Re: 2016 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 32
I guess this is when I should weigh up the value in those byes a bit more. I mean I'm considering a guy like Cordner to bring in just after Rd 12. He's not terrible, 50 points is nice and all, but in the long run I can't help but feel I'll more then make up for his bye points by just getting Mannering instead.
Hmm.. think I've convinced myself.

Verbatim my reason for the trade especially the last sentence. Aitken either goes for Ted eventually or gets moved to centres or stays if something happens to Ted. Or if the latter happens Barba could even come back in after the byes as I agree he could certainly be a keeper.
No offense, but that's got to be one of the craziest things I've read on here.

No offence taken. So the Barba trade is bad, or just the part about getting him back in?

I think the reason to trade him now due to the fact most of his points are from big attacking stats and his made a shit ton of money is completely fine. But to trade him back in at a premium price seems like madness to me. Wasting 2 trades on a cow that you started the year with and has become a keeper.

18 at present, but certainly not enough to be wasting them like that.mulvy wrote:

If you feel that Barba isn't a keeper, no problems trading him out. As you say, his points come in 1 or 2 runs per game and he's a risk.
But then you say that he may be a keeper and you might trade him back in.
With all the early injuries this year, trades will be gold come the end of the year when a gun goes down.

I don't disagree. Like I said the plan is to probably have Ted, Munster, Mitchell as my three with Aitken during the byes. Barba would only be entertained later if shit happens and I have trades left. I was kinda just saying that I agree that he's a potential keeper, and some will keep him, but for me I'll probs keep Mitchell. Make sense?

mulvy wrote:I've literally changed my trades about 100 times so far. Thinking:
Barba -> Aitken
Aubbs -> Mooper
Gives me
Smith Parcell
Graham JBrom Blaw Herman
Surgess Jturbo whitehead Cartwright Mooper Fensom
Hunt Norman Hastings Lamb
Holland Claw auva'a Benry
Munster Aitken Mitchell Guth Feeney
17 trades left 172k
4 red dots but hopefully Fensom and Herman play round 12. Next week, assuming Asiata (or someone better) gets named he cashes out Blaw via Surgess. Should leave a chunk of cash to bring in Friend or Harris or hopefully both over the next few weeks. Fensom might become Mannering.
Would someone pick apart my plan please?
I know you are right up there mate so respect for thinking outside the box. Understand Aitken is tempting and I grabbed him last week. But have you done your bye assessment yet in regards players between 12 and 19? You may not need to make this move (probably do but just putting it out there).
If you have what can be seen as average bye numbers then you might be better off holding the trades.

Well that does make sense. I made a similar move last year over byes and it paid off big time. Just treat Barba as never coming back into your team and we will probably all breathe a bit easier
