I have this vague recollection of Ivan once saying that Yeo hates coming off the field and that it's almost impossible to get him to come off (probably even more so when Chin isn't playing) - it's possible I just imagined it, but it felt more credible than the Kangaroo point whisperer

Definitely part of the problem, but the biggest part is our forwards are lacking big time. We get such crap go forward that the backs don't get a chance to run it. And our kicking game sucks, yet we insist on putting up p meaningless bombs constantly

Exactly. Losing narrowly to the current best team in the world during a rebuilding phase is barely even worth batting an eyelid at.

We were lucky to have a generational talent in Dan Carter, there was always going to be a step down from that.

so was frano botica who is 10 times better than mo'unga but he still couldn't beat fox...most tests were very close back then i don't know how many times fox would win the game due to his goal kicking ability...in the recent rugby wc mo'unga kicked no conversions/penalties out wide he missed them all he was appallingly bad why they never switched gkers before the final is a testament of how incompetent the coaching staff were.

Botica played a handful of games for the "baby" ABs iirc. He may have been better, I guess we'll never really know as most of his career was playing RL in England. But in another universe, he might've been.

Pretty sure that Sam Kane getting a red card in the first half was the biggest issue the ABs faced in the WC final (aside from SAF themselves)... but you're welcome to see things how you choose to see them
