Seems like there is a lot of speculation re the Knights line up and I must admit I am now a little confused.

Is it fair to say the NRL.com predicted line up is just what they think will happen? And the only thing that has actually been confirmed is that Elliot and Tupou have been dropped out. And Newcastle have advised PetMat will go to FB.

Outside of that it is just speculation that SMat will got to Centre and Yates to the starting 2RF spot right?

    Nah starting role only.

Although Yates on the bench vs Brailey with Segeyaro on the bench may not score very differently.

Pretty much bang on mate. Nothing official over SMat moving, just NRL.coms updated list. Weird to say the least.

I suspect Wardle will play centre over moving Yates to lock. At this stage its probably irrelevant what happens with Yates (45-50mins with a score of 30-35), and Smat will get moved to centre midgame when a Knights back goes down, probably PMat given the luck of the #1 jersey at the knights.

I had a chat to one of my mates (a die-hard Knights fan) earlier this year about the likelihood of Smat moving to CTR this season. He replied that they have too much depth in the backs for that to happen.

Even so, they have lost a few people to injury and the scenario is getting more likely.

I think Wardle will play CTRs
There is more flexibility with Smat starting 2RF and Yates coming of the bench to cover.

    Pick 3:

Brailey - Averaging well but risk of Seggy taking some minutes?
Yates - Starting? good scorer if can get decent minutes
Smat - Playing?? in CTRs.. If true, may not score as well
Sironen - Poor form but 'should' score high 30s based on last years PPM/mins
Jacks - Workhorse - and looked good in attack in the dry last week

Slightly odd but I'm leaning towards leaving SMat and Sironen as NPRs.

    Thoughts??

By the way, I never saw anything but this obviously means SMat passed his concussion test which I understand was on Thursday?

    Fox sports says this:

Peter Mata’utia will take Brendan Elliot’s spot at fullback. Nathan Ross has overcome an ankle issue and will be right to play, with either Jacob Gagan or Englishman Joe Wardle to come in at centre.

And yeah, official Knights site only saying that PMAT moving to fullback, nothing else.

What are you suggessting the NRL do - name a squad without positions at all?
Have a bunch of TBAs for players we don't know about?

No teamlists are final until an hour before kickoff.

With the new rules the players have to be at least named in the 21, and then the reduced squad of 19 (24 hours before kick off), but the starting side is never 100% confirmed until 1 hr before kick off, and the coach is never obligated to stick with what he has named until that point.

I do understand, and I guess you're right. It would make it tough when clubs say that one of the starting 17 drops out and they don't name any replacements, like Elliot and Friend yesterday I never thought of it that way.

I reckon they could caveat the whole thing by saying this is their predicted lineup.

Currently, given they are the official site of the comp, it reads as if its a done deal:
"Updated Knights: The Knights have made some changes with Peter Mata'utia replacing Brendan Elliot, Sione Mata'utia shifting to the centres, with Luke Yates coming into the starting pack"

    They could/should say:
"Updated Knights: The Knights have made some changes with Peter Mata'utia replacing Brendan Elliot, we predict Sione Mata'utia will shift to the centres, with Luke Yates coming into the starting pack"
