I am starting to see this. Was looking too hard at players that could improve; not enough at solid. proven, known performers.lukeaye wrote:SI wrote:
Not sure if Loomer just hates Woods, but personally I don't see where he can improve, bloke allready plays massive minutes.
From memory he didnt play too many 65+ minute games last season, and when he did was very big scores.
I think he is picking him based on the slight increase in base stat prospects, and his reliability at gun status.
At least, that is why i would pick him

yeah that was kinda my point above. If i could afford him in my current squad i'd ditch my current prop for him for sure

Would you take him over Merrin? I know there's a 45k difference in price, but that doesn't do much for me TBH (it doesn't let me upgrade Copley to anyone useful)

Had a good Fantasy run mid 2015. I could be wrong but the Raiders love going down Croker's side though. Brenko Lee will be breathing down his neck as well.Loomer wrote:Thoughts on Joey Leilua? 40k more than Hurrell but guaranteed to start

If Woods averaged 55 - 60 (entirely possible and probable) I couldnt see merrin averaging much more unless he gets huge minutes.
Id probably take merrin if you cant use the cash elsewhere, if you can id take woods

I'm running with both Woods and Merrin, but I'm not confident in the latter at all.

Woods role more defined then Merrin's at this stage probably means that, and the 45k, would have me lean towards Woods.SoylentGreen wrote:SI wrote:

I can't believe I've done a 180 on Woods

I suppose I could make Pauli Pauli into BLaw if I go Woods rather than Merrin, but I'm not convinced BLaw will be better than Pauli anyway.

Centres could be great, or be busted. Unlikely I know but if Maubbs ends up benched in a few rounds and BJ starts with one of his quiet runs, your centres could be netting you less than 50 points each week.Loomer wrote:Thoughts on team so far. TLT dependant and TBD for to be decided

Who to go with?
Bromwich, Merrin, Packer
McGuire, Parker, Matagi
Packer/Matagi would be my 4th reserve.

Re: 2016 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 7
Woods averaged 55 leading up to origin last year.
Had a couple of injuries post origin that saw his priced average drop to 49.
Had 3 consecutive scores of 3, 37, 22 where he got injured and then saw limited minutes returning from it. Ignore those 3 and his average is 55 for the year.
So all he has to do is not get injured and you will get value out of him. He doesn't need to improve on last year per se. Just maintain what he was putting up before injury.
Not massive value - but there aren't many people at that level who are hugely underpriced.
I'll probably trade him out for origin, but he is almost certainly in my team
Other option is James Graham who is also slightly underpriced when you take injury into account. But given he is already under injury cloud for this year I think I might pass to start with.

The open group is:
JAXSM7VW
That's not technically the SUG though, we started the open league from day dot, but will open the SUG in the next day or 2 (they will be PM'd).
May be called the FUG now as well , I think MF came up with that!

I prefer FRG - Fanatic Ranked Group and then we can have FOG - Fanatic Open Group next year.

Have a feeling Surgess needs to be at least 70 minutes to be captain material. I think without one of Smith, Fifita, Gallen or Parker you are losing points each week.
I have Evans, Merrin, Cartwright, Whitehead, DCE, Hastings, Aubo, Teddy, Barba, Feeney, Leuluai, Jnik, Gutherson from your squad.
My questions would be on Surgess to start (at that value), Claw (injury prone and won't improve much) but like the rest. You need a decent captain option I feel. Maybe go Teddy! haha
