Looping has rarely paid off for me in the past, it's very hit and miss.
I guess with the additional bye per round, there will be more  opportunities this season to get it right
For me the purpose of looping is to avoid a disaster, not gamble on my loop netting me an extra 10-15 points. Much easier to deal with that way and far less stressful. No

Robbo said Cheese will be looked at to play 80, but will depend on the week. Robbo said Turpin is there as a substitute if need be. So, I'm guessing no Turpin = 80 and Turpin = 55-60.

I think the first three weeks Cheese plays 80, no matter what. Then the chooks get the bye. Good time to reassess and see what the team needs.

Robinson has no qualms about resting his big players in games when the result is known

If Roosters are up by 20+ at half time, there will likely be someone that doesn't come back on. Cheese/Collins/Crichton/etc all of them will likely have a couple of low minute games at some point ion the season. Just play the averages

Kudos for the top notch sarcasm.

But on that note, how hard would it be for the NRL to do Rd 1 team lists a bit earlier e.g. on the Friday this week?

Obviously during the season, it needs to be on the Tues - but with the clubs already having their last hit out last weekend...there is no reason the team lists can't be named early I would have thought.

I'm clearly coming from a fantasy bias/perspective but that aside, surely naming teams the weekend before gives a bit more time for hype/promotion.

This is the Dogs/Cows run on sides from round 1 last year.
Do you think naming the teams a few days earlier would help stop this from happening?
In all, 19 out of 272 players (~7%) in round 1 played in a position they weren't named in (I am counting prop 1 and prop 2 as the same position. But prop and lock as different positions) . The further out you name your teams, the more inaccurate team lists will become. The Thursday night game only had 1 change to TLT (Jaemon Salmon off the bench in jersey 20) The Dogs/Cowboys game below was the last game of the round.

Do you really see a role for Twal?

Are you asking if I personally would select Twal, or if I think Sheens will select him?

He's still one of our better, if not our best, defenders. I think he'd improve the team by being in it, even if he isn't required to play big minutes.

Personally, I'd select him to start the game, and bring on guys like Uto/Pole as impact players. I have never coached a game of NRL though, so I wouldn't expect Sheens to listen to my advice.

Matt Lodge when he comes into the game. Should be low 500s if they don't fuck around.

Looking for a starter who's team has a late season bye that will jump ship before the transfer window closes to a team that has already had a bye thus not getting a bye. That's a 40+ point POD right there. Any suggestions ?

To be fair, I've always been a bit disappointed that there aren't more numbers to the right of the decimal points. It would make all my important decisions so much easier geek

NRL Fantasy Amateurs on Facebook this morning:

Sources close to the Amateurs believe that Turuva will NOT win the wing spot vacated by the injury to Taylan May, and youngster Jesse McLean (who was upgraded to the top 30 on 10/2) will get first go, with Brian To'o moving to his preferred left wing and McLean outside Crichton

I voted TU but I would probably go Doueihi and AKP, and use the spare money upgrading someone else.
