Re: Daily Fantasy Talk -NFL/NRL
Geez that was a dud recommendation on Collins. Had two touches early in Q1 and hasn't had a stat for the last hour. Sorry about that, I stuffed my own teams as well.

My problem turned out to be not grouping together the right high scorers, I have shaw but 2 failed guns in one neale with 2 failed guns in another if only I could have grouped them together

That's the story of daily fantasy, really. You've got to nail all nine selections.

Im much better at NRL haha but not a bad first go. Turns out my top team had the same number of 100+ scorers as the winner just the cheap/mids all were well below. Thats where game knowledge comes in over just reading my stats straight out.

I'm hoping Draftstars open the NRL this week. Have been doing well in MB but their prize money has dropped. Would love to se a 50k nrl comp I think I'd enter the max 10 teams

Re: Daily Fantasy Talk -NFL/NRL
NRL Draftstars open. Scoring is
Try = 8 points
Goal = 2 points
Field Goal = 5 points
Try assist = 5 points
Line Break = 4 points
Line Break assist = 2 points
Tackle = 1 point
Tackle break = 3 points
Missed tackles = -2 point
Offload = 2 points
Total Meters gained = 0.1 points
Kick Metres = 0.05 points
Error = -2 points
Another big difference is the price changes, i noticed the AFL guys who were 5k last round jumped to 11k this round, no slow movers which is good.

Re: Daily Fantasy Talk -NFL/NRL
I've never played any of these lads. A couple of questions:
-is the "guaranteed" prize money only if it fills up to the quota of players?
-Draftstars as an example, is someone who watches most games better playing the Salary or the Turbo?
-Can you cancel prior to 1st kick off?
-once that player quota is filled up can no more players enter? So at the moment the 10k is showing 4/750-does it have to get to 750 for that guaranteed prize money and is 750 the maximum in that comp?
-is there a comp (this one or Moneyball or whatever) that is technically easier to have a win in?
-are there any of these comps to steer clear of?
Cheers in advance.

-The "guaranteed" means it goes ahead no matter how many players enter, could be 10 could be 1000 doesnt matter still goes ahead.
-both Turbo and salary have pros and cons. Easier to get a team in turbo but i think with research its easier to cash in salary
-Once you fill your team (or reserve spot in DS) and press enter i dont think you can cancel but you can edit team until first lockout. DS are looking at options for late player withdrawal but at the moment you would get hit with a 0
-In GPPs and other tournies you can go over quota, the prize money adjusts up the more players that enter. In leagues max is quota.
-DS just opened so dont no how easy it will be, moneyball is pretty decent for new players. DS will have "overlay" which means less people then the guaranteed prize money will enter effectively costing you less and increasing your chance of cashing.
-not that i know of, ive tried most and found i do heaps better on MB so just play that at the moment but will hit DS pretty hard. Already played a few AFL games.

Re: Daily Fantasy Talk -NFL/NRL
Sweet. Thankyou kindly Shanbon
I have all but stopped punting on the horses over the last few years and was only a $50 on a Saturday bloke when I was betting mostly. I might have a crack at this and have a look at Moneyball. Fuck I try to watch every game every week and maybe only miss 10 a year so gotta be as good a chance as anyone.
Any tips for newbie mate or treat it like Fantasy?

In MB you need to have most of the guys who scored in each game to be successful, trys and lbs are worth big points so are ta and lbs so stacking is a good way to go. Stacking is pairing up guys from the same team hoping they win big, i like to go with half fulback wing combo and throw in a 2ndrower. Centre/Wing combo is pretty good too.
If you are only going to play small amounts try not to be tempted into the $10 tournies (even though they are guaranteed and have bigger prizes) as youll find you probably need to enter 2-3 teams in these to finish top 5. Better off entering the $2 biff(1 game selection tournaments) with 3 teams (stack the fav, stack the underdog and have a mix). I started like that and played $5 h2hs until i built enough up to enter the $10 tournie, had some good results in them so now i enter multiple teams in the big comps and play a lot of 3 or 4 man winner takes all

Re: Daily Fantasy Talk -NFL/NRL
Tried Moneyball for the first time last night for a bit of fun. Need to get my head around scoring but went alright for my first go. Just entered one team in each comp and went from there.
Will have another go tonight but this could be addictive haha
Might check out the Draftstars as well to see how that goes
