Nice bloke.Chewie wrote:What's everyones thoughts on Tuilagi?
Plays hard IRL.
Fantasy relevant??
Is he a keeper at centre? Or do you think he'll boost his average to 38?
Cheaper and safer bet seems to be old-man Croker.

Think he’s referring to Kelma tuilagi tigers edge.
If he can beat garner for the spot he’ll be in my team but I don’t think it’s guaranteed so will just have to wait and see

Is he related to the RU Tuilagi brothers? Because they could play.

Wouldn't Burton scoring less tries offset by potentially more LBAs and TAs this season?
Its definitely tough to work out what Burton will score this year
He's changing both team and primary position.
Some coach comments have suggested he will be concentrating more on his running game. But that doesn't make sense to me - if you have Burton and Averillo in your halves why would you delegate kicking duties to the worst kicker of the 2.
We have decent data on how Burton went as a halfback at Penrith, but will he get as many stats moving to the dogs.

i think this is a bit 'brad arthur pre season 2021' tbh. maybe just to take some external pressures off.
he's going to play left side of the field no matter who his halves partner is. it won't matter what number is on his back. imo he'll be the dominant half.

Re: NRL Fantasy 2022 Part 3 - Max or Josh?
TK interview with Momirovski he asked him if he'd be goalkicker this year (I'd be interested in him for an 8-10 point bump if he was) and it sounded like he hadn't been training on it but he'd wait and see. Made me wonder who Roosters GK will be, because Keighran won't be in 17, SST will only be on the field half the time and Teddy and Walker are both garbage at it Wonder if Smith pencilled in to play.

On Croker, wasn't there some talk that he was like a whisker away from medical retirement with the knee injury?
Or was that just fantasy coach wishful thinking to find a spot for Savage in the Raiders backline?

GK or not for Burton is also interesting. Schoupp kicked over Averillo in the trial, so presumably between Burton & Schoupp (assuming Flanagan doesn't play). Wouldn't be worth as much as the Roosters - maybe 5-6 points.
What I can't remember is whether Burton is any good as a goalkicker. Panthers went for Crichton ahead of him whenever Cleary out, so maybe he's not that hot and Schoupp will get the job.

The change in position was from centre to half, not whether he was on the left or right of the field.

That’s correct he was very close to retiring and had this stem cell treatment to try save his career.mrbrownstone wrote:On Croker, wasn't there some talk that he was like a whisker away from medical retirement with the knee injury?

oh i more meant his preferred position - he's always been considered a 'halfback' right, coming through the grades?

He had a shoulder injury, and then he was out with knee issues. Apparently, he couldn't walk up stairs without pain so, as Rabbits said, had stem cell surgery.
He played a bit over a half a game in the last trial, I'd like to see how he goes for a second week in a row. He's on my maybe list, especially if he's goal kicking.

Howdy Y'all,
Re: the Burton talk. I only caught a few seconds of it on the radio yesterday (maybe ABC) and cannot quote it specifically, but they had a soundbite of Barrett after their trial stating that Burton would be the "dominant" half, especially regarding "kicking" - these words I remember for sure because they are fantasy relevant and I tend to ignore anything that happens in the world that doesn't directly relate to my fantasy team. The gist then was the need for whoever the Bulldogs settle on for the no.7 to lift their game to take the pressure of Burton having to do everything.
The Mayor.

Re: NRL Fantasy 2022 Part 3 - Max or Josh?
Am I insane for running Paix and Randall as my only hookers? It would let me have all three of Haas/Angus/Fifita, as well as Hudson Young.
$30k bank
Paix
Haas, Angus, Bullemor
Fifita, Young
Cleary, Ilias
Penisini, Tago
Papy, Critta, Coates
Randall, Nanai, Amone, J King
J Croker, Walters, Howarth, Koula
The reason why I'm so high on Hudson Young is that he played 13 games starting on the edge last year, and played 80 minutes in every single one of them, for an average of 60.1 across those 13 games (so genuine keeper level). In fact, in his whole career, he has only had a single game in which he started on the edge but didn't play 80 minutes (round 11 2019, played 71 mins)

Paix might not even be in the 17. Probably just wait til TLT, but even if he does start round 1, seems a big risk.

All the mail I've seen is that Paix has pushed Turpin out of the starting spot. If that doesn't come to pass, I may give up Hudson and get Grant back in, but if the mail is correct, then obviously he's a buy
