Like I kept saying in the forum draft game Moylan will play in the HLFs this year. DWZ is ready and raring to go for another run at FB (that is DWZ best position IMO). A year from now I expect Moylan to be playing in the halves each week. No doubt he will take time to make the transition but like Milford he will get there eventually. The bloke is pure class.rhinoceroo wrote:Moylan - pencilled into my team as a fullback from day one. But if he's playing half? More tackles/less running stats obviously, but do we expect his fantasy output to improve overall? Michael Morgan's improved slightly iirc (similar player, similar switch), and you'd expect Moylan to be more dominant than Morgan next to JT?

A bit of an unknown really. When mullen has been out he has had gidley there. You would think being the dominate half should improve his fantasy output

Are many people starting with smith this year? Normally he is first picked for alot of people. Does everyone see better value in other hookers this year?

These posts on a fantasy forum are hilarious. Imagine how dull this thread if people didn't take an interest in 9s or trials!

I'm shifting players around everywhere to make Michael Morgan my second half. Have the feeling I will loss that PoD after world club challenge though

Will he do better than last year? He was one of my favourite players to watch last year. So much pace and really backs himself which you've got to admire.

BRONCOS
Predicted team: Darius Boyd, Corey Oates, Jordan Kahu, James Roberts, Tom Opacic/Greg Eden/Aaron Whitchurch, Anthony Milford, Ben Hunt, Adam Blair, Andrew McCullough, Sam Thaiday, Alex Glenn, Matthew Gillett, Corey Parker. Interchange: Josh McGuire, Jarrod Wallace, Joe Ofahengaue, Kodi Nikorima.

James Roberts slots into the right centre spot of Justin Hodges (retired). Tom Opacic, Greg Eden and Aaron Whitchurch are fighting for a vacant wing spot, with Lachlan Maranta (wrist, round four) and Jack Reed (shoulder, round four) both out for the first month. Eden and Opacic have both been named in the World Club Series squad. Whitchurch hasn’t, but The Daily Telegraph understands he’s still a massive chance, although Opacic is the frontrunner. Ben Hunt won’t take part in the World Club Series due to suspension, but is available for round one. Josh McGuire is likely to play from the bench over the opening rounds as he eases back from an Achilles injury. Corey Oates (back) picked up an injury at the Nines but has been named for the game against Wigan and will be fit for round one. Back row recruit Herman Ese’ese has impressed Wayne Bennet immensely and is set to play plenty of NRL in 2016.
Casualty ward: Lachlan Maranta (fractured wrist, round five), Jack Reed (shoulder, round five), Carlin Anderson (stomach, indefinite), Corey Oates (back, WCS), Ben Hunt (suspension, round one).
BULLDOGS
Predicted team: Will Hopoate, Curtis Rona, Josh Morris, Chase Stanley, Sam Perrett, Josh Reynolds, Moses Mbye, James Graham, Michael Lichaa, Aiden Tolman, Josh Jackson, Tony Williams, Greg Eastwood. Interchange: Sam Kasiano, David Klemmer, Tim Browne, Shaun Lane.
Brett Morris, grounded for round one, will be replaced by Will Hopoate. Picture: Mark Evans

Brett Morris (knee, round five) is set to miss the start of the year, with recruit Will Hopoate to play fullback and Chase Stanley to come into a backline that is also missing Tim Lafai (Dragons). SuperCoach cheapie Tyrone Phillips is next in line. Moses Mbye is a straight swap for Trent Hodkinson (Knights) at halfback. The exit of Frank Pritchard (Hull FC) sees Tony Williams slot into the starting back row after the former Origin star missed much of last season with a pectoral injury. Tim Browne (ankle) picked up an injury in the Nines, but is set to be fit for the late trials. Michael Lichaa (foot), David Klemmer (shoulder) and Lloyd Perrett (ankle) went for off-season surgery, but are all set to trial and are not in doubt for round one.
Casualty ward: Brett Morris (knee, round five), Michael Lichaa (foot, late trials), David Klemmer (shoulder, late trials), Lloyd Perrett (ankle, late trials), Tim Browne (ankle, late trials).
COWBOYS
Predicted team: Lachlan Coote, Kyle Feldt, Justin O’Neill, Kane Linnett, Antonio Winterstein, Michael Morgan, Johnathan Thurston, Matt Scott, Jake Granville, James Tamou, Gavin Cooper, Ethan Lowe, Jason Taumalolo. Interchange: Ben Hannant, Rory Kostjasyn, Scott Bolton, John Asiata.

