I'll say it, because no one else will.

I've actually decided to bring Elliot in over Gallen.
Elliot averages 51 over 80mins - admittedly a small sample size but his PPM of 0.66 suggests this is about right. This will see him rise up to approx $450k by R19 when he will be an easy jump to a top range gun.
6 * 51 = 306 pts + $140K in price gain
Gallen plays 5 games over the same period (misses 18) so will need to average 61 to match Elliot's points (which happens to be his 5 round avg)
So same points scored and $140k made for 1 extra trade. No brainer right?
What am I missing?

Good workBoozecluez wrote:Just had a look at Friend vs Smith vs Farah
Friend plays 6 games at a conservative average of 50 = 300 (Price goes up approximately 30k)
Smith plays 4 games at a conservative average of 60 =240 (Price drops approximately 10k)
Farah plays 6 games at a conservative average of 45 = 270 (Price goes up approximately 70k)
What are you are gambling on is Smith being rested or Friend increasing workload or ideally both to make a trade back later. This may net you a minimum of 60 points overall (Though points are probably worth more in tough bye rounds)
When Friend was killing it there was no Pearce or Cordner but the Roosters sucked so his defensive workload was big.
Farah is a higher risk as no one knows his minutes, but more reward as his price and BE is low and you may make an extra 30 points.
With no Cook then he would be a definite go, but he could jump in at anytime or even start.
The potential of Farah or Friend is they can and have score 60's which would be great, but ideally you would want this to happen to make these trades great ones.
As I write this, I think to myself, that if it costs me 2 trades to trade Smith (in and out) and I am low on trades then what can i do?
How can I get a similar reward for 1 less trade with less risk.
That would be to trade Abbey to Nu Brown via DPP
Gets me 60 points over 2 bye rounds, 30k in bank and no risk while costing me 1 trade.
Moral of the story if you don't have a full 25 players and some failed cows, perhaps it isn't stupid to trade sideways to a player with good byes rather than trade a gun in/out

Good work
I'm still going Smith - Kaysa and Abbey - Nu Brown
next week probably Mcinnes - McCullough
Willing to take the risk on getting Smith out

Fair enough, I would love to take the gamble if I had the spare trades. Friend would be my choice here too as I feel he will go well over 80 mins and the added responsibility.
Still I need to upgrade both my halves, bring in another Fullback and perhaps upgrade Whitehead.
Chuck in a couple cash outs to help fund this and it probably leaves me with 6 trades for injuries for the year......
You can see my predicament haha

Won't be able to afford a top class half like Johnson/Pearce so going to have to rely on a fallen gun to return to form = cut price keeper
Which 2 of the below money ball options below. A lot of ??? as a low score on a high BE will make the price plummet.
Niko would be a definite out next week so he a round 13 trade, Frawley would have a couple weeks extra weeks up his sleeve
Cleary for next week would be my pick (as would only have one bye left) while Munster appeals too
Though assuming they all cost 420k , this is where it gets interesting.
B Hunt (453k Be 70) 1.3% ownership
A Reynolds (466k Be 71) 4.6% ownership
C Munster (425k Be 47) 8% ownership
N Cleary (409k Be 42) 8.2 % ownership
DCE (399k Be 44) 6.1% ownership

He will probably give an extra 30 points overall over Smith but Madge could just as easy give Cook more time to keep him happy.
With no Cook then he would be a definite go, but he could jump in at anytime or even start =hence the risk.

Gets me at least 60 points over 2 bye rounds, 30k in bank and no risk while costing me 1 trade.
Brown is a more than capable half, can break a tackle and will play 80 mins so no worries about a 10 minute bench cameo like a cheap forward might do
Moral of the story if you don't have a full 25 players and some failed cows, perhaps it isn't stupid to trade sideways to a player with good byes rather than trade a gun in/out

Out of the following, who needs to make way for Gallen.
Whitehead
Elliot
Surgess
CHN
Crichton
JBD
I'm thinking CHN has peaked. Thoughts?
