It's pretty irrelevant right now anyway as I doubt many if any have the luxury of trading a Smithies or Hosking this week. I'll be starting Hosking and hoping for the best.

Everything is almost always thrown in the wind when game starts anyway, hia every game, injuries, positional switch. I don't get the detailed minute watch, it never eventuates to a reliable formula. The eye test goes along way, and who is going to think ahead of a modern day coach anyway

One more and I ain't fielding 17. Doubtless there are some unfortunate teams out there who have all of the above, plus still hanging onto Luki/Wong/Haas/Kris/Talau/Liddle from last week, plus some or all of Tino/Walsh/Cotter/Tuapiki.
Tentative plan is Moses + Chan to Ponga + KPP but TLT will inevitably make a mockery of that at this rate.

Starting with 3 Melbourne players and Kini was always a realistic chance of having the bare 17 for this round.

There are definitely lessons for all of us in this week. Having 3 players on a bye as guaranteed outs and holding another red dot, is asking for trouble, especially at the start of the season when more limited for trades
The best change they can make to the rules is allowing 4 trades per week from the start. 2 leads to this kind of situation where lots of teams end up playing short
