Forum's got me thinking about trading Haas. Hated the idea to begin with, but coming round to it. (Would be my own decision, no blame attached).

In my case, it would mean I can go Burbo to Cook next week and run Cook & Robson throughout the byes and probably all season. Underwhelming as they've been, they're still likely to be two of the three top scorers in their position at season's end.

It also gives me an extra score this week. Trade would have to be to an edge or centre under around 600k, and the best prospect I can see is... Jackson Ford.

I mean to play Devils Advocate, he could easily get another concussion this week (or hell, even at training before round 15) and/or the Blues could towel up the Maroons and Billy brings in Ponga for games 2/3.

I guess Ponga is all about risk tolerance, but for me there's too much uncertainty around him. I'm very risk averse though.

I think I'm with you. He price is a steal, but I'd at least like to see if we win game 1. I'm even happy to pay more and get him in round 16 if Walsh keeps the FB spot.

Trade I am considering is Haas to Hopgood

Vague plan is Haas back in after origin, can decide then if its worth losing Hopgood for or do it with someone else. Ideally for fantasy, Haas has some low minute efforts backing up from origin to keep his price down.

If Parra ever get Paulo, RCG, Matterson, Ofa, Lane fit at the same time, then I think Hopgood might be a sell. But they've been smashed by injuries this year to the benefit of Hopgood so why not take advantage whilst you can.
He has a clear benefit over origin, I wouldn't avoid him on the chance that he might not be great 2 months from now

Specifically on Haas vs Hopgood for the next 8 rounds

    Haas plays R15 + R18 as normal rounds. R14, R17, R20 on a 3-4 day backup
    Definitely misses R13,R16,R19

    Hopgood plays R13,R15,R16,R17,R19,R20
His 2 byes are R14 (with Newcastle+Manly on bye and origin players backing up - might be hard to cover him this week) and R18 (Eels only team on bye and its between origins so should be easy to cover him)

Yep to all of this. Seems like we are on the same page here.

Keep in mind, if we lose, there's a chance he gets a call up for game 2, but like you said, no point not taking the opportunity now because of what ifs.

2 trades this week, leaves me with 10.

Katoa - JDB (was tossing up Tohu but i think JDB will excel under (C) and smash out solid 80 minutes in the next few).

Hands - Ponga (as much i dislike it i feel like i want the extra points and hopefully Ponga can get through to round 16 and I've been trying to get rid of Hands for ages, would kill me if Hodgson got injured and Hands went 80 min!!)

I want Moses but i think I'll wait a week given the bye next week and swap out Reynolds for him R15, Nikorima still has some price rises i'd hope - hopefully smash out 60s at FB)

Leave me the following 12 for round 13.

    Robson
    JDB Horse LThompson
    Hopgood Ford
    Reynolds Nikorima
    Bird Lemuelu
    Ponga Drinkwater x

    Grant Cleary Fifita Tedesco
Manu BillySmith Hedwards Manu Bula Oloapu

Buying Ponga does have the promise of someone who could possibly be in your final 17 or #18 too though. You don't get that with Drinkwater, CNK, Garrick or Gutho. Very low floor and high ceiling for post-bye outcome, but he is dirt cheap

Personally I think Latrell & Teddy are the endgame WFBs this year and possibly Turbo is #3, but Ponga could also easily fill that third slot too

The potential for him to hit a few 70s in the next couple of weeks is just too high for me to miss.

If/when post bye period he drops back the mins, then he'll be a single trade to another gun I think. Not too worried about that.

Already don't have JDB (won't be getting him at any stage**), so probably can't run without both this week anyway.

**will probably hurt my team long term but i dont care. dont want to look at his fkn head and have to be happy about it. don't care if everyone else owns him.

Holding Bird, Lemu and Manu. Don't feel I need another centre keeper, and would back Ford to get a better raw score than Lomax. Not sure I can go back to Carty, but can to Ford (and have to Hopgood, and Cheese).

DPP. Good byes. Averaging 46 in non-injury games, priced at under 40. Taking previous ownership out of it, really not sure there's anyone better at his price.

Makes sense then. I've held him but was nervous. I'm actually surprised he's back starting, bodes well for his long term output. hopefully the two weeks off has him refreshed.

Trades this week, Grant, Cheese and Miller to Robson, Elliott and Drinkwater.
That gives me 12 for this week and leaves me 16 trades.
    Next week IKat to Kiraz.
That will give me 11 for Rd 16 and 12 for Rd 19, and only 3 eels/eagles/knights for Rd 14.
Obviously things will change before then but I feel like I’m in a good position.

12 for me this week, but two in the wfb are not ideal. Have used no real planning other than trying to save a few trades so I can max trades over byes. No concept of how screwed I am for later byes.

Traded out Haas, Boyd, hosking, alamoti

    For

    Garrick, cook, tohu, bird.

    Cook
    Tohu, jdb, Carrigan
    Hopgood, bird
    Moses, niko
    Penis, Timoko
    Garrick, Miller, tvw.

Curious which way people would lean with the following options for Round 13.

    1. Sele + Moses (instead of playing I.Katoa)
    2. Tohu + I.Katoa

Doesn't seem to be much difference either way. Getting Moses does mean I can play him Round 16 over the likes of Oloapu.

You're forgetting about the number one WFB this year - Dylan Edwards.

Plays R16 and only has one bye left after this week (R19) and has been way more involved in attack this year than he ever has before.

Can't fault those trades mate. Very popular picks, giving you a strong team for a tough round. Should see a nice rise up the ranks, even if only fielding 12.

It seems setup perfectly for Ponga to pull out his best stuff on Sunday back at fullback, media to get their headlines about Ponga "proving Billy wrong" or something along those lines, and then Walsh bombs on Wednesday.

      Current date/time is Sun Nov 24, 2024 11:52 pm
