I'm concerned about the Mortimer thing too! I really thought Nu would be ahead in the pecking order but now with that team list I'm not as convinced. I was hoping to be able to buy him for Round 12 and will be super disappointed if Sharks play Morts instead.

So why don't you start by trading out Idis instead of Kelly? Idis not playing anymore and Kelly is?

To me, yeah, too early in the season for any position mate, let alone Centre. Only way I would even contemplate it is if I had 5 playing WFB's and the potential to DPP swap between C/WFB, which you don't.

    What's everyone doing with Ponga?

Pretty expensive to have sitting around as an NPR but with Coote being so injury prone, he could come back and kill it!

I bought NuBrown in last week. Would be nice if he played over Origin, but was a cash out anyway for Jacks. Morts was a surprise, but who knows what happens. NuBrown has been named quite a few times in the 21 this year hasn't he?

Yeah I think Nu has been named every week in the extended squad, and I think this is Mortimer's first week on the team list. Though Morts has been injured for a while and has only been back for 2 games.
Nu wasn't particularly impressive for Samoa on the weekend, especially compared to last year when he got man of the match. Maybe that's put him out of favour? I hope not. I really want a cash-out half that plays round 12 and I think he'll be my only chance.

Yeah that's fair enough,I obviously want to upgrade Kelly or Idris but then I won't have the cash to bring in Gallen,Graham etc. I have 194k in the bank, any suggestions to what I should do? Also need funds for Suli to Munster soon as well. Any advice would be great

I just read a comment on a Cowboys forum. They reckon Green might be using a smokescreen & make a last minute change moving Coote into the halves & bringing in Ponga at f/b. Lucky that the Cowboys play the first game so we will know for sure.
If this doesn't eventuate I would get Munster out of those 3 based on better bye coverage.

Why would he do this though? Sounds like Cowboys fans wishing for it more than anything.

Nevertheless, Ponga is a hold for now.

Holding. Depends on the depth of your squad though really.

If I hold Ponga I'll have to play Hayne as one of my WFB's. The other concern is that if I dont do the trade now, the price difference between Ponga and Munster will keep increasing.

No issue playing Hayne over him for sure. If the money is that fine, then trade, but I'll at least hold until round 12. Would be gutted to trade him and Coote gets injured again. It's a big 'what if' but look what happened last time.

anyone keen on j.edwards in the second row? starting again, potentially for 80 mins. i missed two staturday games the week before rep round so im not sure how he went
i understand woods got injured early which may have impacted his mins. but im looking at cashing chn out, and he is starting as opposed to elliot.

dont need him to set the world on fire, just some handy siro like scores would be nice to hold me over. am i missing something with the tigers that i should know about?

Beast From The Big East wrote:Just in regards to a few posters asking about player x or player y and commenting that they have good byes, I think it needs to be remembered that for a lot of players (Origin aside) all teams miss 2 games. If a team such as the eels, rabbits, roosters etc are deemed handy for byes it should be noted that at some point a player like Norman, Reynolds, Aubs will still be absent from your team for 2 games. If you care enough to base some trades around bye schedule, chuck your team into a bye planner for 5 minutes and see how you fair in the other rounds as it won't always be easy just to think you can field a 17 as there is only limited teams on a bye

Most people looking for bye friendly players (like me) would be struggling over the major bye rounds but will have enough players (or close to enough players) to cover players not playing the minor bye rounds. In fact, I'd suggest, most teams will be still reasonably strong in the minor bye rounds, it'll be the teams that perform well over the major byes that jump up places.

Other than the general advice that's been offered so far, it's hard to offer more specific advice without posting your team.

Thanks! I might throw my team up here tomorrow and run a few ideas by the forum. That post was more about making sure I had the Origin/bye situation right in my head Very Happy

Not missing anything that I can think of at the moment. Obviously Lovett floating around is a drama, and MCK may end up there as we have quite a few average wingers who could move Kev back to the Centres, along with Malakai who may get a crack soon.

He's a gamble but Cleary seems to like him. I think I'd take the gamble on Elliot getting decent minutes personally though, particularly with byes and actual potential.

I'm going to hold. His scoring potential is too great when he gets game time. I reckon he'll be back in the team soon enough. After hearing about him and seeing him play at the end of last season, he was one of my first picks at the start of this season - even though he wasn't named. He's repaid that faith.

daresay he won't play 80 every week, Lawrence & Taylor are their preferred two 80 minute 2nd rowers, I looked at him when he was first named to start a couple weeks back, he just doesn't get points, 93 points from 207 minutes played isn't very encouraging, especially when he's not going to play the full game.

Maubbs and BJ run you right up past Round 14 before they cop byes and all things being equal will average just as well as any other Centre. I'd be inclined to keep Kelly as back up and cash out Idris to a nuffie. Gives you a good balance of some cash and depth. Not sure it's worth upgrading to give yourself a 3rd decent centre at the moment. Better off saving that 85k from the Idris downgrade to put towards your Gallen/Graham plans.
