Is averillo not a fairly good guide of how burton will go? Half available at centre who was the dominant kicker and goal kicker in a terrible team. Maybe slightly lower KM base than avo during his big scoring run, but a far better player, more dangerous ball runner, and dogs can’t really get worse with those signings after a likely settling in period

I don’t think burton will burn anyone too badly early but no doubt 6-7 rounds in he’s the centre you want

Now seeing this makes me want to put him back…

I had averillo for those scores but I think the main difference is value burton is already priced highly whereas averillo was a cash cow especially for round 1 where trying to find as much value as possible

It was a point so nice it needed to be made twice.

Avo averaged 55 as starting HLF. I think you’re right, Burton won’t have the same kms, but the penalty rule change means all halves are likely to have lower km. But should run more behind a better pack, and seems more ready to run a team.

    Don’t overthink this one.

Agreed. Not sure his position in school or lowers grades but seems to be similar to jahrome Hughes in the sense of developing into a manufactured HB. I feel his biggest weakness is confidence on the field when he backs himself he looks good

I think he is too. was just thrown into it too early. Needs a season playing outside Cleary/Luai like Burton so he can be rated as highly as Burton.

As has been said, TLT will go a long way to determining how many $240k players are viable, but a bunch of those named could well be poor options.

Schneider will be a must have it seems. Can't see any serious team starting without him and most will play him in their 17

Fifita will be popular, but in a full strength Sharks team I am not sure if you can play him in your 17. If named he'll be in my 21 though
Max King probably similar, not sure he'll repeat what he did in trials once competition points are on offer, but could be OK in 18-21

Guys like Jennings and Walters (and Vailea from Warriors) I am not sure have great job security. Is Staines really that out of favour that he won't get a run? He knows how to score a try.

One of Fletcher Baker or Suluka-Fifita will probabyl make Roosters bench, but whether they stay there or not, or put up good scores whilst there is another question

If you want to take a punt on someone like Koula, that' a big risk with 21 man squads and limited trades. Could be 10 weeks or more before he gets a run. Are you happy restricting your cash generation for that long

Whacko is saying Leo Thompson is likely to make Knights bench at $220k
Edrick Lee has been added at $240k as well, could be the starting winger and hold that spot.

Others for less than $300k include:
    Russell $260k
    Croker $292k
    Roberts ~$275k
    Ramsey $288k

Edrick had a horrible time last year. Was kept out of the news but basically broken foot, re-break on return and then didn’t heal and needed surgery. Spent 6 months+ of the year in a boot and because of Covid away from the main group rehabbing at our clinic

Great guy. Would love to see him do well this year! I’ll get info tmw on how close he is. I’d like to see him start over young while hymel hunt is out

I’m really struggling with MIDs. I just can’t find much depth in that position. Can anyone give a brief run down of the MID landscape for me please.

I like that comparison. Avo a strong running game but he has a good kicking game on him imo. Defense has been questionable at times but that can be improved (and somrtimes hard to judge in a bad team. I do remember he made some bad reads)

Any insight into the greatest of all time, Clifford? Supremely interested in him as a pod.

    @awanamafia

Please join L5, you have the league codes, and apparently have opened the PM containing them. If you don't join soon your position will be given up to someone else

I’m too scared to put him in myself but I think JTB will have a big year at the Cowboys. McLean certainly on the way down rather than up in his career

Welshy’s favourite has a monster boot on him and will dominate the nerfed KM with clune as his partner. It’s his season to dominate now without Pearce. He’s “Mong strong” aka undercover strong and has run the ball well in trials. Has frizell next to him to help in D and to hopefully set up for a few tries. Can’t see the knights making the 8 though so attacking stats may be hard to come by. Don’t have them as spooners like many because the tigers still exist and surely we don’t finish below them

Do you think Ponga will be taking KMs off him? Makes me want to pick Ponga rather than him

Hooker is genuinely a joke position this year isn't it. Bring back CS9 ffs.

Ponga is the Mann but don’t think he will average more than 70-100km. I do think ponga knows he will have to be very involved and more active for us this year. Next part of his game he’s working on is to be more deliberate in backing up offloads and sniffing around the ruck in the middle third like a Teddy or turbo

Haven’t been at first grade training since Covid but more senior Physio is back with them so should have good info this year 👌🏻

Remember the days when we would fill our teams with as many hookers as we could and now most people only have 1
