I did ask about Finucane the other day

Wouldn’t surprise me if it was McInnes time to shine, and Finucane plays less mins as a prop

Expensive punt though cos Sharks don’t give much away

McInnes to play half back for the first couple of rounds if Hynes doesn’t get over his niggle

The McInnes "news" (rumours) are interesting.
He's a proven tackle-bot gun (in the mold of the great Sean Fensom), and has a big motor for minutes.
Perhaps Fitzy's realised he needs to tighten up the middle D for the Sharks to trouble the big dog teams.

    A 65 - 70 min McInnes would be sub-gun juicy. Hmmmm
I don’t mean this in a negative way I mean it in a positive way I think it’ll be Matt NZ, 2nd player picked!

He didn't look great in the trials.

He's a bit of a journeyman - in that everyone has seen a bit of him and no-one's previously been impressed.

He scored well for a gun team - including a tonne. But the Doggies are not exactly overrun with attacking weapons.

He'll be behind a pack with smallish/crapish middles, not idea for quick good ball.

He doesn't have great job security, and the Dogs have a tough draw that could worsen that.

Metcalf and Mam are ~50k more, but are good players for good teams.

    ...

    ..

    .

Just don't feel it should be a compulsive buy.

Suspect I'll fade him completely - either in favour of Flanagan (daddies boy gets job security) or Metcalf, despite the injury risk.

Expressed my distaste for him the other day, though he is currently still in my team. Just not a lot of halves I am interested in. Nor hookers for that matter. Sometimes I toy with switching Hutch + Lussick > Boyd + cow and I feel better about the situation.

Idk, Hutch is currently HLF2 next to Cleary. If he can manage 40s then he can stick there while someone else loses cash to upgrade later

Vegas games are surprisingly tv friendly, didn’t realise it was Sunday arvo AEST for both. Definitely chuck the 18th NRL club there.

He’s got a good base with a pretty high tackle count for a half, and there really isnt much risk at his price. If Hutch is your HLF2, who is your backup HLF? I briefly had Cleary, Hutch + Flanagan but then I saw my team and had to go have a little lie down. I just don’t like having such a low cap to replace a starter if they go down.

Flanno and Strange will get DPP if named. Pretty dire

If I was to gun up I’d go Moses, but have the money in other positions for now

Kind of like Mahoney.  Who had 8 missed tackles against the eels..

I've been on Mahoney for a little while. I think he has decent upside among the "cheapies". While I don't think he gets back to 2021 average, I think the path to improvement is plausible. If he can turn 2-3 of his misses last year into completed tackles (better forward pack*, letting Salmon/Mann be the speed bump first) that seems more likely to happen than Robson/Cheese scoring a bunch of tries

Flanno's half already, do you mean someone else? Not seeing anyone at a glance.

I had Cleary, Hutch and EMG Flanno originally, but have added Foggy now too. Hutch getting injured or dropped for Sexy would be a pain in the ass, so having a decent semi-gun half seems important. SOS, Foggy and BHunt look decent at midrange prices. Could make a case for SOS being tentative on return from injury last year, but either side of that, he scores well. Nothing wrong with BHunt either. Probably plays out the contract and maintains form for origin. Foggy with a history of averaging 50 and 47 last year wasn't bad. No Wighton, so might be more relied on in attack. He's another like Cotter that isn't huge value, but can hold down the spot and bridge the gap to Hynes if they can get over 700k.

Back on Hutch, it's really only injury, suspension or dropped that I'm worried about. Scoring and making money not so much. Bit like Tannah Boyd last year. More risky not to start with him imo.

I've been very tempted, but he just missed 8 tackles against the Sharks after 9 against dragons.

For my money he's someone to pivot to upon improvement, not start with
