Lets say for example that there are 5 stand out players in week 1, and they happen to all be under 5% ownership and they are all in 1 person's team. They get a massive advantage for a few weeks, while others are spending time bringing them into their team and you can really separate from the pack.

A good example of Antipoding, is that likely 40%+ will have Cleary and captain him in R1. If he goes down with a 6 week injury ahead of next week, all those players have a massive handicap to start the season. Those that don't have him will have a great advantage.
This only works if that outcome actually occurs.
If Cleary doesn't get hurt and scores just his average, then all those teams are theoretically on the back foot right from round 1 (unless their alternative half/Captain goes above Cleary's average - but that's introducing a whole other variable).
It's a gamble plain and simple and if I were a betting man, I would rather go with Cleary hitting his average, rather than bank on someone over achieving.

Gagai has worked so hard for his opportunity I’m very happy for him making his debut second oldest South Sydney player ever to make his debut I hope he really takes this opportunity and has a great game. He has been in our system for years and he has earnt this opprtunity go well Jacob. If we win that middle battle I feel we can limit the chances Manly get out wide as well which will be important. Keppie against his former club will be emotional but we need him to keep his head and do his job for us.
Well I must say I think we all feel this that it has the feeling of a massive finals game this one with such an occasion. To all those that went over our Bunnies brothers and sisters do your best to get the boys home I want to hear that South Sydney chant going around Allegiant Stadium let’s show America how passionate we are about our Rabbitohs! I honestly don’t care about ownership %s. After Cleary, I try to pick people I think will score more points than their price with the goal of scoring the most points possible. That’s my R1 plan. Usually those players are well owned by people here and across informed fantasy circles. If they’re not, I’ll consider a bit more.

FWIW I play fantasy premier league and this week I had a 86% template rating - which is a calculation of how commonly owned the players in your team are compared to other active players. Super high. But I also had no team exactly the same as mine in the top 1m ranked players. So it’s both cookie cutter and POD. Without worrying about either.

I'd back Wong to score well as long as he is starting. Might be better to lock him in starting, and see what next week throws up. It might be possible to put an outside back in spot 18 who gets lucky and scores a brace and play them over one of your more marginal picks.

Does that change things for anyone?
If crichton doesn't make the 17 this week, what about every other week that follows? He's had his issues to deal with and may be off to rugby, but i don't think Robbo will just banish him to reserve grade for the year.

All my Vegas players are forwards. With the narrower field, hopefully the games will be played up the middle
