Bad news for the QLD team. Pearce has said he doesn't want to play Origin this year.

I don't know the values, but it's clear with the extra cap this year and lack of corresponding rise in player starting prices chasing the cows has been less crucial.
I think a lot of people could well end up with an excess of cash in their banks without being able to make much improvement to their final playing 17.
To make the game more appealing strategically I'd like to see them go the other way. Doubt it will happen though.
Go Kiwis
Completely agree. As shit as I am going this year, I would love if the game mechanics developed to a point where you have a backrow of say Surgess, Papalii and Gav Cooper and that is seen as a very good backrow rather than just a top level gun and then say two PODs which it would be now. Pretty much everyone's squads tend to look pretty similar come round 20 or so bar 2 or 3 PODs in the 17. I think the injuries this year has changed it up a bit but would still like it to get to a point where half your side is different to the guy you face in a h2h rather than just 3 or 4

i think most serious players squads are already looking very similar, its basically pool of 40 - 45 or so players that would make up most teams (from guns to cows to cash outs).

Just to further solidify how much trouble the kiwis are in tonight, here is a team made of players who are not playing tonight for various reasons:

I still have Macca & if he'll play round 12 I'll keep him as he'll play 80 & with a b/e of 68 for round 10 (which should be unchanged roughly by round 12) then I'll back him to get close to that. I'm burning trades so if he's a chance to come back early then I'll keep Macca.

This is hardly surprising. He'll probably be back next week knowing him.

Yeah a lot of players. Foran is a huge loss though, the biggest IMO. SJ is gonna have a heck of a time when it comes to the kicking game. Is there anyone else in our side that will kick? SJ gonna end up on his arse so many times tonight. Mannering may well be a big loss too.
That being said, I reckon the Kiwis still have a sneaky chance. If they can keep pounding up the middle the likes of JBrom, Taupau, Taumalolo etc may be able to generate enough go forward and 2nd phase ball we might have a chance. Gonna have to slow the Ozzies right up though and stop them getting too much space on the fringes. We are looking pretty fragile out there with all the changes. I hope its a close game at least!

I have a feeling there will be a SJ injury tonight. Mainly cause he's in my team.

These one off test matches are always lopsided in favour of Australia so expecting the same. However in the last couple of years the Kiwis seem to have a new found confidence & believe in themselves.

games are won and lost in the forwards, the kiwis have the forward pack now to stand up and even get over the top of the aussies. lot of quality experience there too.

Only thing that worries me about the NZ forward pack is that we don't really have an "enforcer" or someone who is going to really going to get stuck into the rough stuff. Against a team of Gallen, Smith, Papalii, Tamou, Thaiday, McGuire...
Taupau for sure, Blair... is that it? Not really inspiring in terms of bite.
Then again Taupau alone fires me up when he's playing for the kiwis. Loved watching him in black so far.

That's right. Over the last couple of years our pack has dominated the Aussie pack & as they are young it could be an era of Kiwi success. It's a shame SKD has been ruled out because he offers the x factor out wide.

People predicting a big Aussie win, but not sure why. I think it will be a close one. The last three games the Kiwi's have just been hungrier, simple as that. Hopefully some of that hungry from Origin 3 can be on show tonight.

It because we historically don't do so well in these 1 off tests. But you're right in that the Kiwis are a different team now than the one that didn't perform previously.
