    Currently I have 5

I currently have 6. Lets me get the other options I want in the team.

Easy for a $240k player to make money if they are a reasonable player with a decent role.

    This.

4 or 5 are fine, preferably not in your 17 of course but needs must. Might jag a decent score or three along the way. Just have to pick the "right" ones - as we know that is the challenge

I have Schneider, Fifita, M. King so far and potentially Jennings and Koula who I may use as a loop, one injury in that Manly backline and he’s in.

I still think Billy Walters is a trap don’t think I can go there could be dropped by round 2 or 3.

I do think there's some merit to the argument for starting without Burton, but the way I'm gonna approach it is 1) A dominant half who kicks goals and is available at centre will be in your final team and 2) Even if he loses attacking stats early he should have a reasonably high base and won't drop much more than 50k, worst case scenario - is that worth the 1 trade you're paying in exchange?

If you think he'll have a shit season all round then hey, fair play, but far worse players than Burton have maintained a good fantasy average in a bad team. The dogs have enough strike power to get Burton back up to the ceiling he hinted at last year.

On paper, the Dogs got a lot better this year.

Burton, Addo-Carr, TPJ, Dufty all make them better. I think people got a little put off by how poor they were in the trial against the Sharks. But even if they suck this year, they'll suck less than in 2021

I dont disagree, but as you said, its all on paper. Pangai vaughan dufty could easily turn out to be poor signings. Burton is untested as a full time, primary half, and they lack a quality 9 and a 6

I love pre season because you can make a case for every team to be better.

Also currently without burton. New km score and overall less kick metres with 6 again change will hurt him. He will likely have naden outside him who can’t tackle. Yes he could make more but also more likely he’ll miss more. It’s also the dogs. Less attacking opportunities. Spine of averillo burton dufty and JMK will not provide the possession control to build pressure to allow burton his attacking opportunities

Yes he’ll be a keeper centre but not sure he’s must have to start

Stuff it. I’m just going to enjoy this year. I’m putting Welch in soley because he’s my favourite to watch

If naden gets dropped or injured burton will be a must have with an avg of 87 at 6 without naden and only 48 with naden Beer

Except the Knights losing Pearce without a direct replacement and captain in brailey cheer

Is averillo not a fairly good guide of how burton will go? Half available at centre who was the dominant kicker and goal kicker in a terrible team. Maybe slightly lower KM base than avo during his big scoring run, but a far better player, more dangerous ball runner, and dogs can’t really get worse with those signings after a likely settling in period

I don’t think burton will burn anyone too badly early but no doubt 6-7 rounds in he’s the centre you want

In relation to Burton, let's not forgot that Avo had quite a lot of good scores in the second half of the year as the primary half in a shit team. No reason Burton can't excel.

Souths used to do it as well. Have a season launch type event where they'd announce the starting team, maybe on a Sunday night?

Been quite a few years since that happened though

I think Souths might’ve released their team on Monday morning last season. But it doesn’t help much when you need to wait for the other 15 teams til Tues arvo.

As has been said, TLT will go a long way to determining how many $240k players are viable, but a bunch of those named could well be poor options.

Schneider will be a must have it seems. Can't see any serious team starting without him and most will play him in their 17

Fifita will be popular, but in a full strength Sharks team I am not sure if you can play him in your 17. If named he'll be in my 21 though
Max King probably similar, not sure he'll repeat what he did in trials once competition points are on offer, but could be OK in 18-21

Guys like Jennings and Walters (and Vailea from Warriors) I am not sure have great job security. Is Staines really that out of favour that he won't get a run? He knows how to score a try.

One of Fletcher Baker or Suluka-Fifita will probabyl make Roosters bench, but whether they stay there or not, or put up good scores whilst there is another question

If you want to take a punt on someone like Koula, that' a big risk with 21 man squads and limited trades. Could be 10 weeks or more before he gets a run. Are you happy restricting your cash generation for that long

    I cracked the top 1000 once… 996th Cool

4th time is the charm though, cruise into about 22nd place this year, might win if I get any luck.

Burton has been in and out of my team almost daily. I think whoever he is paired with he won’t get all of the KM, I think it’ll be shared.

I’ll hold off and snavel him up if he looks the goods.

I genuinely think Avo is a decent footballer.
