Yes, that's right. The bitterness is strong in this one. Curse you Brad Arthur

Tbf a Panthers 3-4 weeks can be pretty good.

Panthers 3-4 weeks might be a day and a half based on previous injuries

Fine, i’ll run Moses for 3-4 weeks and keep ~$400k in my bank for 3-4 weeks, like a big IDIOT for 3-4 weeks. Im not running this season without Cleary.

Edit: No this upsets me too, I cant trade a gun for a gun. But if I have a Clune-esque cash cow, it seems ridiculous to have a sneaky $700k tucked away for 4 weeks. But I’ll do it. Im loco.

I would be tempted to set up an anti-Cleary team, and look for Kurt Falls to get a few weeks in at halfback for $220k.

If Cleary doesn't start, big question will be whether to save cash to bring him in, or just deal with it when he does start.

if its 3-4 weeks that's probably too long to have a bank roll, and I don't think I want trbo, so looks like I'll captain DCE or a forward gun

I reckon if Cleary's rd3-4, I'm spending it and try to get him rd 6-7 after some cows have fattened.

You absolutely can trade a gun to a (mega)gun in this situation. Think if Cleary is out 3-4 I'd get as many guns as possible and flip whoever's looking worst to Cleary without having to find a ridiculous amount of cash elsewhere.

Agree. One will get injured/suspended anyway.

Problem with DCE (and Trbo for that matter) is Manly start the season Panthers then Roosters. After that their schedule is juicy but by then, in this hypothetical, Cleary's back.

Panthers without Cleary (and no Burton to replace him) are very beatable.

If you want a single trade to get Cleary in, could do worse than starting the season with Turbo and hope he guns it for a few weeks as captain.

I’m not paying 1 mil to start with Turbo, if Cleary is out I’ll start with DCE and load up elsewhere eg buying Teddy

Trbo could easily lose 100k+ in the first two weeks vs two of the three best defensive teams in the comp. He still has a 30 in him however elevated he is.

If Cleary's out, then by week four everybody will want to be buying a "fallen" Trbo, as well as Cleary, as well as a returning, goalkicking Latrell. Who was it on here who used to start with $1m in the bank for early season moves?

DCE's last 3 scores against Panthers and Roosters, in games where Trbo also played, are 74, 87 and 72 (take off maybe 10 points due to the scoring system)

For the sake of my argument we'll ignore the 42 and 43 he scored at the beginning of last year in the aftermath of the corso race
