Well they are a good chance of getting the wooden spoon anyway so why not try something a little different...

Probably means too if there is an injury during the game to an outside back McQueen will be the first one to be moved from the forwards

I say keep a bit in the bank..the first few rounds are about fixing up your squad and fixing any mistakes and you don't want to be in a situation where you want to trade your dud for a must have cow but you're 5-10k short.

Re: 2016 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 5
A couple of players i'm having second thoughts on are seggy and Michael Gordon.
Was it just me or did seggy look a bit unfit? Is it safer just go with the tried and true - Smith.
Para have a tough start to the season, just not sure where Gordons points are going to come from.
I've seen these two players in alot of peoples team. Might be a good advantage to go with someone different

whats whitehead's workrate like in defense? bit of googling says he's very dangerous in attack. not sure if i could take the risk at his price.
Pretty busy mate but he does miss his fair share of tackles, if he doesn't start from R1 it won't be long before he does, he is too good to not be playing decent minutes

personally i don't like picking players based on matchups etc because over the season all the scores even up
plus at the start of the season can you really predict which teams go well and which take time to click into gear

I wouldn't read much into the 9s.
If you were keen on Seggy before, I don't really think there has been anything to change that.
Gordon's points will come from the same place as all fullbacks. Run metres, tackle breaks, hopefully some tries. Added bonus of goal kicking.
There are quite a few around that price that are tempting. Gordon, Slater, Mansour - I'm pretty sure I'll have at least one of these guys in my team

I honestly have no idea what everyone sees in Whitehead, given the rotation of the Raiders pack.

Re: 2016 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 5
Re the Jr Paulo, Tapine and Papa stuff.
The Rumours that Paulo is pretty much a done deal for 2017 have been around for a long time now, still with nothing official to come out (a lot of people saying its pending the results of his court case). I always take these things with a grain of salt, the club usually has a habit of naming a signing nobody saw coming whilst the ones being talked about go quiet. I'd love it to be true though.
I think with the Tapine rumour, the thought is that TPJ is another donkeys scalp (to be later heralded as being such an amazing talent the broncos identified, yay them!) and despite last years amazing performance Sia is getting older, you need to plan for the future. I've also heard he played a little time in the middle in a pinch, so that would make him a pretty good bench option if true.
I've said it before but I'd be very very surprised if Papa spends time in the front Row, much more likely to be Sia or maybe even Feno as Whitehead gets more game time. On top of the fact that he went much better last year when he was moved out wide, Ricky said in an article late last year that it wouldn't happen. I think Vaughan might get a bit more game time as well (and is in my dream team as a result), he is a machine.
Of course all of this is just 9th hand info that comes from fiending the Raiders forum and my own opinions. It could all be wrong and perhaps the other Raiders fans on here will completely disagree with me.

First pairing but it is up in the air in regards to position for Fergo and minutes for Lawrence
Fergo 35-45 Lawrence 25-35
Copely 20-30 JTurbo 40-45

This was my thinking, I think the first pairing has a higher risk higher reward.

The only issue with Whitehead is the Raiders pack rotation, if he starts he will kill it, he is too good to simply be a 20min relief guy off the bench

This is the reason I don't think its as simple as looking at the team lists come Rd 1. It wouldn't suprise me if Whitehead starts on the bench for the first 2 or 3 games and then winds up starting. In that case I don't want to be wasting a trade that early. Its a fairly big gamble of course, but one I'm leaning towards taking atm. Putting a lot of faith in Welshy's opinion of him

Re: 2016 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 5
How many players does everyone have in each price bracket?
I've currently got:
100-200k x 10
200-300k x 1
300-400k x 10
400-500k x 4
500k+ x 0
I've currently got:
100-200k x 10
200-300k x 1
300-400k x 10
400-500k x 4
500k+ x 0

Only problem with Lawrence is that Manly pack rotation will the additions of Myles, Lussick, Taupau, which is also the reason i don't think Jturbo will improve as much as some think

I was right about Solly
but there was much less risk involved with Soliola and he was only around the $179,000 mark and available in the CTR
He is a more heralded talent than Hodgson was when he came over last year IMO, any reports from training in regards to Whitehead?

Just this http://www.loverugbyleague.com/news_20822-whitehead-s-testing-training-transition.html that I've seen. One person mentioned they had heard he may start at mounties do to fitness, but this just seems ludicrous.
