Gettin' testy' round here, must be nearly time for the season to kick off.

I like the idea of registering for the late comers league to avoid being way down the back Basketball

I can retain Tapine all season and trade the other MIDs to any other position that I want at a time that works for me. while those that didn't start with Tapine will still need to trade him in. I will have 1 more for round 13 that others won't already have.

Hopgood is another that will work in a similar way, so will have 2 quality Mids right through. How many other players would equally qualify as not requiring a trade all season?

Simple math for those still missing the obvious point

Let's look at it another way, Haas vs Tapine to start with in round 1. Haas plays 1 more game than Tapine in the first 12 rounds. Assuming they both average similarly and Haas scores a 60 on the week Tapine has his bye and he is the only Raiders player in the team.

By that round you should have a replacement player capable of 45+ on your bench as 18th man, so you may have lost up to 15 points, but you have saved the trade from Haas to Tapine. Is a trade worth more than 15 points? Of course. Simple math and logic!

Fuck me, really!? That's impressive if you can get to that point within 2 months. It's astounding to me that you are so low in the rankings each year mate. With this ability you should be winning the comp every year.

For all the negativity on Matt’s comment, if you had a bye player to loop with, you could have a decent chance of getting 35+

Why do you think that after 7 rounds your 18th worst player is going to score 45+ points?

I will definitely be watching to see how you can accrue a team of 18 45+ score players by the end of round 7. If you can,  I suspect you'll probably have a 300 point lead over 2nd place in overall

mattnz has this amazing power where I think people will spend more time analyzing his team than they do their own.

But out of interest I went to check on the community team

In round 8 we had a bunch of players score sub 20
    https://www.nrlfantasyfanatics.com/t1950-round-8-discussion

But by round 9/10 everyone scored 23 or above, except for David Fifita who scored 19 in his first game where he was dropped to the bench
    https://www.nrlfantasyfanatics.com/t1958-r9-discussion
    https://www.nrlfantasyfanatics.com/t1968-r10-trade-discussion

So I am going to say that if you are confident and your team is doing well, 30+ for your 18th man is reasonable
I think its fine to count on 25+

Of course anyone can get injured or just have a shocker at any point, and its hard to plan for that. More than half the time they'll be players you were going to play anyway
Sometimes you end up with your 18th/19th man scoring 50+ (look at community team NPRs round 1 last year - https://www.nrlfantasyfanatics.com/t1877-round-1-results )

    It's definitely possible.
I just think there's a real chance by that point that you are carrying a short term injury, a suspension or some other random reason (flu, resting) that means your 18th, is actually your 19th or 20th, by which time it's probably some one who could put up a 30 or 40 (looped), or they might put up an 8 or a 27.

Banking on them being within 15 points or less of Haas seems a little bit of a flight of fancy.

I also have no problem with the idea of strategically focusing on bye friendly players, or of Tapine (wonderful player).
My doubts around Tapines scoring matching Haas are more based around Ricky's propensity to change the plan, or minutes on any given day.

Basically my hesitation around Tapine. Great player obvs. Ricky is Ricky and will do Ricky things. You can analyse who they've lost and who gains most til the cows come home, end of the day Ricky giving Tapine 40 mins in round one wouldn't be surprising. That's the risk I suppose.

If you focus on stats last year, they are definitely comparable - but gut feel is that Tapine performed at the peak of his powers with limited improvement and Haas was significantly restricted with injury.

Obviously anything can happen (particularly off the field with Haas....) but I suspect Haas to average at least 5 points higher than Tapine this year.

Which Roosters forwards benefit from these minutes that are up for grabs:

    TKO: 51mpg
    Watson: 51mpg
    Verrils: 64mpg
    Angus: 75mpg

Assume Cheese takes Verrils' and Starting second rower takes Angus'. Who then takes the TKO and Watson minutes? From last year:

    Collins 47mpg
    Radley 60mpg
    Lodge 43mpg
    JWH 40mpg

That JDB claim is pure nonsense (and dangerous nonsense at that). The public prosecutor decided not to go to a third trial after a hung jury which means no decision was reached.

Even if it was 'consensual' what kind of bloke has violent sex with an extremely drunken 19 year old & encourages his mate to join in all while his 8 month pregnant wife is waiting for him at home. Fuck JDB, he is a shit c**t and it may be no coincidence that the Dragons have been even more terrible since they made the decision to keep him hanging around the group throughout that saga.

This is my rough guess of the Chooks forward mins, though Robbo does tend to change them a bit from game to game. Wong would go to the edge and push one of the Butcher bros to the middle, and Hutcho/Turpin would cover Cheese.

    8. Collins - 45
    9. Cheese - 65
    10. JWH - 40
    11. N Butcher - 80
    12. E Butcher - 80
    13. Radley - 60
    14. Hutchison/Turpin - 15
    15. Lodge - 45
    16. T May - 30
    17. Wong - 20

Based on this prediction of mine, I have my eye on Terrell May as a cheapie, but we'll see what TLT brings
