NAS is in my sights. Has the same kind of role in trials as he finished last season. Running out wide, doing lots of damage. Could easily be the cheapest MID to average 60 this season if he keeps doing what he should be doing by attacking the EDG.rhinoceroo wrote:
Edge is the new centre. Nobody is picking the best scorers from the off.
Haumole was probably the biggest beast of the weekend trials as well, ahead of Carrigan. But Paddy's ownership will have shot up and Haumole's won't have (yes, there's the bye consideration, but even so).
*Edit* Maybe NAS was the biggest beast, but that doesn't suit my argument, so let's ignore.

I am looking for 30 mins in MID and the balance of Katoas minutes at EDG to finish the game.Honey Badger wrote:
Definitely a POD play if he gets consistent minutes. Maybe he does get 50 odd mins with Bromwich and cheese gone

If NAS carries on like he was going the back of last year, he's an intriguing option, but you need to pump the brakes a little. He averaged 51ish back end of 2022 when he was getting bigger minutes and playing wider. I don't think that rounds up to 60.

I think Nicholls is a decent shout to start with. He'll plod along with 35-40's and won't make that much money in reality, but he's a decent early placeholder who will get some decent minutes. If he were in any other team you wouldn't look at him but his fantasy prospects are heavily helped by playing in that Dolphins pack.
Gilbert would be good too if he were 100K cheaper. I think he'll get a lot of minutes, but the price point looks too awkward. Nicholls cheap enough below mid range territory but even though I kinda wanted Gilbert, it's a classic mid range trap that will score 45's and sit around the same pricepoint.
Big concern with Dolphins forwards is time spent under the goal posts. Especially for a meat and potatoes guy like Nicholls, if 15 minutes of his 50 is watching the opposition kick goals he won't be scoring many points

He is the senior forward with Welch now. I'd expect NAS to have more touches and more responsibility. Can see him floating wide too. Is Tariq really a 2rf anymore? Loiero still pretty raw. Will wait and see.

Fair point. You would hope they could be slightly competitive though. Signs don't look promising though I will admit.

The dolphins roster looks like it would be pretty competitive... in QLD cup
they will probably go ok due to being new with Wayne at the helm but by OK i mean 'finish 13th or 14th'.

If he's actually any good at fantasy. Might be a Charlie Staines that needs 3 tries a half to score well.
Since Staines went to the Panthers they have been in 3 GFs and won 2. They have lost the GOAT. Tigers to at least make the GF

Didnt even consider this, it’s no wonder I suck at this game.multiple.scoregasms wrote:

They did get pumped by the Titans last week and he still scored 44. While it's a good point, not sure that alone is a total deal breaker.

He is looking like 2020 NAS, fit and firing. Averaged 60 in games > 40 minutes that season.
Pretty sure they werent playing NAS at EDG last season until they started naming Tui there each week, which was round 22 and round 25 he was back at prop fulltime. NAS has scored 69, 83, 38, 63 (round 1 of finals) and now 78 in the trial when spending some time out wide, 1 score under 63 in 5 games.

Well, that's 8x more data than a 1 game sample size.

Yeah and aside from that being an older less relevant sample that last season, the games were R7, 10, 13, 15, 18, 19, FW1, GF. So it's a pretty biased sample. Pure cherrypicking lol.

I just had a sneaky play in a spreadsheet and my first attempt at a team is a solid 300k over the cap. I need to call Nick to sort this out.

Been looking around the 500k mark for a final bench player. Hodgson, Hess, Schuster, Niukore, Ponga, Staggs, Walsh, Tuilagi, Sutton.
None of them reek of cow.
I then consider Klokstad and Kennedy at a better price point and some upside. CNK TMM Kennedy looks a little better than Sloan, Perham, Warbrick.
