Will you have Ctr/Wing coverage if you sell Scritta?

Nope I mentioned this yesterday but it seems a waste having him in the reserves. Have Savage for WFB cover but just have to hope Olam and Burton stay fit if I go for it. May as well go out in a blaze of glory. This most likely means I won’t be able to get Cleary back as it will leave 2 trades

Brailey & CHN the best options for the L**p?

Yep that’s the way I would set it up. Maybe CHN over Schuster though?

Always better to name someone if there is more than a 0% chance he will be used.

If he is named, it costs nothing to drop him from the team

If you don't name him, then he definitely can't play, even if you change your mind.

The NRL also wouldn't permit Tommy to play *if* he wasnt named and they had an injury to Garrick/etc at training. (Des probably still wouldnt want to play Tommy, but anyway)

Very easy to get an exemption to bring in a lower squad player if you absolutely need to though.

Plan was originally Lucy to Murray, but wondering if Lucy to Hetherington is the play to free up that Cleary cash. He and Verrills would sit at 19/20.

Would leave enough cash to swap someone worth 700k on the dot to Cleary.

If I have Barnett, I should be thinking of selling him right as Frizell is back?

I am thinking of trading to Murray which on face value seems like a sideways trade but Barnett is only averaging 43 at Lock. Any thoughts?

Replace Cleary in your argument with Turbo and ask all those who didn’t get on how it worked out for them.

That literally doesn't make any sense as a comparison.
Turbo was a third the price ($477k), priced at just 38 points.
I think even the people who didn't grab him wouldn't have argued that he offers some value (albeit for probably a 50 average)

Unless you're suggesting that Cleary in 5-6 weeks will nearly double in value, like Turbo did?

    Nathan Cleary Turbo
    Price: 1.2mil 477k
Priced at average: 100 points 38 points
Fitness: Not carrying an injury and not requiring an end of season operation, but some history of collecting injuries and only 7 rounds before the R13 bye round.
Only likely to take 1 trade to get him in.

    Not really comparable is it

I have just done some calculation and in R20 I should be able to do a straight swap CHN > Cleary with 0K leftover and that is with a 50 average from CHN.

    New plan - 642K ITB
    R19 - Fog (~736K) + Hynes (~723K) > Ponga(~730K) + Hunt (~794) + 5 Trades + 577
    R20 - CHN (~633K) > Cleary (1210K) + 4 trades + 0K

EDIT: I was also pretty harsh on expected scoring. Like for Fog and CHN I gave a 50 average and for Hynes I gave 55 this week.

Reading ahead I’d be going conservative personally.  Would prefer to be left with 3 trades and Schriton as cover for 2 positions then 2 trades and no backs cover at all.

I’d be way too nervous there’s still pretty much one third of the season to go.

EDIT: just saw you have some Savage cover at least for WFB. Still be pretty nervous.
Most people are tags bad off with trades left as I thought after ynot posted them Monday.

Well when you put it like that no.

I was more pointing to the argument people had for not bringing in Turbo when he came back. Many said coming back from an injury would hamper his scores likely to re injure etc. that didn’t work out well for those people.

    Mission (Bludgers style):
    Trade in Pappy/Ponga
Already have Cleary, Turbo, Fifita, Haas, IPap.
    5 trades and $33k ITB

    Challenge accepted lol!

Hynes becomes wither of those 2 as soon as Pappy returns and he takes up a bench warming role.

I'm almost tempted to trade in a red dot rather than try and guess who the right to person to leave out from Watson, Brailey, Matterson and CHN.

I've traded out TPJ this week but now I'm thinking I could reverse it, use him to loop and trade one of those 4 guys out to Papali'i instead.

Hey @easytiger, what are your thoughts about Schuster vs. Lolo?
I can pick up one but not both.
I have Haas / Crichton / IPap / AFB in the Middle
Fifita / CHN / Robati on the Edge

Trading out Brailey before he loses all that sweet cash.

I definitely agree with you on that - there's a huge risk to expect an injury to change a players output/style of play.
It sounds like if he is fit to play, he should play pretty much normal.

Cleary is also an injury being managed, where to my understanding he will be getting surgery (at seasons end all going well) - whereas Turbo was just hoping that his record of picking up injuries would stop.

It's enough of a question mark for me to wait a game and see (who knows, I'll probably have other fires that make the choice for me anyway).

Other thought was is it worth cashing out Peachey to a cash out and then upgrading Brailey to Mahoney, or is that too sideways? Other thought was Brailey to Ipap but would just be left with Macca and Verrills at hooker. Can only upgrade Brailey if I cash out Peachey but it leaves me no centre cover.

Other thought was hold trades and try get Cleary back but how could I do that with such a low back?....

Team with 5 trades and 52k spare is

    Macca
    Angus Haas Tohu
    Fifita CHN
    DCE Moses
    Ramien Manu
    Teddy Turbo Walsh

    Hynes SJ Schuster Brailey
    Olakau’atu Verrills Peachey Suaali

In two trades, I'd go Hynes to cheapie and accept you'll play Walsh (who averages 56 when starting by the way). Gives you plenty of $ / options for Cleary.

If Schu is fit, he probably plays

I like Lolo still, I'm hopeful he has turned a corner with his form (I bought him last week).
There's a little bit of a gamble with him, but I can't think of many players I'd rather gamble on.

I also think he provides a better balance to your squad than having 4 edges and a further 2 players with MID/EDG DPP.

The only thing making the decision hard for me is the Captaincy factor. I know that if he busts out 100. Everyone that has him is getting 200pts. There is day light between him and anyone else as a captaincy pick. Whilst I agree that waiting and seeing is safe option, I can’t imagine anyone finishing inside top 100 with out him.

If he drops his output by 30% he is still the best player in the comp. I can’t see him being 30% less involved even carrying an injury.
