Yeah I've dropped Jacks from the 17 for now.. Munster's slated for a Rd 8 return, so hopefully it's just Bellamy mindgames.. He named Munster a few times last year and ended up missing 3-4 weeks instead of 1.

I'm still tossing up where to burn my 2nd trade, 26 left currently after upgrading Yates to Whitehead with 7k to spare.

Looking at this sack of potatoes atm:

    (C)am, Brailey
    McGuire, James, FKaufusi
    Manners, JDB, Whitehead, Merrin, Sironen
    Lamb, Hampton
    SMat, Idris
    RTS, Slater, Cotric

NPR: Leota, Frankenstein, Jacks, Maloney, Kelly, Suli, Uate, Abbey.

Bummed that I can't fit Uate in somewhere, but he almost cost me 44 points last start, so he can sit in the corner and think about what he's done this week.

If Frawley makes a starting appearance, then I'll be torn on having to dump Jacks or Maloney for him. Maloney's so dirt cheap now at like 250k, I think I've gotta hold him until he recoups those losses somewhat. Jacks days look to be numbered barring injury.

Taking a shot on Hampton in the 17 this week. If Dragon's forwards dominate, then I'm hoping for a lot of KMs. Likely won't get the tackle counts of last week, but at least showed he isn't the worst defender. If Cowboys pull off the upset when down on troops, hopefully Hampton's able to cash in, but will probably be Morgan stepping up and leading the way. Either way, it's better than Maloney and probably Jacks.

If there's no Frawley, then I might kill off Kelly's spot with a DPP CTR/WFB.

Only 3 options: Jordan Drew, Justin Olam & Jamayne Isaako. Strike off Isaako since he's a Bronc and locks out early most weeks. Kind of a toss up between the other two.

Rush of blood maybe, but I desperately need one of Cleary or SJ in the halves to give some stability and Kelly's gotta go.

Good on ya mate, thats a sweet team. Out of interest (question to anyone that's looked), how many of the top 20 or so have Cam Smith?

Im coming 17th and started with both Smith and Fifita.
If i had my time over i would have only started with one and used the cash for another gun half rather than picking Elgey.

Field on the bench put me off McInness and Fifita looked really fit in the All Stars game.

I did take a punt on hess from the start so that worked out ok

Correct me if I'm wrong Badger, but has there actually been a year in the last 5 or 6 where you haven't been thereabouts? Maybe you had 1 bad year in there but fuck me, you always seem to be in the top 100 around now. Kudos for consistency.

Cheers @StuDogg101, That makes sense. So ideally your final team would consist of 18 players all scoring upwards of 50 and the rest of your team DDP red dots?

Yates cashed out for Leary. Hopefully he plays minutes and sticks around a few weeks until I can upgrade elsewhere because at this stage, I'm picking him in my 17 over Ese'ese.

Wanted to get Crichton in this week but it's not to be. Hopefully he flops Embarassed

    Smith (McInnes)
    Fifita, Faufusi
    Surgess, BT, Whitehead (Hess, Leary)
    Johnson, Lamb
    Moga, RJennings
    Tedesco, RTS, Cotric (Ponga)

We find out if Frawley makes the 19 today, right?

    Nice team filth!
I read in that article that Leary is expected to get big minutes with Lowe on the bench

    RTS Slater Cotric Jennings Abbey
    $45k ITB

Im thinking KBrom to Whitehead (I see good value in Whitehead now that the Raiders seem settled into rhythm)
and not sure about a second trade:

Considering Fogerty to Hampton or Kelly to Ponga

    What would you suggest?

EDIT (have 27 trades left pre this round's trading)

I like k Bromwich to Whitehead. I really like Ponga ( I picked him up at the start) but not sure how many more games he might get once Coote comes back.
Hampton will get a few more games with Granville and JT out and now only has a be of -3.

    Smith (v), Brailey (r)
    Fifita, Wallace, Kaufusi (r), Ese'Ese
Surgess, Mannering, Gallen, Whitehead (r), CHN, Capewell
    Johnson, Jacks, Elgey, Hingano
    S'Mat, Cotric, Idris (r), Moga
RTS, Tedesco (c), Slater, Abby, Isaako

On another note, can one of you champions explain to me "the risk of an AE" I understand that you want a gun 17 and 8 NPR locked in asap but why wouldn't you want the extra points if one of your guns doesn't play? Wouldn't you want your '138k nuffies' to at least be playing if possible? Call me stupid but I don't get it.

    Cheers.

Ultimately you want a gun 18 and 7 NPR's oysters, not 17 and 8. Generally this is ideal from Round 20 onwards.

If you have more than 18 scorers and cop an AE for whatever reason, than it is the lowest scorer. That is why the perfect number is 18 guns and 7 non-scorers. Your AE will be a gun, not an Abbey.

CORBONZ wrote:Cheers @StuDogg101 That makes sense. I better ease up on the trades now so I don't run into that situation later in the year.

Part of the strategy in the second half of the season is when to "kill off" a spot in your 25 to a nuffie who is 0 chance of playing to remove that AE possibility.

I think it was Milch or Random who made a great point the other day that for every trade you have remaining less than 25 means one person in your current team will be in your final squad. For most of us that's not so bad because people like Smith/Surgess/Teddy etc aren't going anywhere. But in general it's usually best to use a trade to kill off a spot as it will generally a) maximise the cash out potential and b) remove that AE risk

Onthebeatpeat, do you think Hampton would be fine to bring in this week? Not sold on him or how much more game time he'll get. What if Thurston comes back early and Leary keeps the hooker role til Granville returns?

Hope so! Lowe on the bench is probably more of a concern for Hess than anyone else but you can't ignore the attacking strength Hess has and the impact he's had in the Cowboys.

Lowe being a big-minute player is a worry though.

JT could move into the FRF rotation?

    It's either

    10. JT
    11. Hess
    12. Gooper
    13. Lowe

    or more likely

    11. Gooper
    12. Lowe
    13. JT

    14. Hess

Ideally yeah, 18 or 19 consistently scoring players. Injuries will happen, which is why it's good to have a trade or two up the sleeve coming into the final few rounds.

Tualau named in ISP so my guess is he will make way for Frawley on the bench.

Might as well chuck up my team for a quick review. This is after I've done my original planned trades of Brailey to Macca and Lamb to Hampton

    Smith, Macca (R)
    JWal, Fifita, Leota, Faufusi (R)
Gallen, Mannering, ET, CHN, Sele, Whitehead (R)
    SJ, Jacks, Hampton, Frawley
    Cotric, Sione, Idris (R), Rennings
    Guth, Slater, RTS, Abbey, Burns

Now with this Brailey news I'm tossing and turning whether to keep him and instead upgrade Jacks to Walker/Aeynolds so I've got a 2nd gun HLF. Logic's telling me keep riding a few Brailey price rises especially given how dire my HLF's will look without a 2nd gun but damn do I want Macca in my team now.
