MS word of warning to the POD squad

Part of the reason I started so poorly last year (50k after about 8 rounds) was a few low ownership players that were independently decent picks but didn't go as expected which left me needing mass changes to catch the pack.

Hastings, Collins, Ponga, Turbo, Kenny, TMM the main suspects. Add in some early injuries (Ford, Bsmith) to the usual dud popular picks (Talau, HSS, Doueihi) and there is no way back.

Going more cookie cutter makes it easier to not fall behind early then trade your way to the front

Good for IRL footy bad for fantasy maybe?

Still hard to pass up at the price.

Amone averaged 30 at 6 in the last two years, and you want the same thing with less running?  scratch
Regardless, I could see myself ending up with Flano in NPRs. Cheap enough, really. Only 5 days til i create a squad!

Yeah, but think of all the try assist points those passes will lead to

I don't know if there are any lessons to be learned here, but having started pretty well and got better last year, the main thing that seemed to be in my favour was avoiding the dud cows. I had plenty of dud or injured starters (Doueihi, Turbo, EButch, Cheese) but they were expensive enough to replace pretty easily to whoever in their range had the lowest BE (Hosking etc). What I didn't have was HSS or Talau hanging around. That meant that in the first eight weeks pretty much everyone was making money, which the big-ticket reliable guys like Cleary, Haas, Carrigan and Difita were scoring points.

Not sure what I'm trying to say here other than the obvious that building fast bank in the first couple of months makes the rest of the season much easier, and to do that pick the 18-21 guys who will actually make money. Anti-podding bad cows as important as getting on the good ones.

Pretty much the same as me, but I'm leaning Koro over Ponga (Koro kicks and Ponga could drop cash through FB volatility), Aitken over Walsh (TLT depending), and Smithies over NBrown. Also have Levi because I'm an idiot.

I think the strategy of leaving ~400k ITB is a good one this year. Lots of dodgy cows and maybe-value mids mean that R3-4 trades will be really important.

Last two years my strategy was to start with a strong ctr pair, get a gun or two at wfb and focus trades on bench and forwards. It has fucked me two years in a row because I’ve had to cheap out on forwards and halves. Whisky a terrible starting team isn’t an irreversible position, it makes it really hard to recover from.

yeah I agree, too many question marks around the cows this season, having the extra cash will be handy to fix things up early.
Salmon seems to be a real enabler, but then there's always the chance of Curran getting named at 13 on TLT Shocked
Didn't realise Levi was so cheap, can slot him into the EMG if he's named to start come round 1

What are people expecting out of Lussick with Hands on the bench?
Hodgson averaged 45min a game when Hands was on the bench last season.

I'd guess at the moment they expect Hands to not be on the bench when the round 1 teams are named, hoping Brad Arthur was telling the truth when he said he wanted an 80 minute hooker

Do we reckon we can take 2 out of the 3 of Api, Seyfarth and Kris or only one of them?

Even if he's on the bench who knows what BA will do.

I have a weakness for gun fullbacks and normally start with too many. I’m still waiting for the year I get it right and skip way ahead!

I also have a weakness for not accepting when players scores are trending down / past their prime.

I’m currently look at my team to see Teddy, Pappy and Trbo filling my back three.

    Why has Lussick jumped Hands?

Just training the house down type vibes, did they not like Hands last season?

They signed Lussick mid season last year and played his first game off the bench and after that started for the rest of the year. Also been named to start with the 'A' team this week.

it seems most of the content creators have decided ba will go for lussick based on the end of 2023 where lussick started but if both are in the 17 round 1 then pass on both

Yeah probably have too, wouldn't surprise me if Lussick still plays 80 a lot even with hands on the bench though.

If there is an 80 min HOK you should be going into TLT with Lussick as it’s way easier to downgrade to Hands than it is to upgrade to Lussick

Also Lussick averages 50 in big mins compared to Hands average of 40
