This is how I'm rolling out this week. Ranked 1088 so should finish nicely inside the top 1000, I hope, unless Turbo scores 350.

    Verrills
    AFB Lolo Haas
    Crichton Fifita
    Cleary DCE
    Burton Bird
    To'o Walsh Ted

    Watson Blore Peach Trindall

    Hynes IPap Brailey Laurie

I think looping Hynes might be the way to go. Although Trindall could see less involvement with Moylan back but should still handle most of the kicking.

well done, putting 17 on the park will have you ahead of the pack.  I'd be more worried about Peachey's score myself.

My other option was looping Peach and Blore.

Thanks Jele and wolfking. Pretty chuffed really. But my biggest mistake was starting with Teddy. He lost me 250k before I sold him in Round 13. If I'd had Tohu instead, for a lower starting price, and sold him at the same time, I would have gained 149 points, and had an extra 303k to spend, which I reckon is worth 280 points over the last 13 rounds. That extra 429 points would have me running 4th now. pale

I prefer the term Glass Cannon to Loose Cannon. If we're speaking it into existence I just wanted that throw that in there.

Congrats on the place mate, did you also hear I won the Mod League?

I like Hudson Young, or Jackson myself. I've gone back to the ceiling of To'o this week, not sure if you've entertained him at all. Who will you loop? makes it hard with your red dots playing early.

A lot of us started with Teddy. There was no reason not to truthfully. I can't regret that.

    bunter's musings:

    Congrats Bunter.
Just to reiterate what a few others have said, achieving the ranking you have in your second time out is a spectacular achievement.

That being said, & having witnessed through the Lord of the Byes comp, I can see you're a good player who has played a great game throughout - so I expect to see more good ranks from you in the future.

I think it's an interesting angle to break things down with.
I'm not quite ready for my own post-mortem yet, but I might add that with 21 man squads I almost view a team as being comprised of 8 roles rather than the traditional 6:
    HOK
    MID
    MID/EDG (i.e. dual)
    EDG
    HLF
    CTR
    CTR/FLB
    FLB

The reason being that this season having numbers in those two critical dual positions to generate cover seemed even more important than previous years (with the shear volume of injuries/suspensions).

Anyway, hat's off & I hope you sneak into a top 50 final spot.

I remember starting with Teddy was when he was ~330k after the injury run. 2015 probably. Every other year I ended up forcing moves to get him in before origin. If I had a team this year, I definitely would've broken my rule and started with him.

Not starting with Teddy meant you probably had to nail it by starting with Laurie, Pap, Latrell and To'o. With To'o, 580k for a winger with a limited budget would be a risky choice.

Doui missed Rd 1. Ponga and Trbo weren't playing. Garrick wasn't lighting it up..

    I agree.
Given his dominance in 2020 and the potential for even more involvement this year there was only really two options IMO:
    1/ Start with him

2/ Don't start, but that means when do you trade him in?
It's a bit of a waste of a trade to grab him in rounds 5-10? as it just increases the cost vs points he delivers (given you'd normally expect him to miss a couple of games across the Bye period).
That would leave grabbing him in Round 19/20 for just 6 or 7 rounds to see out the season.
It turns out that was the best option, but on the face of what we saw in 2020, it looked likely that 6 or 7 rounds of Tedesco vs 22 or 23 rounds of him may have added up to quite a disadvantage.

It was a bad result, but not a bad decision.
Me missing Turbo was a bad result & a bad decision by comparison.

Any Eels fans know much about Samuel Loizou and Sean Russell? Both listed as WFB in the app, seems weird to carry 2 on the bench. Is one more likely to spell Lussick?

    Trying to pick my shitto.

Russell is an out an out winger/FB so I'd say he definitely won't be spelling Lussick. Loizou is abit more of a bigger body and can play winger, centre and halves so he might be the one to spell Lussick.

Bullemor starting. Hopefully plays 60 minutes? Looking for a draft MID roughie

Or does Kennedy get the bulk of the minutes from the bench?

I like your idea of tracking 8 roles. How about splitting WFB into Wingers and Fullbacks? It seems to me that Fullbacks tend to score better and their scores are less variable. Or splitting out 5/8s?
