I think NoSpeakaAnyInglis summed it up really well (below).
I've watched TJ's whole career. He would have been one of the worlds best half backs (some would argue he still is) if it wasnt for the fact he was behind the best half back (in Aaron Smith) and so often came off the bench for the ABs.
Im not sure the 2 points you make will be an issue for TJ.
1) half backs have to be at pretty much every ruck in Union, so they are one of the fittest players on the field. So I think he will be fine on that count. He is known as a good defender in Union so should be fine.
2) other than his size (he is typically bigger than most half backs, TJs point of difference to most scrum halfs is his running game. He's a strong runner, so I think he will be better than average on that count.
The last point I'd make, which I think will be another of his strengths, is on a personal level, he is an awesome person. He will fit into what ever team you put him in, doesnt have an ego, and so will get on with things.
I think he will go really well in league, especially if he sticks at it for a few seasons.
Yeah, mate, sounds like we are on the same page.
You're right, seems like a really good guy and combined with the All Black attitude, will be a great culture addition.
The other thing about him is he has some silky touches. Seems like a cheeky dude that loves a bit of flair and is fun to watch.
Excited to hopefully see how he goes.
