It’s definitely a shame for him personally, it’s probably a blessing to the fantasy world though as I don’t think he was ever going to come straight back and bang out 80 mins.
I was never on him for that reason but I’d seen a bit of chatter here.
I thought the biggest thing to come from that news was that they were able to keep it a secret for so long, with a captain no less.
If the ranks are that tight in Newcastle they could be in for a good year.
This might sound weird but it makes Elliot a bit more attractive to me now, Crossland was probably going to steal a few minutes from him but if Brailey is back in a more reduced role than first expected then Crossland might get those mins at hooker instead.

The way Crossland finished last year, AOB may play him 60 mins. He could have 10 points bump in him.
They may run Cogger on the bench > and use Gamble to spell Phoenix at 9, allows Knights to make use of all 3 play-makers.

The wounds are too fresh from punting HSS into the sun to want to consider starting my season with a Raiders back liner with questionable job security unless I can’t find CTR value literally anywhere else

I dont think ive ever seen a player less likely to score fantasy points in an NRL game. Incredible

Its great when you see a guy at minimum price who is priced at more than his previous season average. Especially when its all 80 minute games

In 2018 Hodkinson started the season at 392k => finished and 212k => that would have to rank as one of the worst

If my memory serves, Sticky wasn't that keen on leaving Savage at fullback last year (or 2022) because he was too young and underdone.
As a coach Ricky is pretty focussed on player welfare, so even though Stewart may be carving it up in the juniors, and "training the house down", week-in-week-out NRL will put a strain on his body and mind. I can see him getting some game time (games), but also being rested.

Of course this may all be BS and the kid's a star in the making.

Lol, it never occurred to me that they were even related. Interesting.

Similar but Kevy had said he was really reluctant to pick Billy last year because of 'how it would look' but he was obviously the beat option at the time

Edit hahaha fucks sake they dont even have the same spelling. Duh

I've thrown a team together way too early, mainly because I got fucked last year on tiebreakers being decided by registration time as opposed to, y'know, team/squad value.

So some early thoughts.. Papenhuyzen might be the only clear no-brainer so far, much like Hopgood last year.

    - Plenty of value in the forwards if they're fit and land the expected role. JBrailey, BSmith, Tatola, Piakura, Blore, duals Sitili, Curran and RFM. A few more on the watchlist - Cotter, Angus, Lane, Keppie, Salmon. Might have to pony up for Grant/Cook if JBrails isn't 100%. Cotter withdrew from some game because of recent headknocks, so removed him from the squad for now.

    - Hutch and Flanno look pretty good value in the halves.

    - CTRs garbage as usual. Just give me two of Strange, Burbo and Jartwright. Talakai or Xerri might be alright if the cheapies don't get a start.

    - Teddy and Pap at WFB for now. Stewart and Weekes currently placeholders. Can't see Stewart getting the start at FB though. Just want Chevy in the team to counter having Ford last year. Weekes either a dud or slow burn at best I think.

Some Chevy to Levi action would make me moist, just need one of the McLean boys to join the Raiders too.