Paul Green’s side have been very quiet in the player market and are set to field the same team that won the 2015 grand final. Young guns Gideon Gela-Mosby and Kalyn Ponga will push for outside back spots throughout the season. Matt Scott (neck) has recovered from surgery and has already played a trial.
Casualty ward: Tautau Moga (ACL, indefinite), Javid Bowen (shoulder/groin, late trials).
DRAGONS
Predicted team: Kurt Mann, Peter Mata’utia/Euan Aitken, Tim Lafai, Josh Dugan, Jason Nightingale, Gareth Widdop, Benji Marshall, Lesson Ah Mau, Mitch Rein, Russell Packer, Will Matthews, Joel Thompson, Mike Cooper. Interchange: Ben Creagh, Jack De Belin, Dunamis Lui, Josh McCrone.

Josh Dugan will make the switch to right centre in 2016, with former Melbourne Storm player Kurt Mann to play fullback. Recruit Tim Lafai (Bulldogs) slots in at left centre. As per the Charity Shield team, controversial forward Russell Packer is set to return to the NRL as a starting prop. Mike Cooper and Jack De Belin are fighting for the lock spot vacated by Trent Merrin (Panthers), while Will Matthews takes the back row spot of Tyson Frizell (back, round three). A bench hooker spot is up for grabs following the exit of Heath L’Estrange (retired). We’ve handed the role to recruit Josh McCrone (Raiders) on experience, but he faces stiff competition from fellow fresh face Siliva Havili (Warriors).
Casualty ward: Tyson Frizell (back, round three), Dylan Farrell (back, indefinite), Mose Masoe (ACL, season), Yaw Kiti Glymin (hamstring, indefinite).
EELS
Predicted team: Michael Gordon, Semi Radradra, Michael Jennings, Brad Takairangi, Clinton Gutherson, Corey Norman, Kieran Foran, Tim Mannah, Nathan Peats, Junior Paulo, Beau Scott, Manu Ma’u, Anthony Watmough. Interchange: Danny Wicks, David Gower, Tepai Moeroa, Isaac De Gois.

The Eels will trot out a barely-recognisable backline. Star recruit Kieran Foran (Sea Eagles) will play halfback, while Michael Jennings (Roosters) will slot in at centre. Former Cronulla veteran Michael Gordon has been earmarked for the fullback role, with Reece Robinson (rugby union) having left. Recruit Clinton Gutherson (Sea Eagles) scores a wing spot, although Vai Toutai is placing pressure on the former Manly star following a strong Nines. Test forward Beau Scott (Knights) is a key addition to the pack. The off-season surgery brigade of Danny Wicks (shoulder), Nathan Peats (neck) and Anthony Watmough (knee/shoulder) weren’t named for the weekend trial, but are expected to play in the final warm-up game and are set for round one.
Casualty ward: Danny Wicks (shoulder, late trials), Nathan Peats (neck, late trials), Anthony Watmough (knee/shoulder, late trials), John Folau (hamstring, indefinite).
KNIGHTS
Predicted team: Jaelene Feeney, Jake Mamo, Chanel Mata’utia, Dane Gagai, Akuila Uate, Jarrod Mullen, Trent Hodkinson, Kade Snowden, Tyler Randell, Korbin Sims, Robbie Rochow, Jack Stockwell, Jeremy Smith. Interchange: Danny Levi, Pauli Pauli, Sam Mataora, Lachlan Fitzgibbon/Mickey Paea.

Jaelene Feeney and Jake Mamo are battling for the fullback spot, with Feeney the frontrunner and Mamo set to play on a wing. Sione Mata’utia (suspension, round two) will miss the opening round and is set to be replaced by brother Chanel at centre. Robbie Rochow is likely to run the edge vacated by Test hardman Beau Scott (Eels), while Jack Stockwell and Pauli Pauli are in the running for the other edge slot vacated by Tariq Sims (suspension, round six). Trent Hodkinson (Bulldogs) is the new halves partner for Jarrod Mullen. Tyler Randell is promoted to the starting hooker spot in place of Adam Clydsdale (Raiders), with Holden Cup Team of the Year member Danny Levi set to score a bench spot. Joseph Tapine won’t play NRL after signing with the Raiders for next year. He may be released.
Casualty ward: Sione Mata’utia (suspension, round two), Tariq Sims (suspension, round six), James McManus (concussion, season), Trent Hodkinson (wrist, late trials).
PANTHERS
Predicted team: Matt Moylan, Josh Mansour, Dean Whare, Peta Hiku, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Jamie Soward, Peter Wallace, Reagan Campbell-Gillard, James Segeyaro, Sam McKendry, Bryce Cartwright, Elijah Taylor, Trent Merrin. Interchange: Tyrone Peachey, Jeremy Latimore, Isaah Yeo, Suaia Matagi.

