Id hate if the game ended up being 2 trades per week every week, I enjoy the struggle's of deciding whether to save the trade or use it most weeks. (In saying that ive saved alot of trades this year that i could have used earlier)

Trindall does look like an excellent option. But with the Sharks playing last this week, Trindall/Tracey named as halves and Moylan in reserves, which one does Moylan come in for? No guarantee it's Trindall. Other than if memory serves he's the only one in the team remotely good at goal kicking.

Think my trades this week are going to be SJ>Chambers (Bird fill in) and Harris>Radley. 18 green dots.

Leaves me with 534k ITB to upgrade Moses or Hynes to Cleary next week.

100% this. Needs to be some strategy but 21 man squads with HIA protocols, suspensions and injuries makes it too luck biased.

Agreed. It would be a little boring not having to manage trades. I'd rather add one or two to the squad size rather than more trades. You could still get unlucky with long term injuries, but good players will manage their trades, suspensions, restings and short term injuries better. Having to burn a trade you don't want to because three of your squad get a one week suspension is no fun. 23 man squad probably ideal.

    100% this.

By the time you balance out the existing 34 trades - it's highly unlikely that anyone has been "forced" to trade all of them.
I get sometimes people just have an incredibly unlucky season for a multitude of reasons, but on average things usually balance out IMO - good players often feature near the top year in year out.

Players being dropped, Injuries/restings/ happen, often the question is more about assessing level of risk and how long you're prepared to carry an out.

Would you take a 23 man squad with the same salary cap? Throwback to having one or two guns (if you were lucky) to start the season

True. I did see Moylan at 18. You would think Tracey makes way, but you never know.

Mulvy has a ridiculous points differential which is no surprise given his overall ranking so really only needs the win to finish at the top whereas Random would need to win and hope that Mulvy loses.

At the lower end of the table there's still hope for No Worries who is sitting 2 points shy of 8th place.
As it stands Milchy sits in 8th but has a tough match up against MTB ahead.
No Worries needs a big win against Mighty Fishes and to cross his fingers that MTB can deliver a spanking and he might just sneak into finals if he gets the 355 point swing.

I think by the nature of the suggested changes (possibly 5 bye rounds - 3 major, 2 minor?) that there will be some necessity to have some more trades, but can't imagine it being a major change (having a slightly bigger squad would also spread an increased number of trades a bit thinner too)

Currently there's 54 trade opportunities across a year, for 34 trades.
So you need to bank (or run out of trades) on 20 trading occasions.

I could image that number going to 38-40 trades especially assuming it's 26 rounds next year (so maybe 16-18 trades needing to be banked) - it keeps some people engaged a bit longer and also allows the strategists more opportunity to attack the byes.

@lonescout: It's not going to change mid-season but there will almost certainly be a change to the number of trades available next year."

Hope they don't go crazy with it. As frustrating as it can be, 2 trades a week is a completely different game. Managing trades is part of the appeal. If we could max trade I'd just grab DCE this week and straight swap to Cleary when he's back.

Agreed. It’s a part of the strategy. Hate the idea of giving anymore. Maybe increase squad sizes again. In saying that, I like everything how it is.

And this is coming from someone who only has 16 this week pretrades.

    This would be good imo.

If you did increase the cap, make it marginal.

Much prefer a 23 player squad than increased trades.

Tbh im still happy the way it is now.

I have 16 green dots. 17 if Fogarty plays. I'll be trading SJ though. I guess AFB, Moses are still a wait and see and Koro should be back next week.

Some AFB news would be welcome, if he's only a couple of weeks that would free me up greatly. I can cover him with Angus and have Peachey as my cover and it gives me more options as to which position my next couple of trades will be for. Which means my decision is similar to Milchy's. Three trades. Two to cheaper players and make Cleary my last trade? Or get go relatively like for like with guns? I will probably wait on some AFB news.
