Right you are! Pop goes to the bubble of another 240k player shining to start the season. I suppose it is a possibility that Liu takes Lisone's spot but would also take up a much larger share of the minutes on offer. However, Joliffe also usually is a small minute prop. I will be keeping an eye on Will Smith during this weekends trial as I think most people would have jumped off Smith already

I do get the feeling the Titans will have both Boyd and Will Smith on the bench. Can't see Smith scoring as effectively for fantasy as Peachey though.

It seems to have taken a long time, but coaches are finally realising three or four big middle men on a bench is kind of silly with the amount of concussion subs/etc.. especially when the ones you have in the side all comfortably play big mins.

I think it's been posted already, but just a few thoughts.

    Cowboys team to play Broncos:
    1.    Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow
    2.    Kyle Feldt
    3.    Valentine Holmes
    4.    Peta Hiku
    5.    Murray Taulagi
    6.    Tom Dearden
    7.    Chad Townsend
    8.    Jamayne Taunoa-Brown
    9.    Reece Robson
    10.  Coen Hess
    11.  Heilum Luki
    12.  Jeremiah Nanai
    13.  Reuben Cotter

    Interchange

    14.  Jake Granville
    15.  Jordan McLean
    16.  Mitch Dunn
    17.  Tom Gilbert
    18.  Brendan Elliot
    19.  Scott Drinkwater
    20.  Griffin Neame

Payten said Hiku has been helping Nanai with his knowledge of the game on that right edge which confirms what we'd heard earlier. Luki has been re-signed until 2025 which would have to be promising for his prospects, and with Gilbert at 17 maybe there is some truth to that rumour about him moving to Brisbane - although it could still mean that he's sewn up one spot and the other two are battling for the other. Drinkwater and Dearden will get 40 minutes each to help decide who partners Townsend. Lolo has a slight hammy twinge - if it was round 1 he would play, still question marks about how Lolo and Cotter fit together. Payten also said JTB is a big body, mobile, able to play big minutes, make of that what you will.

My personal thoughts are HTF a little undervalued but probably a fraction expensive for the risk. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong and he guns it though. All three edges that are in contention should be excellent value whoever ends up there. I'd be betting on Drinkwater to wear the 6. I think Cotter will get 40-45 minutes and score at his price, but if there are injuries either during a game or through team lists he will benefit greatly and if you are buying on that basis you could probably do worse and his dpp is very handy, it will be interesting to see how many minutes he gets in the trial.

He would not need to though price at 19. He would just need to score in the 30s to make 150k and has handy DPP (WFB/HLF)

I think he's more of an 'average 23.2 in 34.7 mins' kind of guy

I really think there is much to be said about the number one spot though. Like sure he went with the more veteran option for number 1, but lets face it he has already been dethroned.

Lemuelu advised in a recent interview that Luki and Nanai are the leading contenders for the edge spots and didnt mention Gilbert at all, which has been confirmed in this team.

Trial team lists can give a good idea about likely starting 13s. But I wouldn't read too much into bench makeup with massive benches and unlimited subs during the game

That seems kind of precise for the eye test. All I know is that he is a solid defender and if he has been selected for that small LOCK role, it is usually comes with a larger number of minutes (pushing around 50). If he is named alongside two HOKs, I think there is enough there to take the risk of putting him in my 18-21 over risking it on a WING. Worst case is that he performs like a base price bench MID, best case he is a POD cash cow that I do not have to waste a trade on.

They're both cheap enough, I'd consider both in my squad if they run out that way. Edges make excellent cash cows as a general rule.

Wonder if his opinion is worth more than his name on footystatistics

I'm taking Nanai, likely to be a better option in another team than Luki like Tuilagi and / or Bullemor.

One of my best mates got a gig doing sideline injury stuff for the NRL with no club affiliation

First inside scoop is Hymel Hunt going up the tunnel holding a hammy at Monday's trial. Should mean a decent run for Dom Young is anyone wants to take the risk

I was looking at the Young / Clune combo. They didnt quite have the timing right all the time, but Young was his go to option.

Didn't realise Ese'ese was 240k. Is he any chance of actually playing this year?

Nanai does look the better bet. If for no other reason he is $90k cheaper. he is almost certainly in my team

Luki as well is a possibility, depends who else is available and what job security prospects are like for all options come TLT

Not sure on Ese'ese's chances, but I'd say A Fifita is a better chance of getting on the field (and better scoring prospects if he does)

    1. Kalyn Ponga 2. Enari Tuala 3. Dane Gagai 4. Bradman Best 5. Dominic Young 6. Jake Clifford 7. Adam Clune 8. David Klemmer 9. Chris Randall 10. Daniel Saifiti 11. Tyson Frizell 12. Lachlan Fitzgibbon 13. Kurt Mann 14. Phoenix Crossland 15. Jacob Saifiti 16. Mitchell Barnett 17. Jirah Momoisea 18. Tex Hoy 19. Dylan Lucas 20. Mathew Croker 21. Leo Thompson 22. McKenzie Baker 23. Chris Vea'ila 24. Brayden Musgrove 25. Liam Wilkinson 26. Jaron Purcell 27. Ben Talty

True to prediction Young named on the WNG. Personally I will be steering clear. Kurt Mann named at LOCK so should get DPP R1 if this holds true
