Hey everyone, good to see everyone here again for another season. Fair to say reading through the posts that I'm in the boat with enough injuries to sink it.
Coming into this round, after reading those bloody team lists, I have 1 WFB and 0 HLFs. The WFBs are a combo of RTS, Hayne, Python, Edwards and some other nobody. Halfs are Jacks and Norman, with 2 other nobodies.
So this week I'm taking a punt, I'm cashing out Carty and bringing in Elliott from the Dogs, not enjoying carty and actually can see him being pretty average for a few more rounds yet. Anyway what this actually does is it gives me enough cash to trade out a Nobody HLF and bring in Keary. Keary is going realllll good and looks to be a bargain if he keeps his scores. This will also give me a HLF this week.
Still leaves me staring at a red light disco in my WFB this week but I figure that's all guess work anyway and I wouldn't mind waiting a week to see what develops with some of the cows yet to play their first game.

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 18
So I'm going to roll the Dice on ET to Hess and Hayne to Rennings leaving 141K for upgrades with JBrom, Whitehead and Bodene Thompson priorities. Should be able to get two of them for two trades.
Leaves a pretty poor 17 without Norman and Jacks and having to play Elgey. Will likely upgrade Elgey to Lamb next week depending on how they both go.
Smith, McInnes
Fifita, Faufusi
JWallace, Hess, Sironen, Mata'utia
Johnson, Elgey
DWalker, Moga
Turbo, RTS, Cotric
2 reserves from Frankenstein, Yates, Kelly, Suli and Rennings.
Red dots of Papalii, Leota and Idris. Will probably sit on Leota and Idris but move papalii next week to someone.

Abbey gets 4-6 weeks then all Sundays when Hoppa goes on his missions R8, R11, R13 more than enough time to make some cash, plus may get goalkicking duties and in a half decent backline with plenty of pack go forward, I think he goes wellShanbon wrote:Man I've seen some pretty avg trade proposals across the forum and Facebook.
Is brining in a 2-4 week player worth 2 trades?
I get the people bringing in Hess his scores have been awesome but to me it doesn't feel right, I don't believe he will start even with Lolo out. I think one of the middle forwards come in as direct replacement. I like whoever starts for Scott and I know PK has been named and I might risk it but would not surprise me to see a late change there.
Bringing in Abbey or Montoya seems like a really bad idea, you get 4 weeks at best to make money, what are you going to do if they avg 20? I think the winger from the Titans has the best long term prospects plus we got a free week of watching him and he looked good.

Do not buy Elliot mate, he is a plodder, benefited from the two backline injuries to play 53 minutes. Got 44 with a try, LB and tackle break which he won't get again this season (take 15 away from his score he gets 29 in 53 minutes) He will be lucky to score more than 20 next game and won't play more than 25 minutes. scored 13 points from 8 minutes first round.
If you don't have Brock Lamb I suspect he is a better purchase than Keary, although Keary could be worth the gamble so up to you on this 1.

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 18
Doing KBrom>Capewell to bank some cash and Phythian to Jennings. Jennings has plenty of cash left to make and Capewell should make some decent cash, hopefully cement his spot ahead of Edrick Lee and then hang around for the first 2 byes. Don't like the idea of buying an outside back in the second row but much better than the other options IMO. Can see Spina coming in for Cowboys, and while he has proven ability to put up big scores I don't think he gets a big role for long enough to justify the trade. Watch him put out a 40 point 40 minute performance this week and be the most traded in player next week.
This is how I line up this week
Smith Brailey
Fifita Musgrove Kaufusi
Gallen ET JWal Sione Sironen
Lamb Elgey
Kelly Cotric
Munster RTS Jennings
NPR: Yates, Capewell, Norman, Jacks, Idris, Talakai, Suli, Hayne

Holland could come back and play FB? Hasler switches Borris to FB just before kick off... Abbey has a rubbish game and becomes the next Talakai.

Understand the BMoz switch but Holland is out for 4 weeks isn't he so should be 4 games minimum, has Holland played FB before? Then you have the extra Sunday games where a FB/wing spot opens up again. Risk yes, but same with any of the new WFB cows just think Abbey has the best shot.Loomer wrote:

Big lad as well and reason I like him over Jennings is the Talakai reason you mentioned earlier, could be gone after 1 game the same as he wasLoomer wrote:

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 18
Norman out gives me the shits. Have to play Hingano now and bring Walker into the halves via Fogarty. Wonder if Hingano could go big for once and Pritchard could stop falling off tackles?
Team this week;
Smith, Pritchard
McGuire, Vaughan, Paufusi
Surgess, Hess, ET, Kaufusi, Bateman
Walker, Hingano
Sione, Kelly
Turbo, RTS, Rennings
I.Papalli, Yates, Norman, Jacks, Idris, Suli, Fogarty, Hayne
Trades this week were Kromwich > Hess, Pythian > Rennings. Zero cash left. Lots of red dots.
Main concern is whether Suli would be a better option than Kelly, Rennings, or one of the other reserves.
Anyway.....go Hingano!

Jennings' spot is secure. He's the goods. Talakai will be back as a bench forward imo.

Thanks for that.
By the way, just in case anyone doesnt know, the Warriors Dogs game is being played under a roof so no weather interference.
Its a good track to play on in Dunedin so no excuses for anything but a good fast game from both teams!
Hingano should therefore have every chance to put up a decent total.

You make a good point but at the same time my backline is a complete mess and a stop-gap option seems like the best way to deal with it. With Hayne's injury and Talakai getting dropped I would have to rely on some combo of Suli/Cotric/Kelly or Burns to fill 2 spots which is hardly ideal. Abbey frees up a tiny bit of cash and Hoppa's injury could be up to 6 weeks.
Roberts-Davis could have the better job security but I'd be weary of bringing in a winger from an injury ravaged team.

I have neither but I still have feeling Burns will do well
