Part of the reason I started so poorly last year (50k after about 8 rounds) was a few low ownership players that were independently decent picks but didn't go as expected which left me needing mass changes to catch the pack.
Hastings, Collins, Ponga, Turbo, Kenny, TMM the main suspects. Add in some early injuries (Ford, Bsmith) to the usual dud popular picks (Talau, HSS, Doueihi) and there is no way back.
Going more cookie cutter makes it easier to not fall behind early then trade your way to the front
