Also does anyone know who won the Mods League, haven't seen any result......
Had a bad season which can be summarised with 2 key things missing Cleary and Turbo. Current rank in the 14k range.

    Hi TheLastDodo,

Thank you for your question. I feel it's probably most appropriate if I answered this question. Whilst I'm sure the other mods would love to have jumped in to field this question they're simply too busy or licking their wounds, whatever losers do.

You see it was I who won the Mod League... For the third time. In what is becoming the dynasty of Honeysett. Although it pains me to say that had I faced Random on any other week, he would have knocked me out. Luckily for me he didn't and we'll, he didn't. Some of us are born for the limelight, some of us thrive when the going gets tough. They say diamonds are formed under pressure and well the proof is in the pudding.

If you would like a signed 8x10 I'm more than happy to send one out to you

    Sincerely,

I had some great picks which I got onto early that did pay off like To'o, iPap, Curran, Alvaro, Hughes, Walsh, Ramien, Schuster, Hynes and others which should have paid off but got unlucky, like Josh Jackson, had him early and he got injured, same with Tapine who started the season on fire but was getting limited minutes, then injured.

Didn't start with Brailey, as I was expecting him to score like he has all the back end of this season. Was wasting trades getting him in early, when others were fixing not having Cleary. Brailey will be interesting next season, could be polarizing / confusing if he scores like he did at the start of this season, next season.

Wasted 3 trades getting Cleary in for 1 week, then he got injured and wasted another 2 trades on getting him out and back in again.

Held Niu for weeks expecting him to come back in the team, which he did a week or 2 after I finally had to trade him out to get 17 on the park.

Traded Averillo to get 2 centers on the park after his terrible scoring and Bird being out the same week.

Also had some shockers that were justifiable decisions at the time, but just didnt have the form expected like Cotric, Lam, NAS.

    Hi Three time champ,

I just gave a thumbs up but then realised that doing so took away what was a nice synchronicity of there being three thumbs up.

Worst season for a while for the Aardvarks...combination of bad picks, not adjusting quickly enough to the new scoring patterns, conservatism & a little bit of bad luck.

22 trades out of 34 were the result of a > 2 week injury, suspension or Kevin Walters

    Bad decisions were

Lam over Townsend (case of familiarity breeds contempt)
Not trading Papy to Turbo Straight away (I think the rule now is bad HIA = immediate trade)
Noticing I'Pap's form in round 2 but thinking he can't keep this up (too conservative)
Hoping Sitili would keep it up after a good start (good player but inconsistent fantasy scorer)
    Selling Avo...but needed a centre
Zac Cini (he was just pure shit but wanted to rage trade Roberts)
Tigers Hookers (probably made some money but used trades)
Roberts over Bird (probably one of the worst decisions)
Selling Brailey over CHN (trying to be clever but forced at least one extra trade)
    Getting Ponga over Munster

    Good decisions were

    Getting Hynes really early
    AFB
Starting with & keeping Croker (even though I initially thought he was rubbish)
    Kolomatangi (when he wasn't suspended)
Getting on Haas when he was cheap

    Slim list....

Odds on I am going to forget this by next year and make exactly the same moves all over again

Trying to remember what I thought was more important between rounds 6-9 than buying Turbo.

In that time I got Simpkin, Fog, Moses, Tohu, Hampton, Walsh, Lucy, Kelly. Simpkin, Walsh, and Tohu get ticks, Hampton was a good buy for a bad result, and Kelly did his job,

But for Lucy, Moses and Fog, in particular, I would have been far, far better off getting Turbo.

Just thinking now that I could have turned Milf, Riki, or Tino into Turbo back then is ridiculous.

In retrospect, I was clearly blinded by bye-planning.

I'm pretty happy with my season, I'm hopeful of a spot in the top 500 with 17 available players this week.

The main 2 decisions that cost me a spot among the elites:
    1. Not starting with Pappy which put me behind the pack the first 5 rounds
    2. Not jumping on Turbo in round 6 when he was under 500k, I was hesitant due to his history of injuries.

My round 13 bye round strategy was a big win. (jumped from rank 3600 to rank 730)

Do you think a full team can cause that much of a rank jump this week mate? Aren't you just inside the top 1000? I'm not getting ahead of myself, I'd just like to finish in the top 1000 (currently 1088)

Looking back I honestly don't think I made too many awful trades, I just could have made better ones (thanks, captain obvious).

Getting Starling and then Macca wasn't ideal, nor was not checking my trades and accidentally trading Crichton instead of DiFi in R12.

I might implement a 'no trades after R1 except for injuries' rule next year, because with the benefit of hindsight:

    Croker -> Davey
    Lodge -> Leniu

    Looks pretty poor.

    My round 1 trades were;

    Lodge - Koala
    Roberts - Leniu

Getting Roberts out early was a good move but not for Leniu. Lodge for Koala is sideways but Koala was crap the last couple of weeks then got suspended where I traded him cause he didn't pass the eye test. Came back and has been pretty good since. Ditching Lodge was hasty though.

The jump mainly depends on Cleary. half of the teams in the top 1000 don't have him and will drop significantly when he posts another banner. I'm only 161 points behind number 500 (our one and only HessHaasHissHoss)

Friendly reminder for turbo captainers, manly will know if they’ve secured top 4 before their game so could see him being rested.

Wacko also reckons ipap is a strong chance to start

Lane is going through concussion protocols, in which case iPap is expected to come into the side

I know it's an extremely unlikely hypothethical, but:

If I trade out Murray then I can afford guys like Crichton/Young/Hughes (who all play before the 24 hour cut for Souths) and also Fog
If I don't trade out Murray I'm probably looking at T'oo/Papy/Pearce/Milf etc.?

But if Murray is any chance of playing I going with the second group.
I can’t see Murray playing. If we needed someone to come in I think it would be Arrow.

I’d get one of Hughes, Hudson or Angus. Hughes might get an early shower so i would pick one of Angus or Hudson

I think I might C DCE and put the VC on Haas.

Next year you have to start with Cleary. If I can’t fit Turbo in I’ll just start with Teddy. A backline of Teddy, Pap and Campbell will be very popular with Coates in the EMG’s I think. I can see Coates going very well in Melbourne.

As mentioned before someone like a Cobbo if starting at centre also looks like good value.

Aaron Booth is going to the Titans, if he starts there is good value but they might price bump him up a little.

Once Souths season is over I’ll need a 2-3 week break, I don’t think I’ll post quite as much I’ll be grieving. Then after that I can look forward to next year. I’ll also be mourning the fact Reyno will have played his last game. I’ll no doubt shed a few tears.
