Seemlingly innocuous contact to the head can cause significant injury, so it's completely understandable that the NRL has decided to crack down on it. It's not the 90s anymore, and the culture these days is much more "soft" than it used to be, but it's all with the intention of protecting the players, and that's not a bad thing.
It shouldn't be a big deal, and certainly shouldn't be controversial.
*in my opinion*
Here is my issue.. the nrl will claim to care about head knocks and the TV personalities will do the same yet every year they sell origin with what? With the fights... with the shoulder charges.. with cattle dog! To me it feels like the doctors and fear of being sued is running this game... we all know deep down why we watch this sport.. it’s sold as the toughest game.. false advertisement
