Souths and Parramatta are the only 2 teams that play all 3 big bye rounds.
So non origin players from those teams are valuable.

If you want to make decisions based on quality of opponent, then you have to make sure that
    a) you can accurately predict which teams will start the season in good/poor form
    b) quality of opponent actually impacts scores for the player you are/aren't getting

With Ballin at $214K, Liddle at $221K, Mcllwrick $143K in that order I think I will stay away from Tigers hookers.
Then you have De Gois $275K, Pritchard $185K and Cameron King $138K for the Eels with King the only one I may go near with the potential to make $100K.

Then you have the Sharks hookers in Cherrington, Brailey, F Brown and Mortimor and out of that lot I would go with Brailey if he got the start.

This Hooker decision is going to be hard, but I think at this stage I will lock in Smith and one of Farah/McInnes depending on Charity Shield performances/and bench for round 1.

To avoid headaches I have pencilled in Smith with Josh Hodgson for now.

The goal at this stage will be to bank around $500,000 straight up again.  Very happy with how it worked last year.

Hey Sid I thought that was someone else. Care to elaborate on this strategy and how it went? In your opinion what are the pros and cons?

So this is where all the cool kids hang out during the holidays and just like school I'm always late to the party.

Slater, Whare, Ballin and Lane all priced above their 2016 average, damn! Was hoping they would come in at 143K.

Whare, Idris, and Hurrell all have the injury cloud above their heads... that's why i'm thinking of having all 3 in my Centres, one of them should make it through most of the season right? One of them will probably be the Henry of 2017 Crying or Very sad

    Laughing

    Definitely Smith Exclamation

as for the 2nd position, I'm leaning towards Cherrington/Brailey... but we'll see how the nines and trails pan out

Segeyaro will be somewhere by the start of the season (probably Cronulla), depending on how much pre-season he gets he'll be a go at his 2016 NRL price. If they use his ESL scores he'll be closer to his real price. Smith/Sege sounds good.

If Smith is too expensive, Kostjasin is the low-price hooker that appeals most to me at the moment, along with King if he starts.

Not in the starting side, barring injuries

Rory Kostjasyn is a bigger fantasy dud than Cameron King is.

There is nothing about his fantasy output that should make him even the slightest bit tempting.

Including finals, Kostjasyn played 26 games last year. Averaged 40 minutes and managed just 3 scores over 30.
    Avoid.

Cheers Milchy - I thought as much just not savy re the Tigers Roster, he also has JT ( the Hat ) as coach so who knows where any of them will play.

On Walker. I don't think home & away matters much in league as compared to sports like soccer. Souths first 4 games are Wests (h), Manly (a), Knights (a), Roosters (h). None of these teams were top 8 last year (Roosters an anomaly) so imo that's a pretty good opening set of games & Souths backline assets look a good punt for points.

    Avoid.

Agree, Kostjasyn is a very big trap. I also think King will struggle to score 30 points playing 50 minutes, with the way the Eels like to throw the ball around out wide everything will go directly to Norman I reckon.
In 2013 King had a worse PPM than Isaac DeGois. King played 11 games, averaged 21 from 37 minutes.

Why not just start with two out and out guns then downgrade if a Parcell/Garvey turn up. At this stage all the rookie hookers are looking like 50 min 30 point players at best (struggling to make $100K in a two player position which is very risky).

I'm looking at Whare, Hurrell, and Idris as mid range cash cows/potential keepers in the centres. I probably won't start with a gun or a cheapie there.

If Whare was bottom dollar instead of 205k he might be worth it but at that price it's a pass for me. Hurrell is injured atm & may not make round 1. I'm intrigued by Idris & he has the potential to do a Leilua in 2017 but maybe a wait & see approach might be prudent re Idris.

There is a very limited sample size of a fit 80 minute Adam Reynolds playing at half alongside Cody Walker at five eighth. He will be a bye target trade for me once his price inevitably comes down from the 50 point average, and will look to get him into the wing/fullback slot for the byes.

Whare averaged 33 in 2015, and about 28 for the 2 years before that.

They have given his price an artificial boost and he'll still only priced at about 21.5, so if he stays fit he'll rise in value.

Just a shame that he wasn't available priced on his 2016 output so everyone could get him for mininum

My theory on picking Cody Walker is this. Glass jaw A-Rey will get injured in round 1 or 2 allowing Cody Walker to assume the dominant half position & he'll belt out 50's & 60's. Also Souths are the only team to play rounds 12, 15, 18 & 19 (the 4 big bye rounds) which means they are the best team for byes.

Whare/Slater/Ballin/Shaun Lane etc if these guys were all base price like we expected they would be in my team providing there were no injury concerns come round 1.
I would rather spend the $60K somewhere else and get Robert Jennings at 138K even though he may not be named round 1 he should get game time at some stage