Star recruit Peta Hiku slots in at centre. He can also play fullback, although a decision on who plays there depends on Matt Moylan, who will be given 20 minutes in the No. 6 this weekend. Recruit Trent Merrin starts at lock in a forward pack missing Lewis Brown (Sea Eagles), Sika Manu (Hull FC), Adam Docker, Nigel Plum and Brent Kite (all retired). The backline has lost Jamal Idris (released) and David Simmons (retired), but is bolstered by the returns of Moylan (ankle) and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak (collapsed lung) from serious injuries.
Casualty ward: George Jennings (broken leg, this weekend), Peter Wallace (ACL, late trails), Viliame Kikau (ankle, indefinite), Sione Katao (knee, round three).
RABBITOHS
Predicted team: Greg Inglis, Alex Johnston, Bryson Goodwin, Kirisome Auva’a, Aaron Gray, Cody Walker, Adam Reynolds, George Burgess, Damien Cook, Dave Tyrrell, Kyle Turner, John Sutton, Sam Burgess. Interchange: Cameron McInnes, Tom Burgess, Chris Grevsmuhl, Paul Carter.

Marquee signing Sam Burgess (English rugby) is a huge inclusion at lock. Conversely, Issac Luke (Warriors) is a massive loss. Recruit Damien Cook (Bulldogs) is set to start in the No. 9, with Cameron McInnes coming off the bench — although Paul Carter can also play hooker. Luke Keary (suspension) will miss the opening round, with Cody Walker favourite to come into the side. George Burgess (hip) and David Tyrrell (knee) are aiming to return next week following off-season surgery. Alex Johnston (shoulder) and Chris Grevsmuhl (knee) are also set to be right for round one following injuries at the Nines.
Casualty ward: Luke Keary (suspension, round two), George Burgess (hip, late trials), Alex Johnston (shoulder, round one), Chris Grevsmuhl (knee, late trials), David Tyrrell (knee, late trials).

Recruit Aidan Sezer (Titans) and 2015 revelation Blake Austin form a new-look halves combination. Both will be right for round one following off-season surgery. The exits of David Shillington (Titans) and Dane Tilse (Hull KR) leave a gap at prop. Paul Vaughan is expected to score a permanent starting role up front, while recruit Jeff Lima (Catalans Dragons) gains a bench spot. England sensation Elliot Whitehead (Catalan Dragons), who played brilliantly in the recent Test series against New Zealand, scores a spot on the bench. Kurt Baptiste wins the bench hooker role over recruit Adam Clydsdale (Knights). Ricky Stuart is on the record saying his best uncapped forward, Tevita Pangai Jr, won’t play NRL this year after signing for Brisbane for next season.
Casualty ward: Aidan Sezer (shoulder, round one), Blake Austin (shoulder, round one), Shaun Fensom (broken arm, round one).
ROOSTERS
Predicted team: Blake Ferguson, Daniel Tupou, Dale Copley, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Joe Burgess, Jayden Nikorima, Jackson Hastings, Sam Moa, Jake Friend (c), Dylan Napa, Mitchell Aubusson, Aidan Guerra, Isaac Liu. Interchange: Kane Evans, Sio Siua Taukeiaho, Mitchell Frei, Ian Henderson.

The Roosters will start the year without their best six players from last year — Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (Warriors), James Maloney (Sharks), Michael Jennings (Eels), Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (ACL, indefinite), Mitchell Pearce (disciplinary, indefinite) and Boyd Cordner (pectoral, round eight). Blake Ferguson replaces Tuivasa-Sheck at fullback, with English recruit Joe Burgess favourite to come onto a wing. Dale Copley has been recruited from the Broncos to replace Jennings at centre. Jackson Hastings and Jayden Nikorima are set to form an all-rookie partnership in the halves in place of Pearce and Maloney. Waerea-Hargreaves is replaced in the starting side by Sam Moa, with reigning Queensland Cup Team of the Year member Mitchell Frei one of a host of forwards in the running for a bench spot. Mitchell Aubusson is set for the edge back row spot of Cordner, while Ian Henderson is the back-up hooker.
Casualty ward: Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (ACL, indefinite), Mitchell Pearce (disciplinary, indefinite), Boyd Cordner (pectoral, round eight), Omar Slaimankhel (hand, TBA).
SEA EAGLES

