No one else I really want in that range if I do have the cash. Potentially only Flanno

I’m risking Galvin. We are currently in 9th, but I think we have peaked a tad early. He was by far best on field in that trial and even if not selected for Rd 2, after a few hidings he’ll be starting before long. Galvin is only 18 so I very much doubt he starts at 6, although Canberra is probably the team to do it I suppose. Benji loves him too! I think Galvin plays 14 as Koro should play 80 to start the season.

Why would you start with Galvin if you think he'll do nothing for a few weeks, before moving on to a low minute bench role? If that does eventuate he'll probably just lower his price well under minimum and its going to take ages before you see any cash from him

Are we even certain the bulk of the kicking is going to Fog now that Strange is his partner?
Strange was the more dominant kicker in the trials so would have to think he's at least a capable kick option going forward. Could steal two or three points away from Fogs.

Edit: I'm currently tossing up ta similar issue and more times than not, I end up with Boyd in my team instead of Fog. In your case, I'd be happy just going Hutch and using the $200k elsewhere.

Nothing is certain but Strange averaged 29 kick metres in 11 games at five-eighth in NSW Cup last year. So it might have been more that Weekes is a poor kicker than Strange a good one.

Think the bulk of the KMs going to Fog probably makes him a safer pick?

How many points do you think Hutch will score, and how do you think he will score them?

No one on McInnes despite starting at 13? Don’t think he’ll still command 55-60 minutes? Could be cheaper alternative to Hopgood

I don't think Blore gets released from the Tigers and slots in at lock for the Storm. Maybe he's just not good? I think his only place is that edge spot or bench. Jackie's a gift from the gods, thank you very much.

Thinking of locking in this team, with the ability to possibly bring in May for Tupouniua if his injury is serious.

    BS9
    Sitili, Cotter, Hopgood
    Piakura, Wong
    Cleary, Boyd
    Burbo, RTS
    Papy, Turbo, Kini

    Hutch, Smithies, Luki, Galvin (loop)

    Strange, Salmon, Hughes, Chan

RTS snuck his way in as it gives me solid cover in the backs, can just rotate Stange and Kini in and out as available.
Happy to see what happens with Smithies. I can't see him losing money over the first 3-4 weeks, so happy to take the gamble.
Nothing has changed for me with Luki.

Galvin's a risk but i think he makes the bench next week and gives me a loop this week.
Boyd... Des gonna work his magic? Happy to lock in a guaranteed 45 points every week. Small upside if he can cut out the silly errors and missed tackles.

Probably will just go lolo myself and evaluate later. Not like he’s going to become a top tier gun anyway, and he’s not cheap enough to worry about missing probably.

He played 31 games last year

    Good to know, thanks!
So maybe losing out on 100 km's is a worse case scenario for Fogs then. If his hamstring isn't an issue, there's still plenty of upsode.

Do it if you want, but if you look at his stats with and without Finucane in the team, there's a big drop off for McInnes with Finucane plays.

    My earlier thoughts

Not really sure on McInnes. At lock with Finucane in last 2 years he’s 53 in 56 mins which is basically at price with early bye.

He also had a major major major outlier of 81 tackles last year which if you exclude that he’s around 56 which is mainly without Finucane and some games without Rudolf

Guess it would be a gamble he gets a bigger role as C and is more important to the team on the field

Have you looked at who his co-captain is?

I’m contemplating double gun at HOK (Grant and Robson/maybe Koroisau). Kinda hilarious as I was adamant that I wasn’t go to spend up at HOK with noticeable drop off last year

Have no Cheese and not confident in having Levi fill in for Grant bye.

Salmon and SHughes MID cover doesn’t really seem sufficient though, especially as not really certain on Hughes v Cotric for last spot

    Yep

Probably assumes duties when McInnes is subbed off to talk to the ref etc

Would be a punt on increased role. Worst case he doesn’t lose cash as he’s at price? Hmm

If Finucane and McInnes swap there starting/bench roles with each other, it could well lead to more minutes/points for McInnes

But its a bit iffy to suggest that he'll get more minutes because he's captain, when the guy we expect to lose out on those minutes has been named co-captain with him

For round 1, the Sharks are without one of last years starting props (Hamlin-Uele) and have benched the other (Rudolf) so who knows what they are planning for their rotation. Its possible both Finucane and McInnes could both shoot up in value.

The way I see it, you get almost the exact same player, with the same upside and risks, for $200k cheaper.

    Go Smithies.

I have a choice between these two options:

    TU: Hopgood + Suli
TD: McInnes + Kiraz with an extra 30k ITB

80 min hook and two 80 min edges, with a four forward bench. Very crowded. I don't think he's a bad pick. I'm going Tohu though.
