To be fair, Oates had some cracking years. His kick returns used to start our sets off really well.

If Josh Hoffman had have been content to play on the wing I think he might have had a better/longer career. Instead he was determined to play a position he wasn't very good at, went searching for it at other clubs, and inevitably faded away.

Did he end up actually playing fullback anywhere?

I don’t rate him one bit as a person after he mocked Boyd’s injury after he left

Walters has chosen Alex Glenn as the captain, admittedly the choices were incredibly limited, but that's a backwards move.

    So many Katoas.

A Bulldogs winger would have to be absolutely amazing to be worth buying, even at basement price.

To make it better, the new Bulldogs Katoa is the younger brother of Sione, but the one at the Sharks not the one who is his teammate.

There's more than one now, because Souths had some low minute edge players last year, due to the way they rotated Murray between lock and edge. Which might continue this year as well depending on how they rotate Murray/Arrow

Trial lists siggest Ofa+Tamou starting props with Twal lock is how they are set to go.

Potentially Mikaele (or even Packer) will start and have Ofa off the bench for impact, but I'd be betting on starting prop.

Whether he will get enough game time to be fantasy useful is something you'll just have to guess at.

HTF names CTR in the trials. Will he stay there?

Rather than talk about edge minyutes, thought I'd go back 12 months, and provide a list of everyone that scored more than 50 fantasy points in a trial last year

    David Fifita
    Brandon Smith
    James Roberts
(those 3 were all in the all stars game)

    Thomas Burgess
    Jordan Pereira
    Reuben Cotter
    Anthony Milford
    Tevita Pangai Junior
    Joseph Manu
    Jake Friend
    Brent Naden
    Billy Burns
    Mitchell Moses
    Brodie Croft
    Thomas Flegler
    Patrick Carrigan
    Mitch Rein
    Patrick Mago
    Paul Vaughan
    Connor Tracey
    Toby Rudolf
    Royce Hunt
    David Nofoaluma
    Luciano Leilua
    Mitchell Barnett
    Harry Grant

Of those Carrigan and Grant (after swapping) would have been in most people's teams whatever they scored.
Some people may have been tempted into Rudolf, Luciano or Friend by those scores, but there are just as many false hits as actual season predictions there.

Everything seems to suggest it is his spot to lose at the moment.

Taulagi or Marsters could manage to grab it at some point (or they might manage to oust O'Neill)

Its strange because a lot of Payten's talk in pre-season has been about fixing their defense, and Hammer doesn't strike me as the most defensively sound option, but maybe he has shown enoughat training to get himself a spot.

I'd say so, he's been training there and was there in the opposed session with the Blackhawks also.

Agree on the defensive issues, was almost as bad as Drinky at times last year, wonder if he’s bulked up a bit. Payton must see something special in him to move him because he is devastating in the space the wing/fullback provides.

I think we'll see HTF slide into a few teams after he blows away Niu on Saturday night.

That's how it looks to me. I actually agree with Matt, Twal looks set to be the big minute middle, Tamou and Offa in prop rotation. Might come down to whether the bench utility plays hooker/edge or spells lock.

If HTF and Holmes are on the same wing wouldn't be surprised if they switch around a lot, at least in attack. Certainly seems a side to target for the opposition, but yikes it's fast in attack.

I thought that Madge had said he wants three middles on the bench.. anyway that may change if Blore is out and Garner has to play edge.

Tigers like Cows will probably run two hookers on the field for periods late in the game.

I had read that Garner was training at lock. Its possible that was true but Blore injury has forced him back to the edge

Simpkin, Packer, Mikaele, Utoikamanu would be the bench I'd expect, and as mtb said, Simpkin might play some lock with Liddle at hooker.

Am warming on Twal if that is how they go into round 1.
He's cheaper than Tohu/Crichton and doesn't play origin, although lacks DPP.
