In this situation I was looking as it being a major cleanout to the fullest extent, keeping only the key players and prospects. Players like Lino, Palavi, Wells, Allwood deserve NRL contracts, and I do rate them as players...though just with lower ceilings than the 13 picked.
I thought as much with Thompson. I am a little surprised about Lino but you've explained pretty well and now I actually agree with you haha. YOu might be able to nab some eels players after this fiasco that happened today

I really want Lino next to Johnson. All he needs is a bit of exposure, he's already got the skills to complement Johnson really well.

So glad I got Tofu 2 weeks ago at 438k. Was dumb that I could've got him a week earlier for 402k but opted for Frizell instead

This is what happens when you pay over $500k a year for an ageing backrower.
Thinking of failure back row purchases there have been plenty hey.
Blair, Trex, Watmough, Bird, Hoffman, Nate Myles (although now a prop), Lillyman, Joel Thompson

So foran + Watmough take up $2mil of salary cap alone.
Which is only 30% of their cap

I know this may sound harsh but since Foran is an emotional mess & could possibly miss the rest of the season maybe they should offload him.

If even they wanted to they couldn't.
Imagine the PR, and imagine if he ended up topping himself.
Will never happen

I really can't say I see Bird, Hoffman, Myles or Lillyman as failures as such.
Bird has been great for the Titans as much as I hate the guy, as was Myles.
Hoffman had a stellar year for the Warriors last year and Lillyman would not have been expensive and has turned himself into a representative front rower. Not sure I'd even say Joel Thompson has been a failure and Blair.. well just look how he's going at the Broncos...

Re: 2016 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 30
didnt foran have a clause to say if there was board drama's he could walk out?
not saying he would, but from the eels perspective he is a player who other clubs would be seriously interested in (cap space permitting/etc).
it would be a disaster for eels fans though.

I see Tevanga as too short term. Surely Luke will be back starting and Tevaga is just not going to get big scores.
I like the guy as a player but I just do not see him as a good option, especially not in the hooker position.

Yeah, would be interesting to see how it was phrased in the contract.

Too risky IMO. I think poor old Macca needs to go though, as much as I like him as a player, I'd offload him if I had him.
There really is zero options at hooker around that price or lower. If that Godinet was confirmed for a few weeks he'd be worth a look, but Api will be back and probably a few others so probably won't even see another game.

Yeah, I agree. Luke minutes should increase to the point that he is back to being an 80 minute guy so one would think Jazz's minutes would decline, and he may well go back to NYC soon.
That being said it could well depend on what happens with the pill popping boys. Minutes could still be up for grabs with the fates of Matulino, Vete, Thompson, and Lisone undecided. Jazz and Luke did play a number of minutes together on the field from memory as well so I guess its a bit of a wait and see at the moment.

Good point in that losing his job on top of everything else could send him to a very dark place.

Myles I've never really rated, matter of opinion i guess.
Lillyman, you guys paid 400-500k for, I really don't think he has been worth that.
Hoffman I thought has been mediocre, he isn't a Corey Parker, Trent Merrin or Sam Burgess. He is on circa 500k a year as well.
They aren't bad players, just not worth there price tags IMO

Almost a million just on Hoffman and Lillyman!? I'd ask for my money back, Hoffman is terrible especially.

Thanks boys on the Macca to Tevaga replies. I have enough to go straight to Peats but all the recent developments have me doubting that move as I'm not sure how motivated the players will be after losing all their points. I might get another frf like Tolman via dpp's instead.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna hold off on any Eels until I see how they go. They might fall over in a heap or they might use it as motivation and come out swinging, you just don't know.
I'm really looking at Tolman too. He's in that price range like Harris, Graham and De Belin was and potentially could go up 75K or more over the next few weeks, just like we have seen them do. That's the feeling I'm getting from him anyway.