Recruit Matt Parcell (Broncos) is set to start at hooker, with Apisai Koroisau (shoulder, round one) to play from the bench as he eases back from injury and Jayden Hodges (ACL) out for the season. The back row spot of Jamie Buhrer (broken jaw, round four) is set to be taken by Tom Symonds. Dylan Walker (Rabbitohs) has been recruited to play five-eighth alongside Daly Cherry-Evans. Peta Hiku (Panthers) has been let go to accommodate emerging superstar Tom Trbojevic in the backline. Recruits Nate Myles, Lewis Brown, Martin Taupau and Darcy Lussick all earn spots in a new-look pack.
Casualty ward: Apisai Koroisau (shoulder, round one), Jayden Hodges (ACL, season), Jake Trbojevic (concussion, late trials), Nathan Green (concussion, this weekend), Jamie Buhrer (broken jaw, round four).

High-profile recruit James Maloney (Roosters) and local junior Chad Townsend (Warriors) form a fresh halves combination. Reigning NRL Rookie of the Year Jack Bird has been training at fullback in the pre-season, where he is set to replace Michael Gordon (Eels), although Valentine Holmes and Ben Barba are breathing down Bird’s neck. The exit of Anthony Tupou (Wakefield) leaves a bench spot open for recruit Jesse Sene-Lefao (Sea Eagles). Paul Gallen (calf) pulled out of the All Stars, but is on track for round one. Utility Fa’amanu Brown (ACL) returns in this weekend’s trial following a long- lay-off.
Casualty ward: Paul Gallen (calf, round one), Jacob Gagan (achilles, round one), Fa’amanu Brown (ACL, this weekend), Valentine Holmes (disciplinary, this weekend), Tracey Connor (ACL, season).

The Storm may be forced to blood two new faces in the backline following the injury to Cameron Munster (medial ligament), who went down at the Nines and is racing the clock for round one. Even before Munster’s injury, the Storm were set to blood a recruit on the wing following the exits of Matt Duffie (rugby union), Mahe Fonua (Hull FC) and Hymel Hunt (Rabbitohs). But if Munster doesn’t make round one, Craig Bellamy will need to pick two of Cheyse Blair, Jeremy Hawkins, Richie Kennar, Young Tonumaipea and emerging superstar Curtis Scott (who is only 18, but was simply awesome at the Nines). Dale Finucane will take the lock spot full time following the exit of club stalwart Ryan Hinchcliffe (Huddersfield). Billy Slater (shoulder) is back from serious injury.

With Luke Brooks (suspended, round two) out of round one, Jordan Rankin and Jack Littlejohn get chances to push for a halves spot in this weekend’s trial. Recruit Tim Grant (Rabbitohs) scores a starting prop spot in the absence of Keith Galloway (Leeds Rhinos). Pat Richards (Catalan Dragons) is replaced on the wing by Justin Hunt (Dragons), although young gun Josh Addo-Carr is pushing hard. Along with Brooks, Dene Halatau (suspension, round two), Joel Edwards (hamstring, round three) and Matt Ballin (ACL, round six) will all miss the start of the year.

Recruits Ashley Taylor (Broncos) and Tyrone Roberts (Knights) are set to form a new-look halves pairing following the injury to Kane Elgey (ACL, season) and exit of Aidan Sezer (Raiders). The Warriors have two huge signings in Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (Roosters) and Issac Luke (Rabbitohs). Tuivasa-Sheck (calf), Shaun Johnson (cork) and Solomone Kata (ankle) all picked up minor injuries at the Nines, while Manu Vatuvei (shoulder) didn’t make the tournament. All will be fit for round one, if not earlier. Recruit Jeff Robson (Sharks) is set to partner Johnson in the halves following the exit of Chad Townsend (Sharks).

Tyler Randell is promoted to the starting hooker spot in place of Adam Clydsdale (Raiders), with Holden Cup Team of the Year member Danny Levi set to score a bench spot.

Reigning NRL Rookie of the Year Jack Bird has been training at fullback in the pre-season, where he is set to replace Michael Gordon (Eels), although Valentine Holmes and Ben Barba are breathing down Bird’s neck.

Doubtful, I had him all last year and he is amazing. The problem is he is relies heavily on attacking stats and that creates inconsistent scores. If he was still available at WFB he might be a look but I think there is better value and potential there.

All jokes aside Gus did mention when questioned on Twitter over a month ago that Moylan would see time in the halves this year. Was confirmed by other people who had been to Panthers training also.
