I would be fine with 36 trades though.

I reckon they’ll give us 38 trades and 23 man squads.

Sounds like the middle of my season. Kept trading in guys that immediately got injured - Jackson, Cleary, Harris, SJ, MahoneyStormTrooper96 wrote:
More often than not the player you traded in probably ended up injured themselves.

Not a comment on this particular incident...but the policy is seriously shite.
If Fainu does come back into the team, not sure how great the team harmony would be between him and Olakau’atu...
They are best mates. Olakau’atu got his opportunity from driving Fainu to training, then got asked to trial.

22 of my 34 trades were made on players being unavailable that week.

Can't be bothered checking week by week, but basing it off memory of who was dropped when, I think 19/34 trades were spent on injured/suspended/dropped players.

Howdy Y'all,
Might as well join in on the 2021 autopsy. The 'Topes tried to impose order and control over the random chaos that is NRL Fantasy this year, so with liberal (albeit unsophisticated) use of excel, I catalogued all of my trades and the reasoning for them. Some of the trades themselves are not pretty and were poor, but the overwhelming observation is that just 5 were 'unforced' ie. trading out a fit, named player to improve the team. 9 were from players being dropped (most of these occurred before Origin I - a likely by-product of Mad Madge's and Krazy Kevvie's team selections). Most shockingly though is the series of trades forced by injury which occurred in the latter half of the season. Injuries accounted for only 11 in total, but 7 of these came after Rd 16 and were to 'keepers'.
Best of luck to y'all with a Gentleman's 15 playing this week.

One thing I’ve done last few years is to rate my trades at end of year. This picks up things like selling Avo, Lodge etc too early. Want I haven’t done previously is consider the trades I did not make. The three obvious ones for me were:
1: Skipping Walsh. Logic was that Brown said he’d be in and out. I also thought if he can’t make Broncos he mustn’t be that good. That no way could Warriors not play RTS at fullback and they’d quickly learn. And that as a young, small player he’d drop off quickly. There were a few Warriors supporters saying he was a must have, but I didn’t listen.
2: Skipping Hynes. Logic was that he’d only play a few games before Papy returned and that he wouldn’t have enough time to bank $150k to make the trade worthwhile. I didn’t see him play the first few games - when I finally did he was way better IRL player than I thought but by that time the ship had sailed.
3: Skipping iPap. Logic was he’d be back to bench when Matterson returned and wouldn’t keep it up. Even though I knew he was playing well, I thought Arthur’s would return to what he intended at the start of the year.
Common threads are:
A) underestimating quality of their IRL game and forcing coaches hand;
B) underestimating impact of rule changes on fullbacks.

Had a bad season which can be summarised with 2 key things missing Cleary and Turbo. Current rank in the 14k range.
Matt, don't stress. This year was a weird one - if you picked up Cleary at the start and then grabbed Turbo when he was <$500k you were riding a rainbow.
Keep your PODs strategy - at the very least you have some cool anecdotes about hitting low ownership "guns" when no one else grabbed them.
It's only a game after all.
The Bludgers were boring as batshite this year, apart from starting with NAS
But, I'm stuck in the 4000s.
Next year, I may juts go left field with some picks and enjoy the season more.

Surely a lot of people had avo and bird for a large portion of the year didn’t need to waste trades there?
Except for the week they were both missing at the same time, and many people ditched Averillo in order to field a team

As much as well all want it, I don't think they'll increase squad size.
I am betting that its too much coding effort and they won't want to spend the money
Especially when they can just set max-trades=38 for a 2 minute effort.

I’d prefer more squad than more trades but i think the extra trades is an ok option. Attracts more casual players and site engagement. Doesn’t really make the game “easier” IMO. Casual players will still waste them and use them early. Some aggressive players might even push even more hasty and marginal trades on their way to running out. Meanwhile it creates opportunities for a bit more bye planning and exploitation for serious players.
To me the issue with 34 trades and low squads has been carnage doesn’t always reward smart or patient play ie too much luck needed to field a team each week. Bigger squads would address it better, but a handful more trades does the job too.

I'm down with a bigger squad, ambivalent about trades but will play again regardless.
On a more pressing note with the, yet to be confirmed, rumour that Hughes gets a rest I'm struggling to pick a last trade in. Thinking Young or To'o any other suggestions?

Young and Crichton (if you don’t have him) seem like the guys guaranteed to score well.
To’o could go big - I’d like to know if he’s up against Fergo or Dumpster
But I’m leaning towards the bargain basement Papy.

Yeah he’s crazy cheap now. I missed him at first for the same reason. Now I’ve mostly had the get over the psychology of not wanting to leave so much money unused

It's usually jersey 2 against 5 right? So To'o should be against Dunster

Mouthwatering.
I do think Young goes big tonight though.
