The way that things are shaping up, there are going to be a large number of cheap, high value options by the time trials are finished, with injuries and suspensions.

I am taking the perspective of making sure that I have all the best low cost, high value options in my team to start with, then building around them. Nothing worse than starting the season missing a guy that is 10-15 points better than his cost and $400k or less, and there appear to be more this season than any other that I can remember.

I have detailed further on who I think they are in my team tracker.

Mate this is the same every season, can't have them all. Pick a few with perceived best prospects, adjust after round or so to make sure you don't miss a huge one like Brailey. Still a game of guns and cows

I dont have all of them, just those that I think are the pick of them. I don't have Ilias for example, preferring Walters, Paix, Amone and Clune in that price range.

Paix could be dropped or back to bench by round 2 or 3 it is Kevvie Walters we are talking about here.

Clune I won’t go near I do not see much value.

    Do you have FOX ?

If you do then you'll be able to watch multiple replays over the next 12 days, if not NRL.com will be showing full replays like they have already with the Round 1 trials.

@Ponga Yeo the Mann your opinion on Clune or Crossland starting in the halves with Clifford?

I’m definitely no Barry Toohey but Clune will start and crossland likely 14 cus he can cover the halves, hooker, 13.

Crossland has had a good pre-season by all accounts so pressure on clune but it’s his spot for sure and clune played well in the trial

Wouldn’t surprise me to see Obrien do a Watson with mann at times and have him start off the bench in wet weather games or against bigger packs But shouldn’t effect his scoring really

This looks like a dress rehearsal for Rd 1 v Melbourne! Has there ever been a better time to play them? I can’t believe we could lose that if Papps is out too, but it is the Tigers, so if there is a way I’m sure we can find it!

I have Illias and Amone, with zero confidence in either, but Clune has never been in my team. Illias is a must at his price alone, let alone who he plays for and his locked in position. There will be a lot of cheap players in Rd 1 (thanks to suspension and injury) but how many of them will still be there in Rd 2 or much beyond? Illias should be everyone’s first pick, but not necessarily be in your 17 yet.

I just put Bullemore into my side (I assume he gets DPP) at the expense of Amone. With the potential rise of nepotism at the Broncos and Illias, I can’t see how I can have 3 halves in my 18-21.

The Tigers Chooks game was very wet. My take:

Momo:  really solid.  Very good defensively.

Naiqama:  made a few errors and did little to stand out.  Didn’t earn a jumper on that performance and if he was pencilled in for RD 1, may have even lost it.

Manu:  kind of what you’d expect.  Certainly some good moments.  No kicking (if you were hoping for any if he’s 5/8. )

Nofo: Not his kind of game - too soggy underfoot.  A tad underwhelming for mine.

Hastings:  from fantasy perspective he didn’t kick goals, and Brooks did all the long kicking.  He’s also not a tackle buster, nor especially speedy.  But, he does appear to have good vision and was very involved.  He brings those around him into the game in better positions.  He gave Lucy better ball than he’s used to getting.  I am softly of the view that he won’t be a great fantasy player himself but he may elevate those around him (Lucy, and dare I say Roberts).

Uto: redeemed himself after trial 1.  He popped a few good offloads in heavy traffic that I don’t recall seeing last year (??).  He set up a great try for Musgrove.  You could see him in the footage realise roosters were short and told Musgrove where to run.  I thought that was really impressive from a very young FRF.

Tuilagi:  I like this kid.  He’s goes hard and looks like he likes some tough stuff.  Was close to a few line breaks by changing his running line just before the defensive line and just before he took the pass.

At the moment I have Ilias, Amone and Clune. I have the most confidence in Ilias because he isn't competing with someone for his spot, is the cheaper of the 3 and possibly in a better team (dunno how Reynolds leaving affects the Rabbits but I expect some significant loss of impact).
