is better?

    A: Munster + Kelly + Ford/Gilbert ($533k available for this last spot)

    B: DCE + Bird + Davey/BMM ($428k available)

Have kept Holmes and Munster at this stage, but sacrificing at hooker. Guess most teams are looking similar at this stage until we get solid info out of trials and TLT.

    Taumalolo, Lodge, Gilbert

    Cleary, Munster
    Averillo, Roberts

Why would Benji play 14? I assume he still can’t tackle. Surely he was only signed for depth.
