Exactly. It's madness.
I explain an analogy to amateur investors. When the local electronics shop or supermarket drops it's prices, people rush in to take advantage of this. When they raise their prices, nobody feels the need to rush in and buy anymore. So, why does the everyday investor do the opposite when it comes to investing? Fear and emotion controls their choices. They stray away from their strategy and planning and splash cash based on emotion and fear (of missing out etc etc).
Buy problems. Sell solutions. Buy near the bottom of the market. Sell at the peak of the market.
I know it's not exactly the same in this instance, but you see where I'm taking this point. Similar principles.
