NSW State of Origin side 2017

Well, because footy is back its time to start talking origin and what better way to start than by guessing what the NSW team will be this year. For the first time in a long time we look like we actually have the pack and firepower to beat QLD. This is my team - ill do what I want, then ill do what I think they will pick

1. Tedesco - if he isnt picked at 1, you can fuck right off loz

3. Mitchell - if you dont pick mitchell this year, you can fuck right off loz

9. This is the biggest ? Prob farah I guess considering peats is made of glass.

I tend to agree. I'd love to see the 1st team but Loz will fuck it up and pick the 2nd team, lose origin again, get sacked and Des will pick the first team next year.

Would love to see the Peach get picked actually. Hayne can fuck off, or Merrin

I love watching Peachey play, but he has got that error or silly play in him.

Please don't pic Ted at 1. Tat is worst case scenario for Queensland I reckon.

NSW can have Inglis back now. No backsies.

Johns thinks the halves will be Maloney and Pearce. He even went as far to say that Maloney HAS to be there.

jennings is probably a sure thing but never fills me with alot of confidence

Croker ? could be a good bet if he comes back alright
mitchell ? not yet
Jmoz - inglis is out so any argument for him is gone
Dugan, probably the safest option but again with inglis out i feel like we should be going for a better option on the right


i'm a huge aitken fan, i don't think he is as far off as what most others may

Don't mind the look of Welshy and LG's team's and NSW should again rightly go into the series as red hot favourites.

Agree with LG about the centre predicament too.
BJ can't keep his head in a normal game, let alone SOO.
Mitchell is way too soon.
I don't rate Bird.
Crocker/JMoz, will do the job if need be...but meh.

A few assumptions here, namely that Mansour is still unavailable (I don't really know how his injury is going), and that Hayne comes good somewhere near he used to be, not like the average stuff he is dishing up at the moment.

NSW depth and options look as good as I can remember. They'll have a strong team even if there are half a dozen worthy players miss out on the 17. Should be a great series again.

Our obvious lack of depth is at 9. The plethora of options is mainly fullback but we've got a lot of great second rowers as well. If we can just make it all click, either way our future looks bright.

If there wasn't a guy by the name of Cam Smith playing for QLD, then you'd say the depth is fine at 9 as well. Farah and Peats are two of the top hookers playing in the NRL (excluding Smith).

Farah will go okay this year. He can still tackle, have a good kicking game, and organise from dummy half. At the tigers he either forgot how to run from dummy half, or was instructed or chose not to (and let's be honest, with a powder puff like Aaron Woods doing 25 hitups a match that don't stretch the defensive line, there probably weren't that many chances anyway to have a scoot from dummy half). I reckon the running game will be back this year with the Rabbits. I could be wrong though.

halves are still the biggest issue, we generally have a fair few guys that are really good NRL halves but since joey and freddy left, we've had no one who could be consistently good at this level.


in that time QLD have had 3 (JT, Cronk and locky) and the year we won DCE was in there because of injury



Maloney will never be at the level of those 3 but doesn't seem to shit himself either.


Pearce has had a million shots and never succeeded, he may never be able to but at club level, he is by far our most complete halve imo. i still find myself picking him for that reason

I think Adam Reynolds kicking game was really under valued when we had him. I like the combo of him and Maloney however I don't think they'll go with that. Moylan is their future 6 however he can't defend in the line.

Nope, after watching mitchell play fullback and wing last year, and centre this year - he is young, but clearly ready to be put there. He is the same age as GI when he was picked and the guy is a GI clone.

Pick him on the wing or at centre.

Mansour .. really? He will have played like 2/3 games by the time origin is around.

Blood Tommy Trbo and Mitchell.

Michael Jennings doesnt need to be there.
Mansour will be too underdone.

It amazes me that people dont want Latrell mitchell - the clone of GI there, or tommy trbo -yet want to pick Jennings and josh mansour.

If the wingers are TTrbo and Mitchell and the centres are Dugan/Bird/Leilua I would be happy. Those 2 young freaks need to be in the side.
