The fixture theory is definitely valid for outside backs etc. who are reliant on attacking stats e.g. not blokes like To'o.

The only problem with the theory at the start of the season (or at least pre-trials), is trying to work out what a favourable fixture is.

For example, it seems the Broncos are noted above which is probably based on last season, as opposed to this season where they are likely a Top 4 team...

also coates plays wests rd. 1 & you think sweet he will score at least 2 tries but then you realise the storm pack will have some big outs in the pack compared to 2021...finucane (sharks), grant & bs9 (suspended), kamimamica legal issues could not play for a while & anti-vaxxer NAS..so will the storm pack dominate enough to get good quality ball for coates to benefit. Also coates is a rw & the storm go to edge on attack is the ledge edge.

Only pic I've seen he's not wearing a mask properly.

    I'm hoping it's another Djokovic.

They dont say he is vaccinated, but do say he meets the requirements. Really does sound like Djokovic.

Available to play round 1, and they will need him. Depending on price point, could be a great pickup, with other experienced mids leaving.

Is NAS not in the system due to his vaxx status?? Seems odd since he can still sort before RD 1.

Another one training the house down

A leaner and meaner David Fifita is in the best shape of his career and ready to lead the Gold Coast Titans after last year’s finals heartbreak. At 113kg, Fifita is far from a slim figure but he has stripped fat and added muscle to the near unstoppable frame which saw him score a club record 17 tries last season.

White Lightning wrote:imo the fixture based selection theory doesn't work in league & it doesn't work out e.g. J. Pereira lw outside farnworth & cobbo rw outside staggs...i would say the right edge will see more attacking ball than the left edge as staggs is the go to on atttack & he likes setting up his wingers.

Picking/not picking someone based on which players they play next too is different to picking people based on fixtures.

If you think Broncos won't go to Pereira's edge much, then he's not a good pick, whether or not his fixtures alternate well with Xavier Coates.

Ideal example of picking team based on fixtures could be seen by going back to first lockdown and the 2006 fantasy comp I ran.
Brisbane's Tame "Two Try" Tupou had a marvelous pattern of alternating between scoring 2 tries and scoring 0 tries.

So the best strategy was to have Tame Tupou and another winger. Play Tupou in weeks when he scored 2 tries, and play someone else the other weeks.

Obviously this was an easier strategy to use in the 2006 comp because you could just google what the results where and make team selections accordingly. Its much harder in 2022 when we don't know the results in advance.

Ah right, still seems weird for Fantasy to care about that prior to season opening. Make him available until he's not surely.
Suppose easier for them to not have him until he's a confirmed starter, rather than to have to remove him and muck up a bunch of teams who select him if he doesnt sort it out

Kenny Bromwich confirmed to join Jesse at the phins in 2023.

With Kaufusi already signed by the new franchise, the Storm will have an entirely new backrow next year. They may start to build some experience from within this year (in situations where the match result is not in question)

Sounds like he and Taumalolo have managed to get themselves some kind of exemption whether that's medical or the club waiving the requirement for them.
I still think there's a bit more to play out here.

Just to add the many cheap centre’s convo if Starford to’a is starting centre rd1 for tigers is anyone interested? Although he hasn’t played there in nrl yet he got Man of the match for Aussie schoolboys playing centre so it won’t be an unfamiliar position for him

Probably already had COVID like every other NRL player (i think they confirmed 80% already had), which means you're exempt, I think. I think that is what Matt is referring to re Novax

The plan for all players to cop the spicy cough in pre-season is working.

Be interesting to see where we're at in 6 months anyway. Probably forgotten all this.

Seems I was playing this comp wrong, no wonder I sucked at it.

NAS shouldn’t be allowed to play interstate he’s an anti vaxxer and now has pulled some BS exemption excuse out of his arse!

I’ll be booing him when we play them at home that’s for sure.
