Holding him for a while or cashing out now? I guess CHN - Merrin might be popular this week.

CHN has made way for Tolo for me. Knik helped with the cash flow issues.

It was good while it lasted - remember those $50 and $60K price rises. Those were the days!

But I can't rely on him to make his 50pt BE this week, given his past couple of weeks and the change in 5/8. Moylan was rubbish in the halves in origin and could not get the ball out of his hands before getting smashed.

Will Edwards get that many points to allow you to start him? or are you planning to milk his money at the end of the season?
What are the thoughts on him - I hadn't considered him to be that valuable.

Yep I don't have the trades to get him in and as the cow said, he is priced too high for a cash out. I'll have 13 trades after this week. If I had a few more maybe.

BroncHose wrote:Tolo vs Merrin seems to be a discussion point for some (including me, and definitely @White Lightning as he flips and flops for the thousandth time this week). Just let me talk this thru:

Tolo. Buying high, real high. low minutes risk when the game is already won or lost has cost his fantasy points over a few weeks (scores of 50,37,49 from 50minute games). Otherwise good minutes and ridiculous scoring. Generally good form and the go to guy for the team. Good for mid-bye round planning, but misses last major bye rd. Could start seeing the price decline in the next 2-3 weeks. Value is points over money.

Merrin. Buying low. Form is certainly questionable. Team form is certainly questionable. Origin a slim risk. Enables money to be spent elsewhere. Best purchased after rd15, but price will likely rise before then. Value is money over points (considering next bye rd).

I've done well at buying players low and selling high this year, but I think I'll change that and go Tolo. Points now will be more valuable to me, and Merrin still has too many questions.

lol! Yes you have zeroed in on my strategy which is to get so confused & then let someone who knows what they're talking about take over.

I have 18 trades so am thinking about taking a punt with Edwards. If I knew he would keep the spot week in week out, I'd have him in in a flash and starting him every week. Just don't know if it's worth it for Kelly. Kelly against the Raiders could actually do something.

If Brown is out I'm just gonna trade him to JDB, fuck it.

Edwards might not be worth it, when my back line consists of Croker, Cotric, Fui, Kelly, RTS, Slater, Suli, Semi and Ponga!!

Better to jump from Brown to Vaughan this week or wait a week? Don't want the difference growing too much between them

If Brown doesn't play Vaughn won't go up that much if at all.

The secrecy behind Brown's diagnosis is making me a bit nervous to be honest.

Anyone gonna captain Smith if the 17 stays as is?

Hayne > Edwards as a sideways trade acceptable with 19 trades in the bank?

I read alot of people saying if they had enough trades they would......

Would be left with 17 after also doing Niko > Munster

With 19 trades, it's definitely worth a punt IMO. Have 18 and am thinking of going Kelly to Edwards.

I originally had Kelly slated but hes a warm body for Rd18 at this stage and would rather not jeopordise that. Will still probably go Hayne > Nofo as it gives me a Rd15 gun a longt with Munster and happy to have him as a POD in my final squad.

    3 Trades next week:
    Whitehead > Finucane
    Milf > Arey/Walker
    Cotric > Holmes

Gives me 15 and 17 for Rd15 and 16 respectively

Not swaying you either way, and no source info to back this up, but I can't see Jayne staying at CTR much longer. I wouldn't be surprised if Laurie wanted a look at him playing CTR to get in for Origin. I'm holding till he gets back to FB and see how his scores go from there.

Probably use him as a late season cash out.

Is Lolohea going to kick goals for the Tigers, do we reckon? (If they score any tries)

Must admit he's tempting, but would be stuck with him as a 18/19th man as wouldn't have the trades to comfortably cash out.

I'm actually happy with the team post trades this week. Focussed on getting to final tea more than bye planning, but still getting 17 on the ground (albeit with Field as reserve):

    Hodgson, Smith
    Tolman, James, Wallace
    Tolo (c), JDB, Elliott
    SJ (vc), Munster, Field
    SMat, Cotric,
    Slater, MWZ, RTS, Jayne

Expecting Tolman to get some rest this week assuming Graham plays some minutes (although just listened to Bupa on NRL360 and he said "its going weird and hitting with the left and feeling it in the right - so not sure whats going on there" - It implies that the issue isn't resolved and persists.

NPRs - Surgess, Gallen, Crichton, Nu Brown, Fuimaono, CWalker.

If ever a player had something to prove to his coach its Jesse Bromwich.
Brown playing has warning bells all over it. My punts have been O.K. so far
and 16th overall. Do I ride my luck, save some cash and get Jesse in with Edwards
for Montoya? 18 trades left. Conversely do I get rid of Matagi for Jesse and hope
Brown comes good? Munster for Niko also beckons. Hardest trade week for me so far.

Also, if I hold Brown and he doesn't play, my front row will have either Yates or Kaufusi starting.  I don't think that's a big issue that week.

EDIT: In regards to Edwards, is it really his spot to lose?  I've loved what I've seen from him in his couple of games but Hiku being dumped means he's sniffing around and could come back at any time.

As someone who lost flexibility and now has 5x WFB I would recommend against it during the bye period where some flexibility can be helpful. I regret getting rid of Jennings for Malakai WZ as I'm now unable to for example go Cotric (stuck in my centres) to Lolohea

Being only able to field 16 this week though I can't trade anyone playing out for him and positions restrict me anyway. It'd be CNK or Braidon Burns to make way and the latter probably just better to sit around as an NPR instead of wasting a trade and cash on him.

Hey don't question the person that's 12th in overall. Nah jokes you bring up a valid point. Right now I have 4 players that I would consider 'cash cows'. Frawley, Manu, Fuimaono and CNK.

Then I have around 11 keepers with a few maybes floating around like JWal ET, Guth, RTS, Whitehead and Cotric. The rest are cash-outs or duds like Sele, Leota, Nu Brown and Burns.

I'm unsure if those 4 cows, particularly one that might not get a run for a while is enough to make moves like Whitehead to Lolo, Cotric to Tommy T, Guth to Teddy, JWal to Fifita etc

Worth the outlay to turn Abbey into someone like Semi?

Will give me 18 and will only do if Munster has a dud game since he's my VC

Think I've talked myself into getting in Lolohea and keeping him and Hayne as 18th/19th men because I'll need some cover having blown all but three trades in getting following team for Round 20. (Two trades left if TTrbo comes back fit for one of my back five...like the team though. Should be fine for cash to get this, downgrading Slater, Cotric etc at right time. Means there's no need to do full cashout of Niko this week and getting Lolohea instead should mean a servicable bye scorer and non-disastrous reserve. Capitals are players I already have)

    Fifita, TAUPAU, James
SURGESS, GALLEN, MANNERING, CRICHTON, De Belin
