Veteran outside back Dane Gagai will be in doubt for our opening clash against the Warriors.

Is he more or less ready to roll than the same time 12 months ago when he was in career best shape?

The same.
It's the highlights that do it to you though. About 120 points in 20 seconds.

I ended up starting with Fifita last year, and the deciding factor was the all-stars game where he scored 30 points in the first 2 minute or so. Then end up watching him bludge on the wing most of the time, hoping he pulls out 1 or 2 big runs a game. Hope they get the best out of him in the field this year, but I won't be starting with him in Fantasy round 1

For me what sealed it was watching him score 42 the other week against the Broncos, doing absolutely nothing. 52 against the Dolphins doing not much. Yes, please.

A 70 and a 90 and actually doing something would have been far more convincing. He did plenty of nothing last year, that was the problemL-Jimmy wrote:

The Sydney Roosters are in talks with the Newcastle Knights to get an immediate release for English winger Dominic Young to play in the opening round of the premiership against the Dolphins.
News Corp can reveal the Knights have asked to swap the English Test winger for a Roosters forward.
The Knights were keen on either Nat or Egan Butcher, which the Roosters have rejected.
There is now talk of the Roosters offering compensation with a transfer fee.
The Roosters signed wingers Corey Allan from the Bulldogs and Jaxson Paulo from the Rabbitohs during the off-season.
However they are desperately keen to add Young to their roster.
Young signed with the Roosters earlier this week from 2024 onwards.
He said he was committed to playing out his final year for the Knights before the two clubs began negotiations for a swap.
Just another reason why we (Knights fans) hate the Roosters.

Who knows, maybe this season he returns to scoring tries at the same rate Billy Slater did for his career.

I think thats why they grabbed Foran hoping he is the key to unlock him, but we can wait and see.

Eh, his lifestyle expenses will have crept up a bunch.
Nothing motivates running a hard line like a looming 40% paycut (particularly when threatened with a move to Canberra)

They could just offer the Knights Undefeated Origin Superstar Corey Allan, I'm sure the Knights could use such an elite player, especially given their loss of fellow Undefeated Origin Superstar Edrick Lee

I think Fifita is probably about 5 pts undervalued. Not even considering some narrative about motivation or expecting more involvement from him either. Just having him start 2RF each week and play 80 most of them would do it.
The issue for me is that there’s loads of value EDGs this year so I think investing in an EDG gun initially is not ideal. But if I was to, it’d be him

I honestly don’t see how a 7 or 7000 in a trial would matter with Fifita. Already know what he is and what’s going to happen. 55ppg (+/- 5) that will still manage to infuriate owners.

I reckon Sloan at least shows up for the full year.
He’ll do well enough for his price

I have Sloan at 21. But TLT will no doubt throw up some options.
