Re: NRL Fantasy 2021 Part 3 - Closer
Really struggling with edge players atm. Davey and Gilbert were a lock for me now this. I have gone relatively cheap in this area and don't really have a back up with CHN gone as well. Any ideas for EDG around Gilbert price? NOT BMM

Priced at 29, long-term average at centre is 35. In 2019 averaged 43 at CTR.
There are a bunch of cheapish centres who historically have a good average. Will Hopoate, James Roberts, Jack Bird, Dylan Walker, Paul Momirovski the main ones
And Brian Kelly if you want to spring a bit more cash.
I'll be getting at least one of these guys.
There are also Averillo, Tesi Niu, Feagai as the potential cheaper options

Jordan Riki, Shawn Blore, Sitili Tupouniua Jackson Ford. All possible options.
Speaking of CHN. He hasn't been given any punishment yet, has he? we don't know how many weeks, if any he'll be gone for. (or even if he'll make the run on team if eligible to play)

Don't think Riki starts, may come into regular footy mid season, Blore is a lock already, possibly Ford as an option. Thanks will look into him.

I think Jackson Ford might turn out to be the best of the "cheap" edge options.

Covered beautifully. I don't think CTR is hard. It only gets hard if they all get injured or dropped like last season. I'm currently on Hoppa, Bird, Averillo, Niu in my 10 min set and forget. All pretty low risk. 2 of them have DPP.

I agree. I feel like he's going to be one of the few good news stories in a trash season for the Dragons, and it will translate to fantasy pts

Re: NRL Fantasy 2021 Part 3 - Closer
Somone just talked about Gagai at centre and with Gilbert -> Moylan it gave me enough cash to put him into consideration
his stats last year at centre with a try are: 32, 55, 53, 43
and his stats without a try are: 59, 43, 39, 32, 54, 55, 46, 42
that combines for a total average of 46.1 while he is only priced at 39. I might have to pay 150k more but the general rule is that a trade is worth 150k anyway and this should save about 3 trades in the centre position

Payten said yesterday in an interview that there were roughly 21 names in contention for rnd 1. He said he had 4 players fighting for the two centre spots, 3 guys fighting for 2 edge spots, and a tight battle for fullback. Funnily enough didnt mention hooker.
Sounded like the broncos trial will be full strength with the contentious positions getting an even share of time

Best part is that, filtering for 30+ minute games, he's never scored below 20 starting at centre since 2015. May not always get huge scores, but won't let you down either. Might be worth it to punt Averillo back to the EMG.
Dead set, I've written the exact same thing in my preseason notes. Hasn't had a sub 20 in 7 years. Six points unders for playing in centres. DPP handy.

Doesn't matter that much who starts for Cowboys. if Gilbert comes back in round 3 or so and starts, there isn't enough money making time

Why did everyone think Gilbert was starting at the Cowboys in the first place, other than wishful thinking/confirmation bias? Was always unknown between Hess/Dunn/Gilbert/Hola with the first two in pole position but Hola in a lot of fans teams.

He stated that HTF, Drinkwater and Holmes are all in the running for Fullback and that they all know it will come down to who is best at organising the defensive line and where traffic is going.
Also singled out Clifford as being someone he's been impressed with (so possibly has the inside running for 5/8?)
Unsurprisingly Drinkwater has spent time at Fullback and Five-Eighth in the preseason.
HTF & Holmes have spent time at Fullback, Wing and Centre.
Anyone's guess where the chips land.
But one thing is for sure, Payten isn't concerned with doing anything just because the Cowboys have done it in the past

Yep, I'm on all four too. All going well - as it no doubt will - I am quite happy with the collection.

Why do people think BMM, Ford, Riki, Blore, Davey, Koala,
I was wishful thinking for real life football, I'm expecting big things, although ultimately he'll be in the middle I'd say, but I liked him on the edge at this stage.
