Re: Draft Game 2016 V2
Draft strat:
So for me, I initially took it like I do any draft, mocked up an ideal team because like HS said the team matters rather than just individual players. This gave me an idea of where i might want to get to. Then I went through and assessed each individual position and ranked players as well as tried to identify the depth of a position. For example hooker I could rate the positions, but IMO once you get past the Hodgo and Smith, the rest are a bit of a wash (You could make an argument for Ennis after this season), no point chasing hard here if you don't get the best, so the rankings matter far less. I think this was pretty common for all of us.
Then came the actual progess of the draft, and as i was dead last (the first time I have been in a snake draft) I decided to try something a little different. As people knocked off top targets in the usual positions (Spine), i tried to change the direction of the draft by picking other positions(such as wingers, 2R). Hoping that if one or two others also picked someone there, the drying up of smaller pools might change what people are picking in a rush to get in before they miss out. Not sure it worked, but was fun and it meant I was able to get a fair few of the players I wanted.
I also jumped about a bit, so once I had Papa and Kapow, I was pretty happy that just about any other 2nd rower would slot in there nicely and the priority of that position shifted down significantly. Was a happy surprise that I picked up Proctor, bloke is an out and out gun, but I was content to get someone worse if it came to it.

Re: Draft Game 2016 V2
Done a few drafts now and approached this one the same way. The only difference is instead of picking based on what the player could potentially do in the season ahead, had the advantage of being able to pick based on hindsight and the season that had just been. Sure, but our get pipped on some players you love (I would've killed for JBrom and a Teddy or Munster as well as a few others) but by the same token, I liked what I saw of some kids this year like Cleary and Fuckfita each etc and am not disappointed by having them. The very nature of a draft is that it's a race to the best players but in this format I felt that consistency (players not always injured etc) and potential as well as a good season should count for something.

I also tried to pick players I thought would work well together. So when I already had Manners I didn't want say Et or Fensom who are like players. Again, there's better edge runners than Gillett and Bodene but they fit well with what I felt I was putting together. If I was actually the coach of that side in the NRL would I be happy?!? Yeah, I would. May not be under the cap but I'd go close and be pretty happy with the roster.

Re: Draft Game 2016 V2
have to build a team capable in all phases of the game which was my draft mantra, picking the top players in those respective positions was a plus, was aiming for pre ranked top 5 in all key positions, which i felt i achieved. FB, at least 1 Half, prop, backrow, CTR and wing
2 best players were gone by my pick so I went after a cornerstone in Fifita who I felt I could build a pack around. Mcguire adds the workrate, grunt and attitude
Then I went after the best attacking weapon in the game in James Tedesco, almost picked him up in R1 and surrounded him with the no.1 wing in the comp and Bmoz
Needed a top quality half so picked up the one with the best all round game, probably bar Cronk in Foran, loved this pick! JT obvs no.1. Areyn my favourite pick that late in the draft offers the immense kicking game Foran lacks. complimentry pick again, bulding a TEAM
Luke even after a down year is still one of the top 5 rakes in the NRL, Parcell who was fantastic for the Sea Eagles last year a great compliment off the bench! loved the combo
got my favourite player in the Friz who is a top 3 edge backrower i have Wade and Gillett as the others, couldn't leave Gal there any longer and was head and shoulders above the Locks left (didnt want to shift Friz into the middle, and grab another edge forward wanted to keep the balance) got the balance right again adding Lowe. no nonsense
again no team complete without bench, wanted some size for Des, so added RCG, and Tariq. Thaiday a great pick later in the draft offering versaitily and clutchness
Des a top 3 coach in the NRL

@Mearcats Doesn't actually matter in how I'd vote for your team as both are great goal kickers, more a curiosity thing, who would be the kicker in your team? I assume Croker but then again I personally thought he was the best kicker in the comp this year and NRL only had him at no 3. so perhaps my judgement is clouded. Also, on kickers I assume Jesus gets the nod @Standard has an issue ? Not sure who I'd give it to personally in that team, I'd probably just let Robbie decide.

Croker all day mate. I think it's something less for cam to stress about (also why I put the C on Smith so less stress for Croker) and inasmuch as Cam is a kick ass goal kicker I rate Croker well higher than 3rd.

Re: Draft Game 2016 V2
I understand some guys going for proven blokes in their twilight but I just liked the mix of young and old. Experience and exuberance if you will. And the young guys that I did pick didn't do themselves any harm this year regarding performance so I was fine with that. Croker and Coote in the back, so much experience yet still so young.

When he's not injured I'd have areyn there yep. JT in the last few years was easily number one but he's proven this year that he's fallible

I alternate between fuck and phuck, because to me i imagine pronouncing phuck is a little funnier and more tongue in cheek depending on the context.
So fuck you ill say whatever the phuck i want!
