A comment somebody made earlier.
"learned my lesson wasting trades on CTR and WFB cheapies."
Really got me thinking. I'm already stacked with cheapies, Suli, Cotric, Kelly, Uate, Moga.
I don't think im missing the next Tedesco in Jennings. So I'll save the trade. Not sure jennings will outscore any of the aforementioned.

This is my thinking too.
Without even looking at figures, Rennings might be 220-230k when Hayne returns (question is, when will he return? Maybe he only misses 2 or 3 rounds). In which case I'd rather just have Hayne still..
Trading Hayne to Rennings only gets me 40k in hand.

Any thoughts on these trades:
Siro - Hess
Talakai - Rennings
Leaves me with $74k
Smith / Brailey (R)
McGuire / Wallace / F.Kaufusi (R) / Yates
JDV / Surgess / ET / S.Mat (R) / Hess (R) / Stone
A.Taylor / Lamb / Elgey / Jacks
D.Walker / Kelly / Idris / Rennings
Homes / Suli / Cotric / Hayne / RTS
After re-thinking it I would be silly to trade Surgess, specially with bye coverage !

@Filthridden very similar team to mine. What is your rank. Are you hit by Norman being out?
I have Wallace, Dylan Walker and turbo to your surgess and tedesco.
Full squad
Smith, McInnes
Fifita, Faufusi, Ese'ese, Papali'i
Surgess, Hess, Sironen, SiMat, Yates,
Johnson, Lamb, Elgey, Field
Moga, Kelly, Idris, Talakai
Tedesco, Rjennings, Suli, Cotric,
Never had Norman and pretty glad with that as it was a toss up between him and Johnson for a while there. Went with the proven gun.
Had people last week telling me that Norman was the better option (why would you have Johnson now when he's gonna get cheaper mid season when he has a bunch of low scores) and my reasoning is that he'll hit 60s for a while anyway... Norman doesn't look so great all of a sudden.
trading out ET because I think he'll just continue to average what he did last season. His minutes/workrate were really hardly effected by his headclash/bleeding and no saying that he it won't happen a few more times this season and maybe he'll be forced to sit out a few games. Hess is too good to pass up for mine.
I see him as a Gurgess type - tackle-busting machine off the bench. He's just too good to leave out of the 17 and has that Fifita-like strength to push defenders off... two at a time.
Gennings is more of a risk but he should at least make a bit of coin and already has that one big score behind him. I still have Talakai... he's not a priority especially if he happens to play the bye weeks (unlikely but possible). I have traded out Hayne largely due to scepticism of his commitment and injury... plus I was expecting him to score a lot better from the get go and therefore make a bit of cash.

Been thinking about the Cowboys.
Early in the season there was a lot of noise about the Cowboys trying to give Hess extra minutes. Those who missed his Bonanza last week missed out, but not completely.
As a permanent prop or high-minute 2nd rower, or a combo of the two, he will level out in the mid 400ks at least and stay there with potentially more. That is keeper territory and much better than the exisiting 2RF cash cows. Could be in for DPP status as well.
So this week (strong proposition) longer term (fairly certain value).
I think that Hoare if he plays for the Cowboys it will be next week, so there is time to hold off, but the time for Hess is now. This is in contrast to what I said yesterday, but Hoare (wait and see), get on Hess now.
My trades
Moeroa to Hess
Elgey to Lamb
WFB of RTS, Hayne, Phythian, Holmes, and Suli.
I am going to take the risk that Holmes will play and I will need to rely on a AE of (Yates or Kelly). The downgrade of Moeroa is upwards and Lamb is a timely upgrade.
I'm thinking along these lines too. I think I'll roll the dice and trade out Cartwright for him and bank the 110K. With a player of his caliber, they can't not give him time on the field.

The upside would be that in 4-5 weeks when you trade Jennings back to Hayne you can net another $50k or more. (assuming Jennings can average 30 or so)
So make money, plus gain an additional scorer whilst Hayne is out.
Such things are debatable, but not an outright terrible waste of trades

Don't kid yourself, you only have SJ because you get hard for him and the warriors.
Norman will have the higher total at the end of the year

no. But he did score much better in the 2nd half of the year than the first. Still not gun like though.Ross96p wrote:Was wighton a gun last year?

HOK: I would love to hear your thoughts re Kaysa as I am running with him at the moment. A lot of potential there with 80 minutes and the fact he likes to tackle. Couple that with decent byes he should be a hold throughout most of the Origin period, however he would have peaked by then.
FRF: Matagi scored a lot closer to what I expected of him at the start of the season. What are you expecting from Matagi? Again great byes being an Eels player however if he scores 30 points on average he will peak around $270k by Round 7 and then in the 5 rounds it takes to get to Origin he will only make $10k which isn't great for someone taking up so much money and being a part of your 17 long term. Do you expect better than a 30 point average, or are you going to miss out on his upside re byes and trade him sooner. Musgrove could potentially be hurt by G. Burgess and end up in the same position as Matagi. Although I have him as well I am taking a wait and see approach on him.
2RF: No problems, you know who the guns are and who the cows are.
HLF: Risky not trading Carty this week if his injury is a problem again. However if he can get a consistent score it should be fine. He is carrying a BE of 81 so unless he hits his keeper status again this year it could really bleed cash from your team. Although I understand wanting to see how he pulls up from injury considering the other pressing trades to make.
CTR: No real issues everyone has these players.
WFB: Looking extremely thin and this is after you made some trades to try and fix up this position. I am not sold on Abbey, he may get goal kicking but I could also see him under performing and being out of the side in 3-4 weeks. Which makes it hard to see how he makes enough cash to warrant a trade in and then out. He may get some time through the Origin period but I do see him as a risk.
Wowwweeee Yohhhhyeeehhh!
On phone so excuse bad formating.
HOK - Kaysa. He's a Cashie Hooker who I went because news on Seggy scared me. Kaysa might be a tackling machine but he's got nothing in attack and his size means he gets bumped often. I wouldn't mind going to Hodgson before SoO but that is a convo for 5 weeks time where we'll have a better idea of our bye coverage. Good point though could be a hold.
FRF - Matagi is Packer 2.0 and that's about it. Will get us cash but don't expect steller results. Hold for SoO is same basis as the Kaysa chat above. I'd like him to get low 30s.
Musty is just doing his job. Looks like the Burgess twins are on the out..who knows. Musty is in the same boat as the Matagi Congo because Rabbits play first bye round.
HLF - Carty is a hold based purely on principle that I brought him in for a reason and nothing has changed if he ends up being OK. Expect panicked coaches to drop him so be it
WFB - if not Abbey then who and why? My WFB will always be thin at the start of the season its how I build my team and where all the cashies are this year.
There was another comment after about being burned wasting trades on cashcow ctr/WFB in a prior season. The guy who wins fantasy will be the guy who takes the punt on the cashcows and gets them right. Its a race to get the top 17 scoring in your squads and that's only done by basement cashies doing well. You're not always going to get it right but its better to do then don't

No.
Busted out a few big scores here and there but nothing Tedesco-esque and certainly no claim to gun status.

Averaged 35 in a Canberra team that scored a lot of points. No real injury or other extenuating circumstances

I'm thinking I'll get Moga this week.
My second trade is a two-way battle between R. Jennings and Abbey

or would trading out Hayne for Abbey and Talakai for Hess via S.Mat be a better option.
Would leave me $32k.
